I booked this stay through airbnb. Although our host Desi was wonderful, I do not recommend staying at the Makai Resort. The morning of our check-in I requested to see if my family could check in a littler earlier than 4pm just to drop off items from our overstuffed rental car. I gave the receptionist at the resort my name and information only to discover that the resort did not even have our reservation! The receptionist seemed baffled and sure that there was no one under my name checking in. I insisted that I had a reservation and gave her my confirmation code. The woman told me that it was not

Although the accommodations were nicer than a motel 6, the way we were treated were as if we were staying at a motel 6. Every single item was made clear that if we needed anything else it would be charged. Every time we needed something, we had to walk to the office to get it ourselves. Even the fact that we only had four plates, four forks, four spoons, etc was ridiculous. We had family staying in their own rooms, and it was hard to figure out what to do when we wanted to eat dinner together. There was no sense of Ohana, and it was just very disappointing. We were not welcomed with any Hawaiian

We just got home from our time at the Makai Club and it was fantastic! I can't say enough great things about the staff that worked there. Our room was the cleanest room I've stayed in and the resort went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable traveling during this time. Our AC went out following a power outage from a bad storm and they had it fixed by the time we came back from breakfast. They also had beach equipment we could borrow and snorkel gear to rent so we had everything we needed. It was truly the best vacation we've ever taken and we can't wait to go back!

Quiet, safe location with plenty of parking. No noise problems from neighbors and the walls were sufficiently insulated that I did not notice any sound from next door or below.
Room has everything (air conditioning, full kitchen, lanai, safe, washer / dryer), as well as plenty of space.
Spotless and clean, it's clear they made an effort to disinfect the room.
Nearby pool had a much appreciated jacuzzi.
Only thing that needs to be improved is the free Wi-Fi is not encrypted - your data is not safe. This can be easily resolved by a configuration change if Makai Club Resort has IT staff.

Makai Club Resort was a great home base for our recent trip to Kauai. The island is amazing and Makai Club Resort was everything the island had to offer in one condensed package. Beautifully landscaped, well maintained, friendly staff, great mountain views, close to a few shops and multiple beaches. Was my first trip there, though my wife has been many times with work. I'm sure we will now be coming back together as often as we can.

I'm a condo owner, so we spent a week on the property. Our unit was very comfortable, one private room, plus a pull out sofa in the living room. The kitchen was very well equipped. There are Beach chairs and umbrellas available for loan, as well as games and books and bicycles. If you haven't been to Kauai for awhile, make sure you are up to date on changes to the park system. There are barbecues and fire pits, as well as a swimming pool. Close to Hanalei, and north shore beaches. Trading into this condo or staying as a hotel is a good value.

This is a good place for families or couples who want a convenient jumping off point for exploring Kauai's north shore. It's not opulent, has no ocean views (although a few units have views of the Kauai's amazing northern mountains and their occasional waterfalls), but it's well maintained, units have been relatively recently renovated, and the place has a relaxed, friendly vibe. Top floor units are best. In-room laundry, AC, free WI-FI, a grill area, and a small pool and hot tub, plus bikes to use at no cost for first two hours.

Princeville is a town of rental condos; among them, this place was solid and a strong value. We stayed in a two-bedroom cottage, a huge 1500 square feet: two legit master suites at each end with a spacious kitchen, dining, living room, and lanai in between, all of which legitimately had space for the 6 people that can be accommodated here. It's clearly an older design and interior, but everything is well maintained and functional. They're upfront that there's no air conditioning in the cottages, but that wasn't a problem: it never gets too hot and it's constructed with

This is a great location, especially if you're a golfer, because the Makai golf course is one of the nicest I've been able to play. We stayed in the cottages with a family of four. It was a two bedroom two bath cottage. The staff at the resort are all super nice, and very accommodating. The resort is old and our cottage has some issues. I e added a couple of pictures. He had a cockroach, and the staff reacted in a nice timely manner. Also, no air conditioning in the cottages - so keep that in mind if booking during summer months. There are quite a few nice places to eat within walking

Beautiful place in the center of two little shopping towns. Splitting our time up north and down south didn't leave enough time to enjoy all of the amenities of this resort, but they had plenty to do if you didn't want to leave the grounds. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Roosters roam freely everywhere on this island and the crowing isn't only in the morning. That's nature though folks! If you honestly can't relax and enjoy, well... maybe you should find a high rise hotel and stay on the top floor to be away from the bird shenanigans! The grounds are superb

