Services
Trips to the vet can be quite stressful for our animal friends. Not only do they have to leave their safe spaces at home, but they may also encounter other animals, which can make them nervous. At Syosset Animal Hospital, we're committed to providing Fear-Free office visits. We want your pets to feel comfortable when they visit us, so we take many steps to make sure they feel happy and relaxed as soon as they walk in the door.
Just like people, dogs and cats can have allergies too! An allergic reaction occurs when your pet's body has an adverse response to environmental substances, which can range from hardly noticeable to potentially fatal. Most reactions occur when the allergen is inhaled, ingested or comes in contact with the skin.
Traveling with pets can be a fun and rewarding experience! However, Syosset Animal Hospital gets frantic calls from our clients regularly because they didn't take a few easy precautions. Here's a quick checklist to ensure your trip is successful and stress free. A domestic Health Certification is required by many states and airlines.
Poor dental hygiene can leave its mark on your pet. Bad breath (halitosis) is an abnormal condition in cats and dogs, often indicating a serious underlying condition called periodontal disease, which affects the mouth, gums, and teeth. Periodontal disease is the most common medical disorder among pets nationwide, affecting more than 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats by age three.
Just like people, the medical needs of senior animals change over time. In fact, pets age at nearly 7 times the rate humans do. As your cat or dog gets older, they require different nutrition programs, exercise routines and are prone to a variety of diseases. It is important to consider these changes throughout their lives.

We travel all the way from Brooklyn to this vet. That's how good it is and that's how much we love our dog.

We always feel that our dog Gidget is getting the very best care and that everyone truly cares about her. I think they love their patients as much as we pet parents do, and no one could ask for more whether it is an office visit, boarding, or emergency . We know that she is always receiving guidance and treatment that is in her best interest. They are super great working with the insurance and it is always done immediately so the out- of- pocket costs are minimized for us reducing any possible financial hardship. During the pandemic, and even now, they have made getting food and supplies seamless

We are new to the area and brought our dogs in. The staff was wonderful. They found a heart murmur in one of our babies and I am so glad they caught it early. I am glad that we found such a caring place to take our fur babies.

The hospital was easy to get to. I was pleased that they could take my rabbit Benjamin. I understand the limitations that covid has put on us but we need to be able to see our pets while they are being examined (Skye/zoom) because they can't talk to us and tell us how it went.

Be cautious when bringing a cat that goes outside into this clinic!
I brought my purebred cat in for an exam and beforehand when I called to book an appointment they asked if the cat goes outside so they knew what to test for and get a background on my cat.
Upon taking my cat out of the carrier the vet immediately called for backup and the vet tech held my cat down and put a muzzle on! I promptly asked why and to take it off, and the vet refused saying it’s precautions because my cat goes outside and my neighbor feeds feral cats and so my cat may have diseases! 😡 Its true my cat does go

Located in Syosset NY, they are a great place to take your pets weather it be for check ups or illness. Friendly and compassionate staff that will explain everything to you. Had my Siamese cat neutered here and was very happy. I had called around to several vets and found there pricing to be very fair. Nice waiting room with a cool fish tank kept my kids entertained too. I would definitely recommend this vet office. *****My cat recently (Feb 15th 2019) had a big issue. Not eating and vomiting for 2 days. I brought him right in and Dr. Gothelf suggested a quick x ray that revield a blockage in my

I just wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Harlan Gothelf from Syosset animal hospital. We are not patients of theirs, but our lab had an emergency last night and Dr. Gothelf came into the office just to see Guinness at 8pm Saturday night. He was unbelievably thorough and you could definitely see that he loves what he does. His total concern was on… Guinness. He took lots of X-rays with the help of his assistant.. his son, who came to help him. Thank goodness our dog is ok and Dr. Gothelf was not an alarmist. He was truly happy that the next morning Guinness was back to himself!! I wholeheartedly

They always went above and beyond for my sweet Mr.Kitty. This past week was tough as we had to put Kitty down and everyone made his last few days as comfortable as they could. He always received lots of love when he would come. Everyone here is absolutely wonderful and I always highly recommend when asked if I know of any places in the area. Thank you for everything you do for not only our family but all of the other families.

The staff are warm caring and friendly- the Doctors are wonderful. I know from experience they call you back on holiday weekend evenings! It's comforting to know in an emergency the doctors that know your pet will be there. They call and follow up and check in on how your pet is doing- thank you for taking such good care of Molly!!
