The natural lens of the eye allows light to pass through allowing you to see. When the lens loses transparency it is known as a cataract. Cataracts cause progressive, painless loss of vision. The lens clouds naturally as we age, so people over the age of 65 usually see a gradual reduction of vision.
Certain diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjgren's syndrome, thyroid disease, and lupus. Treatments are often step wise and depend upon the underlying causes of dryness. These treatment plans may include the use of certain eyelid cleaners, artificial tears, blocking your tear ducts with punctal plugs, and prescription eye drops or ointments.
Glaucoma is an eye disease that can lead to irreversible loss of vision. There are different kinds of glaucoma but what they all have in common is that they lead to optic nerve damage which is irreversible. Most people do not realize they have glaucoma since it often has no symptoms. It is important to get regular eye exams especially if you have any risk factors for glaucoma.
A pterygium is a fleshy, wedge shaped growth on the outer surface of the eye. It usually results from long term ultraviolet sun exposure and is very common in hot dry environments such as Arizona. They usually grow slowly but can eventually creep onto the cornea of the eye and interfere with your vision.

This was my first visit here. I thought the front desk and Dr Paturi were very professional. The office is calm and efficient. Dr Paturi is a compassionate provider who cares about her patients. What I appreciate about her is that she asks how you are doing and waits and responds with a caring response. She is very good as an expert in her field and frankly, I would t trust my sight with anyone else. She also has a kind front office staff.

Dr. Paturi at Anew Vision Eye Specialists has taken care of both of my parents, with successful cataract surgeries. Her office is very professional, quiet, (Its actually the most aesthetically pleasing, calming waiting room I've ever been in for a Dr's office by far), with an exceptional front office and back office team. It's always easy to get questions answered, as they respond quickly and do such a great job.
