Phillips Farms
Our roots run deep here in Lodi. With over 150 years of family farming, the Michael David name has become more than just a winery; it's a culture. We and Lodi go way back. We've been farming this soil since the 1860's and cultivating wine grapes since the early 20th century.

Our founders, brothers Michael and David Phillips, are 5th generation grape growers who have raised their families in the vineyard, and now the 6th generation has joined the team, Mike's son Kevin and daughter Melissa. We, more than most, understand the importance of leaving it better than you found it for future generations.
Services
If you're anything like us, you feel more comfortable surrounded by a band of freaks than a bunch of buttoned up, prim & proper types. Add a curated selection of our favorite Michael David wines shipped directly to your door, and you my friend have got yourself a party. Get between 25%-35% off all wine and merchandise, because science has proven everybody loves saving money.
With our expansive grounds, onsite cafe, gourmet produce, and award-winning bakery, there's something for everyone. And we've got some pretty fantastic wine too. Whether you're coming by for a quick stop or you'd like to make a day of it with some friends, we'd love to see you! We have created a tasting experience at our wine bar that is both safe and fun for you to try our latest wine releases.
Nestled among nearly 200 acres of vines, Bare Ranch features a historical house built in 1903, a wandering stream, waterfall, a botanical garden, and a stunning stonewall. The breathtakingly beautiful grounds offer a picturesque setting for private events in the heart of Lodi wine country.

Perfect for a quiet retreat or for entertaining, enjoy lounging poolside, barbequing, playing lawn games, or just basking in the beauty of the historic house and grounds. The property also features one of California's first bonded wineries, operating prior to Prohibition, and during Prohibition just made "grape juice."

Absolutely the beat wine next to Italian Red. I am happy to hear this wine will be available in LCBO ontario by May 2022. Cannot say enough good about the taste, the smell and the wonderful notes ❤️

Oh my, I had not been there since my kids were small and the place was a pumpkin patch! We met two friends, visiting from New York, who had worked there back in their college days and have gone on to become prominent members of the Cornell University teaching Community.
Dr. Mark and his s/o Kitty joined us for a tasting at the winery.
How this place has grown into a premier venue with beautiful grounds, a first class tasting room and very very nice wines Right in Hwy 12 and just east of I 5, well worth a visit.
Wines being so much to one's taste I'll let you be the judge. Myself

My family are wine club members and love to stop by for lunch and an afternoon tasting at Michael David. The food is good, the wine is delicious, and the staff is so friendly and thoughtful! They also have an amazing outdoor space available in the summer months - highly recommend reserving lounge seating.

Michael David Winery has such a beautiful ambiance, indoors and outdoors.

I recently came here for wine tasting, and I enjoyed all of the wines. The Freakshow 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite.

Michael David Winery didn't disappoint me at all! I will be telling my friends & family about this place.

My friends and I have visited Michael-David Winery a couple of times this year for their bottle/bistro service. Reservations through their website is a breeze! When I had to make adjustments to one of the reservations, I really appreciated their quick response and how accommodating they were. We were seated outdoors both times - once at a table near their tasting room, the other at couches near a water feature.

Their grounds are absolutely beautiful, especially the outdoor patio area where there is a large pond, lots of shrubs and trees, great-looking furniture, and tons of umbrellas so customers

This should really be a 3.5 review.

I can't give it more than that, despite having a good experience recently.

I'm still angry about a 2014 experience with them -- they essentially ruined my birthday and left me and 20 of my friends stranded, even though they confirmed prior too, and it was never an issue. Day of, they said I wasn't allowed to come, for no reason in particular. I wouldn't have known that if I had called to give them a heads-up we were on our way.

Honestly, I literally would NEVER drink their wine anywhere and I'd tell anyone how horrible they were.

Pros: beautiful grounds and fun outdoor setup - excellent for casual, outdoor get-together, good pizza
Cons: very limited menu, mediocre service at best & charged for bad wine that had to be replaced with another bottle. When they say prepackaged charcuterie, they mean it - slapped down a grocery store plastic tray complete with unopened peel off film. Pretty lame effort for a winery.
If you adjust your expectations and think of this more like an outdoor lunch on the go, you'll be fine. With very little effort, this place could be great.

I've really tried to like this winery.
I understand policy's and procedures especially during these times but there's a way to come across in a Professional manner. You will not get this here!
I've been a wine member at many places for the last 20 years and have never experienced the feeling I get when I'm here. When you feel like an inconvenience as customer it's just not a good experience.
Their grounds are beautiful and the food is great but it's not worth it in my opinion. There are many more wineries that I can spend my money at and they will appreciate

My partner and friends treated me to wine tasting for my birthday! This place was awesome. Great vibe and beautiful grounds. My favorite wines were: Rage, Symphony, Michael David Zinfandel.
This is the winery for you if you're looking for a place that is laid back, friendly, fun and affordable... oh... and if you love flowers like me!...specifically Dahlias. Typically They are so hard to fine, but are in abundance here.

