NCRA is an association of recycling businesses, community groups, municipalities, and individuals committed to promoting, expanding, and institutionalizing recycling. Founded in 1978, NCRA is a nonprofit trade organization for recyclers with around 200 members, the majority of whom are located in Northern California.

NCRA promotes waste reduction, reuse, salvaging, recycling, and composting as vital tools for resource and energy conservation, and as cost-effective, environmentally sound methods of disposing of discarded materials.

Services
Laurenteen has over 18 years of experience in the recycling industry. The Waste Prevention Specialist at the City of El Cerrito, she provides educational outreach to the community and works directly with businesses for legislative compliance. Over the course of her career she has served on both the NCRA and CRRA Boards.
The Northern California Recycling Association (NCRA) is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization founded in 1978 to promote environmentally sound discards management. Our 300 plus members are individuals engaged in state and local Zero Waste initiatives. We provide communities, industry leaders, employees, students, job-seekers and activists the opportunity to collaborate in evolving Zero Waste education and advocacy.

NCRA has a collaborative committee system and volunteer opportunities of all kinds, durations and levels! Communications: The CC works with all NCRA committees and partner groups to insure our Zero Waste message and events get out to as wide an audience as possible.

The Zero Waste Advocacy Committee (ZWAC) is NCRA's action arm to strive towards zero waste. We encourage communities to incorporate waste reduction, reuse, recycling, salvaging, and composting as the principle parts of their discard management systems. We advocate long-range policies that facilitate these practices.
