Services
Creativity takes courage, but behind every performer is a beginner who fell in love with expression, storytelling, and being set free. Our mission is to inspire and enrich the lives of each individual student through dance with our positive and nurturing learning environment, attention to detail in every aspect of our training, and insightful choreography.
Scarlet Ryals is originally from Memphis, TN. She has studied dance for over thirty years and credits her success to continuing education in all areas of the dance industry. She is proficiently trained in jazz, tap, hip hop and gymnastics with a concentration in classical ballet, contemporary, and lyrical.
Sarah Golden is from Memphis, Tennessee where she has been studying dance for 23 years. She trained under Scarlet Ryals for the past 18 years, under whom she also received her formal dance teacher training. Her teaching style is thorough and consistent and she believes that no student should be left behind.
Laura Connolly is originally from Miami, Florida. She moved to Memphis after graduating from high school in 1997 to attend the University of Memphis on a baton twirling scholarship. While completing her student teaching for her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, She was assigned to St. Francis where she has taught for 18 years.
We believe the best dancers are cultivated through both creative opportunities and in precise, alignment-based technical training.
Our facility and curriculum give students the opportunity to grow in their creativity and dance abilities, and work to aid in injury prevention through the modalities of exercise science conditioning, state of the art sprung flooring, myofascial release techniques, and by exposing students to an array of dance styles, yoga, and pilates.Classical ballet is the foundation for all dance forms.

Essentials Dance Company is an amazing studio. The teachers are great mentors for students of all ages inside the studio and out. The studio is like a close family. They encourage that we strive for our own personal best rather than trying to be better than everyone else. EDC is a successful studio that I would highly recommend to anyone.

I danced for Essentials dance company for years. I was there when it began and I had nothing but great experiences with this company. You will receive nothing but the best instruction and I still recommend this company to parents I meet looking for a great place to take their children. The teachers there are very nice and connect to your children on a personal level which is what makes dancing special. If I could go back to dancing this is where I would go in a heart beat.

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CHILDREN AND WASTE YOUR MONEY! This dance studio is full of cheaters, lyres, and scams. This offers anything but a positive environment for anyone to be. Instead of constructive criticism, they offer negative insults that destroy self confidence. You are wasting your money on cheaters and rude and cruel scam artists. These people will rob you and your child of money, confidence, and time. Fo your sake, STAY CLEAR OF THESE PEOPLE. Please spread the word. No one should go there. EVER!

Essentials Dance Company is the best place to take your child to dance. My child has become a stronger dancer and learned sportsmanship. We feel like a part of a family. The dancers have a big sister/little sister program. In this program the girls have someone assigned to them that will offer assistance and support. The spring show is spectacular and allows the dancers the opportunity to see all of the competitive dances from the year. The studio offers dance classes for tots to teens. . At the studio you will find the nicest teachers , students and parents. You and your child will love it there

My daughter just joined with EDC this year and we couldn't have asked for a better studio! Everyone has been so warm and welcoming. The kids took my daughter in, befriended her, helped her adjust to the new studio routine and just plain treat her like they have known her forever. As for the teachers, well, my daughter LOVES them all and learns something new each day! They are encouraging and patient! We were lucky to find them!