Nice experience wine tasting. Make a reservation! After wine tasting we went to the cafe (two restaurants on site the cafe and bistro). The cafe is first come first serve. The bistro is served via reservation if you have patio/garden seating. Each restaurant has two different menus. Visited on a Sunday afternoon around 1130. Plenty of private parking available. It appeared that there were a lot of people given the cars. However it was easy to to social distance and during wine tasting they make sure you have space to do so. Very good customer service, staff is very attentive and helpful. Tried

Beautiful place. I'm knocking off one star because we got seated in the one table in our area that was not under the shade and it was a super hot day, table and chairs were too hot to even touch. We asked the hostess if there might be another table that was more covered and she said to hold on and she would go check for us and left us there. Well she never came back. That was kind of irritating. Anyways, our server finally came and we told her the hostess was gonna check on another table for us but never came back but we requested maybe if we could have one of the umbrellas that were around

Growing up in the area, Michael David has always been a consistent and enjoyable experience for a full day of wine tasting or even just a stop on a tour. The wine is great, grounds are gorgeous, and I love their seasonal experiences (specifically fall at MD!) I last went on 7/10/21 with a few friends for tasting and lunch and had a great time with our server (taster? Bartender? Not sure her official title but Janet was so sweet with our tasting!) decided to just go ahead and join the wine club because, why not?! I just returned home from a vacation to a handwritten note from Janet which I&apos

Had breakfast there, it was outstanding. Had eggs benedict with a side of well done bacon. Service was excellent, had to wait a bit to get in but it was worth every minute of it. Have been there before and had lunch with the exact same results.

Loved the atmosphere(s)! As you walked around there were new areas of aesthetic appeal and charm to this winery. Bottles are reasonably priced. We got a Freakshow Chardonnay for $18. The paninis were delicious—chicken and bacon panini, yummy. There were only 4 of us and we did get charged gratuity of 18%. Felt that was a little out of the norm for parties smaller than 6. Regardless, the service was great.

Very nice place. Had lunch at the Cafe. Very good. Relaxing and welcoming. Be aware though. The areas near the pond/fountain/fall is off limits. There are no signs indicating this. Those areas are reserved during certain hours. Management: Maybe put some signage up? It's difficult to be welcomed on one hand, then told, "you're not supposed to be here" on the other. I wasn't happy being scolded by staff. Yes, I believe I will go back. And, maybe check to see if places are clearly marked.

Love this winery. I wish we would have had reservations. We showed up and we were seated outside in a big tent:(
We found out the food outside is a different menu that included home made pizzas and grilled food!
My garden burger had zero taste. I specifically asked what brand it was (as I know after eating them for 15 years plus) bTW: if it is the brand "GardenBurger"... it's good. The menu said "GardenBurger". I always double check cause I'm that picky. Spicey black bean burgers are a home run as well if they happen to be on menu (FYI to chef) who told the server

My family in Indiana has been drinking Freakshow for years. By total coincidence, turns out I've been quarantining only 15 minutes from the winery.

Spent a great Sunday afternoon enjoying wine and paninis at the winery. Everything was outside, and it was the most socially distant dining experience I've had during COVID.

It got a bit chilly later in the day, so make sure to bundle up! Enjoy!

Michael David Winery is located on Hwy 12, but not much else is nearby the area (although there are other wineries within a reasonable driving distance).

My husband, little girl dog and I decided to stop by this winery last month on a Friday afternoon. At the time, they were only open for curb side pick up. We pulled up to the store and an employee came out and asked if we were looking to make a purchase or coming to do a pick up. We were just looking to buy a bottle of wine, so she brought out a menu of their wines and prices. She also brought us a pamphlet regarding their wine club, in case

My friends and I came here when we had 40 mph crazy winds. It was unfortunate that the weather didn't turn out because I really wanted to visit their grounds. We had breakfast at their cafe and we lucked out and got a table immediately.

After our hearty breakfast we went over and tried all the varietals. I had no idea that Earthquake was made by Michael David, I bought a Zin and a Cab in the Earthquake label. My friend Priya is a wine club member so me, Carol, and DC had free tastings and a discount on all their wines! I took advantage of the club member prices and bought several bottles

Love this place! Where do I begin. The atmosphere from the inside out is lovely. I live that this location is perfect for a business meeting, or a mommy's day out. The fact that I can bring my children with me when I go and their in a safe environment is a breath of fresh air. The play area for the kids is just darling. Every time I've brought my children they've had a great time. They leave exhausted. I love the touches of water at the location, and the variation of areas available to explore.
The restaurant portion is small, so you might have to wait depending on the day and time you decide
