Hickoryvillane Assisted Living is part of Bethesda Senior Living Communities, a national faith-based, not-for-profit organization headquartered in Colorado Springs. The company was founded in 1959, when Rev. Charles Turner implemented his vision to establish a nursing home business with a two-fold purpose: to provide quality care for the elderly in his community and to generate revenues to bring hope to those living in poverty around the world.

I visited today. During my visit I had the chance to talk with Mel. Mel has worked at Hickory Villa for 5 years. He serves the Elders by driving the shuttle, leading activities, and talking with the residents. He has the kindest spirit and loves God. I also spoke with Jane, the Dining Services Director. She was chopping fresh asparagus to grill for lunch. Jane said she has been at Hickory Villa for 18 years.
As I walking around, I also spoke to residents, Jean and Darry. They both expressed how happy they were, how well taken care of they felt, and both had big smiles when I asked them

Mom has lived at Hickory Villa for nearly two months and we could not be happier. It was tough adjusting at first to all of the care as she moved from independent living in her own condo. The facility is lovely, big central atrium with tons of natural light and a small live bird aviary. Her apartment layout is simple and smart, allowing for a living area and kitchenette as well as a common dining area we've often used for family meals. She has control of her own thermostat and we bring her dog over several times a week for visits. I still haven't figured out what everyone's job is
