When Dad's memory failed, we didn't know what to do. The man who was the pillar of our family had lost his short term memory. Physically he was fine, but his mind was in a completely different place. My mom and little sister cared for him until there was no choice but to place him in a nursing home.
At Hansen House, we take community seriously. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible and that means bringing an unrivaled level of care and consistency to everything we do. Our Council Bluffs location has just 35 units. That small size means the staff and community members really get the chance to know one another.
Bigger is not better. Household models with eighteen or less units create a better quality of life for those that live in them. Like many homes, our kitchen is the heart of our house and is open for all. The Hansen Place Studio has everything your loved one needs: full bathroom, a bedroom and spacious living area.
Social activity is a highlight at Hansen House. From small gatherings to large attenders, a mixture of laughter and reminiscing are integral to a balanced, fun-filled day. Chair exercises blended with the outdoors, and courtyard walks throughout the week, round out our exercise program. Activities are geared to promote thought process, encourage participation, touch one or more of the five senses, and incorporate music with song lyrics.

The Hansen House is a wonderful home for your loved one who suffers from a dementia related disease! My mother suffered from Alzheimer's. The usual progression of the disease allowed her to stay in her home, then as she progressed she moved to an assisted living apartment, then into a nursing home. We were unable to find the right kind of… setting for our mother. She was very unhappy in the nursing home setting, as she could yet do so much for herself and was capable of doing many things!