This was our 2nd RCI exp. on Kauai in Princeville and my 4th time on Kauai. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Our trip started off with 3 partly sunny days. Then, we got the scary news that Hurricane Lane was coming our way! :-( The storm passed thank goodness and turned into a tropical storm, still lots of rain the rest of our stay. We enjoyed swimming in the Hanalei Bay with warm waters, beautiful rainbows, and rain gently sprinkling on our face. Hanalei is 5 minutes away. We really enjoyed body surfing there with calm waves. Makai is environmentally friendly. They recycle toiletries

I was super impressed by Makai Club Resort. My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect for our needs/wants! I can't wait to come back.
We stayed in a one bedroom, one bath condo at the edge of the property. From our lanai, we had amazing tropical views, with the mountains looming in the distance--all in the most perfect seclusion. No views of other buildings or properties, no noise from neighbors, just the roosters and the pitter patter of rain on leaves.
The condo itself was amazing. Very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked

Horrible customer service. I made a reservation for over a month out and had to cancel LESS THAN 12 hours after making the reservation because of circumstances out of my control. Makai Club Resort was not understanding of the circumstances or willing to work with me, even giving me a partial refund. Very disappointing experience. I recommend going somewhere with better customer service.

We stayed for 8 days/7 nights at the Makai Club. It was our first time in Kauai and this little condo was perfect! We had 4 people in our one bedroom condo. Two of us stayed in the bedroom and the other 2 used the pull-out couch as a bed. Bathrooms had a washer and dryer inside that we used almost every night to wash our sandy clothes from the days at the beach. The condo came with laundry packets but we brought our own detergent as well. The staff was so friendly every time we called down or ran into them. They let us refill our large water bottles everyday with their cool water dispenser (one

10 day stay. Apartment 709. One bedroom. Top floor. No elevator. Not handicap accessible. Big picture windows in living room and the bedroom face the jungle. The trees are 20 feet from those windows. Quiet & peaceful.
Apartment in good condition. Kitchen appliances are 15 years old but all work perfectly. The king size bed is comfortable. 55" TV in living room with blu ray player, 36" in bedroom. Basic cable only, no showtime, HBO, ESPN, etc. Internet speed & wifi work well.
Resort in the name is exaggerated. One tiny swimming pool and a Webber BBQ does not make a resort

We are on our Honeymoon in Kauai and was gifted this resort stay. It is a large condo, one bed and one bath with a nice size patio. Kitchen and laundry too!! The roosters are hilarious. We are from AZ so I was awake at 3am, before they started crowing. They're not constant, just every now and then. I don't think you can escape them based on other reviews of resorts on the island. Easy parking, beautiful landscape, clean roads, close to beaches. My only complaint is we could not figure out how to reach the front office after we landed at Lihue. We didn't know if anyone would

We stayed only one night, because we had an early morning kayak tour in the morning. However, the room we got was almost disgusting in appearance and smell. The furniture was old, dingy in color and overall not coordinated. The kitchen was strictly for one-person-at-a-time size. There was no balcony or any view that was the "parking lot". The room had a smell of "old furniture that has been soaked under many years of humid climate". The air conditioner unit blew directly at the bed, and there was no way the vent could be adjusted to direct the airflow otherwise. Thank goodness

When I landed on the island I called to let them know we were going to be checking in a little later than 4pm. They informed me that my reservation had been canceled because they over booked the room. I had received two confirmation e mails from them and then received no notice that it had been canceled. They didn't even try to help me find alternative accommodations and I was stuck with no place to stay. I will NEVER book here again. That is awful customer service and a horrible way to start a vacation.

Simple, clean, SUPER friendly, and the perfect home away from home. Rooms are very private and the balcony from your room is very private for most rooms. No nonsense charges like other resorts, lots of free rentals from the front desk including really high quality beach chairs you can keep for the whole week! Plus, there were NO timeshare presentations, lots of resort activities (although they were cheesy and cheap), WELL stocked kitchens, good washer/dryer, and the best part- AIR CONDITIONED ROOMS! Overall: a great value and a perfect home base for adventurous vacationing.

This resort was chosen by my mom-in-law and her timeshare, so I'll leave out any comments about price value. But, for two couples, the Makai Club Cottages are fantastic! We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage. The rooms are huge and clean. We had two rooms with private baths and king beds. One shower allows for two to shower at once! That was ours. ;) No ants. Just chickens, but they are everywhere on Kauai. Upon check-in, they push hard for another timeshare schpleal... Even for timeshare owners already. They also offer discounts, but nothing better than you find online. This is also not on the
