Providence Place
Providence Place provides assisted living, memory care and Alzheimer's services to elders in San Francisco. Enjoy peace of mind while Providence Place caters to the unique physical, emotional and dietary needs of your loved ones. From the early signs of memory loss to the last stages of dementia, your loved one will age gracefully with our proven care programs.

Bring your loved one to our assisted living community on a flexible hourly schedule and take your much needed break any day. My mom has been at Providence over two years now and it really feels as if she has another family in the caring staff of Providence Place. I truly feel that my mom is cared for as a person at Providence.
Services
Located in the heart of San Francisco, we are privileged that families trust us to care for their seniors. Our assisted living community is representative of the diversity of this wonderful city and we take great pride tailoring our care programs to the uniqueness of each resident. Providence Place is a little piece of heaven that fell on my lap.
Located in the heart of San Francisco's Medical District at 2456 Geary Street between Baker and Lyon Streets. With Kaiser Permanente across the street, UCSF Hospital on the corner and California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) and St. Mary's hospitals nearby, we can reach out to the best medical services our city offers to ensure your loved one gets the care they need.
Providence Place is an assisted living community serving San Francisco's elders for over 25 years. Explore the benefits of living at Providence and schedule a tour to visit us today. The ratio of caregivers to patients was far higher than I had seen in other facilities and the sense of close community and personal attention was much greater.
Our vision is a world without disease. As science works on a cure, we work tirelessly to provide those living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia the best quality life possible. When my grandmother first came to Providence Place she was in very bad health, she was given such good care right away, physically she was better, but what has made all the difference is her emotional health and how good she feels about where she lives.
Who takes care of the caregiver? We Do! Providence Place gives families the break they need with flexible hourly care services for the elderly. The ratio of caregivers to patients was far higher than I had seen in other facilities and the sense of close community and personal attention was much greater.

This is an extraordinary facility. Like me, you may be researching places for your elderly parent, and you may be feeling torn and even traumatized because you've reached the place where you need to put a parent in an assisted living facility. This has been the case for me--I never thought I would be making this kind of decision. I moved my mother with great trepidation right before Covid19 struck the city. I was able to visit my mother in person long enough to watch her relax, as her physical needs were taken care of with great tenderness. I realized she had been afraid and tense from pain, uncertainty

Providence Place is all about the wonderful caring staff, especially Catherine, Svetlana, and Ann Maria. I read how wonderful Providence Place is from other reviewers before our initial visit. The wonderful things the reviewers had to say proved to be so accurate. They REALLY care. Although our relative was there only 60 days, he was part of their family. We loved getting videos and photos of his daily events. We had been rejected from another facility, a fancy one in Kentfield, and were concerned about "eviction" going forward. They assured us they do not evict clients, but make

My mom suffered a mild stroke about a year ago. My brothers and I decided to bring her to Providence after a referral from my uncle. Catherine, the Wellness Director, Ann Marie, Caregiver on 1st floor and the entire staff have been so supportive and helpful during mom’s transition from home to assisted living. I never had to worry about the needs of my mom when on not there visiting. They offer a loving nurturing environment. Ann Marie is so passionate and caring about her job and the residence there. All meals are prepared fresh daily by Vicki, the resident cook, and so delicious, I can attest

The caregivers are what make Providence special. Our family has peace of mind knowing our Mom is well cared for. We've recommended Providence to others and most recently another family recommended an out-of-state relative to join Providence. This speaks a lot about how we feel about Providence.

Such an amazing place! Other places said they could help my mom (who has early onset Alzheimer's Disease) but this was the only place that could. They are so welcoming and homey. They spend their money on good staff and food.

We moved my mom into Providence Place on December 22, 2014 (from a larger assisted living facility). We toured several facilities in and near San Francisco before selecting Providence. The transition was difficult (as is often the case), but Catherine and her team exceeded expectations by accompanying us to doctor appointments (to describe her behaviors), and by listening to our concerns about medications, exercises, and activities. I appreciate how much Catherine and the caregivers work with me to ensure her continued comfort and safety – everyone is responsive to my questions and concerns.

We could no longer provide the specialized care mom needed. My brother's neighbor referred us to Providence Place and it was perfect for Mom. Mom is more engaged now as activities led by Svetlana with the residents help with social, motor skills and physical movements.
Providence Place is a comfortable place made to look like you're in someone's home. It does not have an institutional look or feel to it providing a warm and comfortable feeling for residents and families alike. The food is freshly made everyday and is well presented and is delicious! The staff really gets a chance to know each

Providence Place’s mission is to provide the highest quality of care for their residents, treating them with respect and dignity. They truly bring a personal touch of care to each individual.
We looked at many assisted living facilities throughout San Francisco and received a referral to Providence Place. Initially, when we looked at the website photos, we felt it was not a true representation of the facility. Once we toured the facility with Catherine, Health and Wellness Director, we were sold. The facility was small in relation to others. The caregiver to resident ratio was very small. It

I am writing a follow up to my earlier review. My mom has been at Providence Place for over three years now. Mom has had her ups and downs, but continues to do well under their care. I appreciate how much Catherine and the team work with me to ensure her continued comfort and safety. Another highlight of Providence Place is the low turnover of staff. Senior care is not easy, and Galina and Catherine have kept a stellar team of caring individuals. I have witnessed them deal with several challenging patients with grace. I recommend Providence Place without reservation.

