In 1978, Twiddy & Company Realtors opened its first office on the Outer Banks in Duck Village. In 1982, the business expanded to include a second office in Corolla. As the company grew, the restored Kill Devil Hills Lifesaving Station was moved to Corolla to serve as an additional office space. A new office building was constructed in 1995 and expanded in 2003.

Horrible customer service. Our house was filthy and the pool was covered in algae. We could not swim in our pool until day 4. The furniture was so dirty it would show on your clothes when you sat on it. There was unknown liquids on the walls. Black mold coming from the vents. The door wouldn't open. There were nails poking through the deck. The vacuum was broken. The pots and pans were disgusting. I had to wait on hold daily with customer service to get issues addressed. Was told I would get a credit for the problems and inconvenience and they offered a $100 credit towards a future stay. Ha

Poor customer service. My daughter had her wedding at one of their rentals, which was advertised as an event house. The lawn where we had the reception was lush green in pictures and dirt when we arrived. We had to have the reception on the dirt, which made for a horrible background for photos. Air conditioning was out in 10 of the 24 bedrooms. She paid to have the pool heated (it was the last week of September) and they don't turn the heater on u til you arrive and it took 2 of our 6 day vacation to get warm enough to swim. NEVER RENT WITH TWIDDY. I will NEVER make this mistake again. We paid over $17,000 for a one week vacation to have our wedding. The house was advertised as an event house and showed beautiful pictures of an event lawn. The actual "lawn" was dirty sand, we were expecting beautiful grass for our wedding reception.
The WORST part of it all was how we were treated. We checked in on a Sunday and Twiddy was closing for the evening and told us they would call us Monday to "figure out a solution." We never received a call. We also were told that a cleaning crew would be coming Monday

We have been renting homes in the Outer Banks for more than 25 years and have never had such a horrific experience as we did last SUMMER at the Sand Dancer property.
The owners switched from Resort Realty to Twiddy at the end of the 2021 season, I wonder why?
On the first day of vacation there was a smell of sewage in the upper master bedroom where my wife and I slept. Staff is great!! Jillian was wonderful. Sad thing is the company's policy with regard to deposit fees for next rentals. You place a deposit but if you don't accept the price you lose the deposit. I can live with that when prices change moderately but in our case the rental increased 200%. So no reasonable SS applied to the policy. Customer loses.

We were so disappointed by Twiddy's response to a fire alarm that was sounding in the property we rented over Labor Day weekend, we were told they'd "try to get to it" the next day A FIRE ALARM blaring on and off in a home with a broken landline. We called, texted, stayed on hold on the emergency line for over a half hour and waited. After three hours we finally left since we had no idea if the house was actually on fire and we could not get any help from Twiddy - it took days to get a call back (After many calls by us and after we'd already arrived home!).

We have rented from Twiddy for many years. This past August we rented a home, Scenes of Santorini and it was the worst experience. The outside of the home was so disgusting Twiddy sent an employee with a leaf blower to remove the piles of bugs in front of the doors just so we could enter the home. He told us this is one of the worst he had ever seen. After that we had to take 2 days from our vacation to clean it ourselves just so we could use the pool and hot tub. Which by the way we're not cleaned, we had to call to get that done as well. Twiddy finally sent someone to power wash the house

After 30 years of family rentals 4x per year across all seasons, our last Twiddy rental last week (Oct 2021) was an utter embarrassment due to 1) the dismally filthy condition housekeeping left the house in, and 2) the unresponsiveness of Twiddy service staff.
In all our years, not once have we had to deal with aggressive roaches in virtually every room of the house in broad daylight. They were in bathrooms, crawling on kitchen counters, laundry room, game room, bedrooms, bathrooms, poolside, and they even boldly crawled across the big flatscreen TV as we watched a movie. Super gross.

We rented for the first time in 2020 through Twiddy. The house was amazing, spotless and so perfect. Loved it so much we decided to rent again this August. Our house was already booked so we tried a new one listed by the same company.
Two families- 4 adults and 5 kids. We spent approx $8k for the week.
After a 10 hour trek, we finally arrived at the beautiful house in Pine Island.

Twiddy is the only company we use for our vacation rental. They take great care to provide a clean , maintenance free rental. Their communication is informative and using text messages makes everything quick and easily understood. They provided hints on the midge problem this year and we used them. Our deck was midge free. The house was clean, it had a fresh smell , there were zero issues with the house. We will be back next year

To start, preparing for our wonderful week getaway to OBX was anything but. Our group was traveling from all around the country and we wanted to have some idea of what to expect before we arrived and to be honest, I have had more information from Airbnb than we got from Twiddy, who for having a luxurious rental (The Chesapeake), provided less than a luxurious experience. Beware-We will be very cautious in the future when choosing a vacation rental after our recent stay in a home rented through Twiddy. Upon our arrival, the main living area was crawling with roaches, glass and food debris was found in the dining and game rooms. Sheets were soiled, the master bath toilet seat was cracked in half, toilet paper holder was half ripped out of the vanity, carpets were stained and the ice maker was detached from the freezer and would fall out when the door opened. The home was a quick walk to the beach and had a lovely private pool but not worth the risk of staying in

*AVOID* We have rented from Twiddy for over 30 years as a family. We will never use Twiddy again after our last two vacations under them. They have grown to be a group that is not family oriented anymore and no longer put any valid effort into correcting their mistakes or the homes issues. For example, our property lost AC and they did not respond in a timely manor and the issue continued to happen over and over again. I have so much more to say but at this point, I'm exhausted in dealing with them. We will be using Carolina Designs from now on. You will not get a house as advertised with

Really need to work on website. A prominent drop down box with the list of amenities, to include beach items and a drop down box listing items the renter needs to bring. We did not see the "need to provide own linens ". Renting was expensive so we bought cheap Walmart. Linens not only thing we would have packed. If there is a next time I will be better prepared.
