Kit started studying yoga around 2001 and after completing her first Iyengar teaching assessment taught at IYIP for nearly 10 years. Her students were treated to an energetic class with creative prop set-ups to explore poses in infinite ways. Kit's delightful, friendly style, her sassy sense of humor and inspirational readings made her a favorite teacher for many of our students.
Kit was reared in the Forest Hills area of Pittsburgh. She has degrees in graphic design and art from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Chatham College. She subsequently worked as a graphic designer and co-owned a kitchy furniture and decor shop in Wilkinsburg. For over 20 years she provided loving care for Mr. Christopher, a young man with disabilities.

Sara Azarius was introduced to Iyengar Yoga while briefly living in Texas 25 years ago. Her workshop studies with Manouso Manos, Mary Dunn, George Purvis, Ramanand Patel, Gabriella Giubilaro and Dean Lerner set a standard and an expectation within Sara. As she traveled and attended yoga classes in cities without Iyengar yoga she always felt something was missing.
Iyengar Yoga is uniquely dedicated to accessibility through detailed instruction and adaptation. Teachers modify the classic asanas (yoga postures) when necessary with the use of props such as blocks, blankets and belts to allow for the greatest benefits through deeper and longer holds of the poses.
IYIP instruction is based around three areas of concentration: yoga practice, stress management, and rehabilitation. We will work with you to create a course of study that is tailored to your unique needs and goals. Your individualized practice may be a combination of classes, workshops and private sessions with instructors, and may draw from one or all areas of concentration.
We are able to support and guide students with almost all health concerns and will let you know if for some reason it is not appropriate for you to start yoga at this time. In that rare instance we will make recommendations regarding how to prepare yourself and when you may get started. I suffered a spinal cord injury in 2011.

The Iyengar Yoga Institute of Pittsburgh is one of the few studios continuing to offer high quality yoga instruction on a daily basis. In spite of covid-19, IYIP has moved to a online streaming model which is easy to use - 24 hour class passes are available, which allow students to take as many classes as they wish during that 24 hour time period (about 2-3 classes offered per day, depending on the schedule). Since these yoga classes are streamed, I have been able to communicate my personal needs to my yoga teachers, such as if I have an injury and need modifications for the class that day. I am

I have been going to this yoga studio for at least ten years. The teachers are skilled and very knowledgeable. It is an extremely welcoming environment for the beginner and the seasoned student. The studio is beautiful and well-equipped with all you need for the Iyengar method. I have seen remarkable change in students' general health on many occasions. Everyone is welcome. It's almost like a second home where one can anticipate peace, acceptance, and skill growth at the level you find comfortable. So grateful I landed here way back when.

Because I am over 60, I take supported yoga when I can. The instructors are so kind, caring & patient!
I got a great work out there and felt welcome. Unfortunately it's a bit of a drive for me and life got in the way. I would love to start back, but need to find a good time that fits my schedule. Compared to other studios, Yoga on Centre is affordable and worth the effort!

When people ask me where I take yoga, I rave about Yoga On Centre! I explain that you are so much more than the typical yoga class, and that learning Iyengar yoga will ensure proper alignment and allow them to practice safely and gain greater benefit from yoga. I recommend your classes, and your private sessions for anyone with injuries or special concerns. I explain how I first came to Sara for a private session due to an injury, and through the years have been amazed at what physical issues can be addressed and healed through yoga. I don't have the chance to attend many of the workshops but I

This is the place to go if your focuses are postures, alignment, and step-by-step improvement. The instructors are very knowledgable, accessible and friendly. I've being practicing yoga for 6 years but every time I go to class, I learn something new. I strongly recommend this place for yogis who takes yoga as a practice, rather than workouts.

Having done Yoga for 15+ years, all over the country, I can confidently say that Yoga on Center is one of the best! Sarah Azarius is an outstanding practitioner who has the unique ability to also teach - and to me is like a scientist of Yoga. I highly recommend Yoga on Center and their entire staff, to anyone looking for real knowledge and learning.

Yoga on Centre is THE premier yoga studio in Pittsburgh. There are many forms of yoga but Iyengar yoga is by far the most beneficial one that I have studied. Teachers are rigorously trained and knowledgeable and held to a high standard. The focus on alignment is critical to getting the maximum benefits from the practice.

I've recently turned to yoga at the advice of my chiropractor. I have absolutely zero previous experience, so I decided to join a yoga studio that had a special introductory offer for new people. The plan was to start with yoga for beginners, but this class ended with us doing shoulder stands on day 1. I did not go back to that studio and researched other studios in the area, that's how I found Yoga on Centre. I am primarily drawn to the studio's mission statement and its focus on a more holistic approach to yoga that incorporates breathing techniques and addressing each student's individual needs

If you're a beginner, the teachers at Yoga on Centre will get your yoga practice off to a great start with their focus on your alignment and your understanding of the relationship between your body, your mind and the yoga postures.
If you are more established in your practice and, like me, have picked up some bad habits from other teachers or you have some deep blockages and misunderstandings that are impeding your progress but you can't seem to get past, the teachers can help you identify these issues and unlock them.
I had a consistent practice for about 5 years before going to Yoga on Centre