Having been married to my wife for 16 years and being part of her very traditional Chinese family, I learned the value of respect and love for elders. It was a tough decision for the entire family to move my mother in law to an assisted living facility. Just like everyone else, we tried to keep her at home with 24 hour home care staff but it was a failure.

Our family toured every single facility in San Francisco, Marin and the Peninsula. Due to the fact that my mother in law speak very little English and has memory impairment, ideally we thought placing her in an exclusive Chinese speaking community

It is always a hard decision to choose to place a loved one into a Home. This place is small and a bit worn around the edges, there are no private rooms and barely any parking on the busy street outside. However, the positives make all the difference in the world. You will not get a fancy hotel experience here but the staff are warm, welcoming and genuine. The manager is quick to answer questions in person, phone or text and proactive in providing information and help. The staff are there not because it's their job, but they genuinely care for their residents well being, both physically and mentally

The GOLD standard in compassionate care for your loved one specializing in memory care.
I've looked at over 20 places in the bay area and nothing comes close.
The care givers are in touch with individual needs and go above and beyond to ensure each resident is comfortable, safe and well cared for. My Mom was admitted to the ER 3 weeks after moving in and the Director, Catherine visited us and offered to send a caregiver to help my Mom eat when needed. Providence Place has been great for us and takes great care of my father. He had previously been at Atria Burlingame but his mental state had deteriorated enough such that even their Memory Care floor could no longer take care of his needs anymore and his pureed diet restriction. Earlier this year I was given 30 days to find a new facility and thankfully I found Providence Place.

Since then, they've taken care of everything and watched carefully over him. It's wonderful that they can arrange any necessary doctor visits and accompany my dad there. I work outside the city during the week

After looking at several facilities, my dad and I met Galina and were very impressed with her and the care and passion she has for her facility. The staff is very caring and attentive making sure I receive daily updates via text or email of photos and videos of my mom.

Lana the activities director has been a huge part of my moms life engaging her in several activities and music daily. I can't say enough good things about the quality of life for the patients at Providence.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone seeking

My uncle had been had been at another (traditional) assisted living facility for about three years, and had already progressed to the memory wing. His dementia and other conditions then deteriorated to the point where he needed to find another place to live.

Providence Care was a lifesaver to my family. Along with exceptional service, their facility is the nicest I have ever seen. Galina has vast first-hand experience dealing with patients in extenuating circumstances. She ensured that her team made the transition smooth and was sensitive to the possibility of increasing depression, pain

It was great fun at Providence Place (Geary location) where we (a family member and close friends) celebrated Gloria's 90th Birthday! Gloria has been a resident there for the past 1-1/2 years. I especially like to applaud Lana, the Activities Coordinator, for the very fine job she did coordinating all the activities and acquiring the decorations. She made the birthday celebration memorable for all of us and she had other residents join in on the fun. Staff does a great job caring for their residents!

My brother has been at Providence Place for over 2 weeks andI have nothing but good to say about the facility and people there. The care and attention to my brother were focused on his needs from the moment he arrived. Everyone I met of the staff, the care givers, management, and activity director are to a person honestly warm and embracing. One of the first things they did was to ask me to make a list of the things my brother likes so that they could engage him with his own interests. From the beginning they involved him in activities and social life while encouraging him to do what he could

These folks are saints & angels at Providence....if you're reading this review you probably already know how difficult it is to care for someone in any stage of Dementia. The Providence team treats my Mom with dignity & respect, like she is part of their family.

The only thing to watch for would be to make sure the same team of people stays in place, as it's ultimately the commitment of the staff that makes this place great. As long as they keep their core team in place, and/or hire equally qualified replacements then i would see this as a very viable long term solution and

We placed my Mom at Providence Care in late April and have been very pleased with the care. After touring several other larger facilities, we felt that Providence provided a more home like vs an institutionalized environment for our Mom. The ratio of caregivers to residents is higher than at other facilities; the caregivers are attentive and caring, and the owner, Galina, and Catherine, the director is responsive to any suggestions for change. When my Mom first moved into the facility, the bathroom in her bedroom needed repair and the toilet seat needed replacement. The repairs were completed

When I first called and spoke to Catherine, Providence sounded like a great home care option that has experience with people who have mental disabilities. We set up an appointment for my family member and arranged for a preliminary in-home assessment. We called several times to confirm but did not hear back. On the day of the appointment, nobody showed. The office wasn't open because it was the weekend but I left a phone message and emailed. They never called to explain or apologize. This is not a good sign about their reliability.

Providence provides wonderful, loving care. The staff - from Galina and Catherine running the place, to the cooks (Jake) to Lana (activities) and every caregiver. My father is in the best situation possible because of the staff. He loves to eat and religion has been important, and Lana in particular will provide programs and music that each resident recognizes.

The transition was difficult, and we unfortunately had to move my father twice prior to finding a home at Providence. Other facilities just couldn't provide the services he required, but Providence - from the moment we got in touch

It's hard to leave your loved one in any institution, let's be honest. But if you have to, Providence Place on Geary is one of the best, and I've seen quite a few of them over the years. I was responsible for an elderly friend, and I put her in Providence three years ago. Last month she died there, with hospice care. The multi-story medium-size facility is clean and attractive, the food is really good (yes, I tried it!), but best of all is the staff. They're very attentive and caring.
