Mid Island Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. In addition, we offer a veterinary supervised boarding facility on our premises for your pet. Technology in veterinary medicine has grown tremendously and Mid Island Animal Hospital is able to provide the latest innovations in diagnosis and treatment of our patients.
In 1961 Dr. Robert Halperin established Mid Island Animal Hospital. He converted an old house into the office on Old Country Road. The practice was an immediate favorite of the community and started growing rapidly. Soon after the hospital was started Nassau County developed plans to widen Old Country Road and make it a major thoroughfare.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
I became a veterinarian because of my love of animals and the challenge of making their lives better. When I was 13 years old, my pet hamster became sick, and my visit to our local veterinarian transformed my life. From that time on, I did everything in my power to become a veterinarian. I went to a high school that had special programs in agriculture and worked on dairy farms during my summer vacations.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For your convenience, drop-off' appointments are available.

Dr. Kornet and the staff have cared for our Bella since she was a pup. For the past year she has been treated for low platelets, which is a very serious condition. This December marks one year of continuous treatment. I'm happy to say that she is doing well and has been given a fighting chance to recover from this condition only through the dedication of Dr. Kornet and the entire staff. I could not be happier with the treatment she has received. Best veterinary hospital, I would never go any other place.

Dr. Kornet and the entire staff are the most compassionate people!! We came in as an emergency and with proper and professional treatment, we left 4 days later with a completely different dog. Happy to say, Maggie will be celebrating her “12th” birthday next week due to the amazing care at Mid Island Animal Hospital !!❤️🐾

I have been been taking my pets to Mid Island for the past 24 years. Dr. Kornet is such a kind and caring doctor and is a pleasure to deal with, as well as the other doctors on staff. The vet techs and office workers are also very helpful and truly love the pets. I would recommend them to anyone who loves their pets and wants excellent care.

They are always very accommodating to my needs and my pets. They’re always willing to squeeze you in when the pets need to be seen right away. The whole staff is very friendly & are so helpful and kind. I love all the doctors- Vets there. They are so knowledgeable and great to all the people and of course the pets. I wouldn’t trade going to this practice ever.

I have had dogs all my life, and moved from state to state frequently. This is by far the best Vet I have ever been to. Dr Croscio is kind and thorough. She always takes time to call as well. Everyone there loves animals and they are always pleasant and receptive on the phone and in person. I highly recommend Mid Island(I drive 30 minutes to go there, and I have plenty of other options closer to home)

We love Dr. Raciti! We used to live in Hicksville and moved to Howard Beach, Queens. We still continue to travel to Mid Island Animal Hospital, because we know our pets are in the best hands and will receive the BEST and HONEST care at a reasonable price! She is thorough, and caring. From taking care of our Rosie the cat who passed away to now Chloe our yorkie puppy. We always knew our pets were in good hands. Rosie was not a healthy cat, found as a little kitten on the street with chronic sinus issues that consisted all the way to adulthood, kidney issues and then when she had cancer, the loss

My family has used Mid Island Animal Hospital for over 30 years. I believe that tells you how wonderful I think all the doctors and staff are at this facility. They have always been caring and concerned about our animals throughout the years. I trust them fully to care for my dogs as if they were their own pets. Love this animal hospital! The vets, the assistants and the office personnel are all professionals. They all genuinely care about the animals. I had to change vets a few years ago because the vets at another place kept on missing things. So far, my Duke has been treated extremely well and remains very healthy. I recommend them fully and without reservation.
