RN Estate Vineyard
We are located six miles north of Paso Robles on River Road. Our private hilltop Estate vineyard is situated in a notch, high on the west ridge of the Estrella River valley. Our red Bordeaux varietals are grown on well drained slopes of sandy clay loam with traces of limestone and river stones. We also produce Burgundian style Pinot Noir sourced from highly acclaimed vineyards in Sta Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley.

Our passion is to hand craft uniquely styled wines, focusing on finesse, balance and elegance with the purpose of enhancing the enjoyment of food. A native of Brittany, France and former Restaurateur, Roger Nicolas turned his energy and passion into growing grapes and producing premium wine. In 2003, Roger released his first vintage of RN Estate wines and has been crafting these sought-after wines ever since.
Services
RN Estate offers an invitation to become a member of their wine club. This distinguished club is limited to 600 members and establishes your entitlement to RN Estate's limited production wines. Being a member provides a unique experience, for those that seek a closer relationship to the wines they drink and the person that crafts them.

The low rating is for poor customer service policies rather than their wine. I've been a wine club member for 4 years, but when I asked them to ship two bottles of wine to a client I was informed of a 6 bottle minimum to ship. I then offered to purchase 4 more to be shipped to me to make the total 6 and was still refused, despite the fact that I would be paying for shipping. They explained it was too much work for them to ship the wine (seriously?). While I've enjoyed their wine, there are two many competing wineries with comparable wines that offer a much better experience that would

RN Estate is a private winery that produces some of the best pinot noirs and exceptional red blends in the area. The winery sits upon a hilltop and the view up to their entry gate is a wonderful drive in itself. Roger and Claire Nicolas open their home for private tastings of their limited and exclusive estate and bottled wines. Claire warmly greeted us and shared her extensive knowledge of their wines in an intimate and serene outdoor patio setting underneath the wisteria overlooking the vineyards. Roger has certainly found his calling as a winemaker! Their wines are exceptional and you will

If you want a really special and private tasting experience, you should make an appointment/reservation to come see RN Estate and taste the Bordeaux-style blends and Pinots they offer.

The tasting room is located in a beautiful old ranch style home, a couple miles off the paved road. It is over the hills and through a few vineyards, to RN Estate you'll go. When we arrived we were greeted by Claire, a wonderful host and guide to RN Estate. She made us feel the passion of the owner, Roger Nicholas and appreciate his hard work and talents. She also of course properly introduced us to

Our family visited RN Estate today off of a recommendation, we had no idea what to expect. Our afternoon with Claire in her beautiful home turned into the most intimate wine experience we have ever had. It was as if we'd known Claire our entire lives as she fascinated us with her wine knowledge and the background i for each wine we tasted. I recommend the Rive Droite and Solomon Hills Pinot. The secluded property, Claire's hospitality and fabulous wines make's RN Estate an absolute must stop destination in Paso!

We had a private tasting with Claire, who is super nice and extremely knowledgeable! This place looks like an Italian villa! The wine is also amazing. We loved everything on the tasting menu.

Unbelieveablyu great wine. Have been drinking their vintages since 2008 and they are simply miracle workers with a grape. Pinot Noir is what they tout but truthfully they make other wines that are just as good. Take the time to schedule a private tasting. Claire and Roger are awesome hosts.

This was by far my most favorite wine tasting of my entire trip to Paso Robles. I loved how intimate and informative it was. I felt so welcomed and comfortable going into Roger and Claire's home.

I have been a member of RN Estate Vineyards for five years and look forward to Roger's new releases. Roger is one of few producers that keeps his membership low and provides a personal touch that you rarely see in today's commercialism. Looking forward to visiting his site in November.

OMG! I found Napa quality in Paso Robles! All of Roger's wines were absolutely exquisite! I made the fatal error though in arriving late (a little difficult to find), so I'm truly sorry. But we caught up pretty fast. Bought a blend and a pinot and will savor them for special occasions!

A passionate winemaker with a vision to make craft wines. Not a traditional Paso selection but refreshing and excellent.

...An artist creates velvet in a glass.

Having a local perspective of more than a hundred tastings in the area, R.N. is truly amongst the top wineries of California. It also happens to be a favorite stop for North County insiders.

The production is hand crafted by the vintner [Roger] himself. He cares for every aspect of his hand crafted wine. As a result, the wine is peerless, and the resulting production run is very short. He takes appointments only, but let me assure you the resulting tasting will be extremely personal, informative and engaging.

Our personal favorite is the Cuvée

One of our favorite tastings during our one-week stay in Paso. A friend tipped me off about R.N, so we made a call to Roger to set up a tasting appointment. We were not prepared for the drive, and thought we were lost a few times.. this place really is WAY out there, far from any of the wineries on the Map. The estate is beautiful, quiet and Roger was quite the Host.. We felt like V.I.P. :) The wines are in a class of their own: Sophisticated, very smooth, well balanced, food friendly dinner wines. Not the typical Jammy high alcohol reds you often find in Paso (which I subsequently enjoy.)

We discovered this fairly new winery in Paso Robles at the annual Wine Festival. They have a very small production of each vintage (200 - 250 cases each) and specialize in Rhone-style blends. I picked up two bottles - the 2005 Cuvee' des Artistes- nice mellow blend that incorporates the zinfandel grape commonly found in the central coast; and also the 2005 Cuvee' des Trois Cepages- a fuller body blend with nice fruit. Absolutely wonderful!

The winery is actually located at the vintner's home- beautifully situated on a hilltop overlooking the rolling hills of Paso Robles. We
