In 1966, Ed Cleves, Sr. and Joe Lonnemann, Sr. decided they were ready to retire. They sold the store to Nick & Gert. With Joe's blessing, it was decided to keep the Lonnemann name for the business in order to honor the men who founded a jewelry store during the depths of the Depression. Charles Nicholas Cleves (Charlie) graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Math in 1975.

Very satisfied with my first time here. I wanted a birthday/Christmas gift for my mother and they had a beautiful necklace in the display with her birthstone surrounded by diamonds in 14k white gold. It was like it was just sitting there waiting for me. The sales professionals were very helpful but not pushy, which I really like. I came in 45 minutes before closing and they had the merchandise gift wrapped and ready for me to go out the door with 15 minutes to spare. Very disappointed with my fiancé’s wedding band. We got it back once after having them size it down and the size was wrong. They didn’t resize his finger and just said they’d make it bigger. Then we go back a second time and it is still too small. It’s obvious they just cut into the ring and took a piece of the band out, which is gold, and then said it would cost even more to get it sized again. We just left and told them to forget about it. The engraving looks terrible and we’re just so upset because it’s a family heirloom and there’s no redoing it now. Never going back again.
