St Amant Winery
The Bootleg Society Wine Club provides exclusive access to St. Amant wines and special events throughout the year. A classic rendition of Cabernet - 13% alcohol, spicy with a dense core of ripe berries, cassis, and sweet tannins. The wine is impeccably balanced and has delicious fruit and savory notes that linger on the palate.

One of the less discussed and less romanticized aspects of crafting distinctive wine is harvest logistics. Logistics is a term generally relegated to the manufacturing sector and supply chain when figuring out to how to move products most efficiently and effectively from point A to point B. And for wineries, once all the fluff and romance are removed, we are not much more than a fairly messy manufacturer.
Services
St. Amant Winery is a family owned winery located in Lodi, California that prides itself in producing handcrafted wines of superb quality. Founded in 1979 by Tim and Barbara Spencer, St. Amant crafts distinctive wines from Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian varietals in addition to California's own Zinfandel.
It's fairly obvious to those that have visited our winery that we didn't enter the wine business to feed our egos. It wasn't a lifestyle choice, a summer home, or the need to have our name on a wine label. We were not Hollywood transplants or financial tycoons. Our story is one borne of necessity. In 1970 my parents purchased 43 acres in the Jackson Valley of Amador County.
A classic rendition of Cabernet - 13% alcohol, spicy with a dense core of ripe berries, cassis, and sweet tannins. The wine is impeccably balanced and has delicious fruit and savory notes that linger on the palate. This unique wine is dark, inky, and offers intense aromas of dark fruits mixed with spicy notes.
Bright crisp lemony flavors highlight this delicious summer sipper. Delightfully refreshing, Verdelho's naturally high acidity make it an ideal companion for the dinner table. Made from the same vineyard as our award winning Touriga, this rose features delicate floral aromas with refreshing fruit and a clean finish.
This Portuguese variety is very aromatically distinct revealing crushed berries, violets, and spicy undertones. The aromas follow through on the palate delivering a richly textured, delicious wine. Our 2nd vintage of this traditional "mixed blacks" grape. Alicante's dark color and intense fruit helped it rise to prominence in Portugal.

This winery has some of the few true ports in CA made with Portuguese varietals. While the "tastings"are offered in a warehouse setting, these are some of the best tawny ports I've ever enjoyed at a very fair price. The staff are really nice and take the time to explain their wines and the backgrounds of each. Really worth a visit.

Great tasting room in a little industrial park. All the wines were reds, which was perfect for me. I didn't have a wine I didn't like on their tasting menu. Everything was excellent. We weren't told of a tasting fee, but we also purchased several wines. The staff were great and shared many stories of the history of the winery and area and generally were fun to chat with. My favorite wine tasting experience in the area.

This is a great place for wine tasting. It does have an industrial outdoor setting, but inside they have an open room full of barrels for a barrel tasting on one of their wines. We came here during a Tempranillo event, so I am not sure if the barrel tasting for one of them is ongoing moving forward, but I hope it is because it was a great experience! We had one of the best customer services experiences here with a young man that told us a lot of information about each wine we tasted and he seemed very passionate. The barrel tasting one was awesome because we learned a lot about the barrel process

My family and I stopped in to pick up the Ports that I've heard so much about! I poured them at a private event and had great reviews! Barbara helped us in the tasting room. She was very sweet and knew her wines. As someone in the industry that has been recommending St. Amant for years, I'm so glad I have been and will continue doing so!

I can overlook the warehouse setting if wines are really well done, but here they are above average but not exceptional. If you're looking for atmosphere to go with wine tasting, there's plenty of better choices in Lodi.

Made an appointment to visit. Barbara treated us like old friends and offered wines and port that were not on the menu. Happily bought several bottles and joined the wine club. This is a great winery with wonderful wine and staff.

I want to be selfish and not write a review because I don't want the secret to get out about this place. This is my second visit to Lodi and my second time stopping into this small, handcrafted winery tucked away in an industrial park. It's NO FRILLS and that's just fine by me as the wine is AMAZING. Everything from the crisp white Verdelho to the Mohr-Fry Old Vine Zinfandel delight your palette and stand out among all other wineries in Lodi. The bootleg port is also super delicious, and you can't beat the prices on these amazing wines. Everything I tried, I loved, and

Great little spot off the beaten path. Don't let that fool you, not the typical French Bourdeau looking place. We found looks deceiving and we now have some of our most favorite wines from St. Amant. Including the most amazing sipping Port you'll ever taste. The folks that work there are extremely knowledgeable and just super-friendly! Heading back there in a couple weeks.

Staff here is wonderful. After nearly a decade of enjoying wines in the Lodi area, this is the first place where I joined the wine club. Partially because of the awesome staff that teach me something every time I visit, but mostly because literally every single wine I've had from here I absolutely loved. I routinely stock all of their production wines, and snatch up their members-only wines regularly as well.
The winery is in a bit of an unexpected location, but well worth the drive.

This place served the best wines during our day outing to Lodi. You need to pay attention to the location because it doesn't look like a winery. It's in an industrial complex. But well worth the hunt.

Wonderful winery. Off the beaten path and hidden within a more industrial looking complex but wonderful wines, good people and a relaxing tasting room.

Give these guys a try when you are in Lodi wine tasting. You will be glad you did.

Cute little place in the middle of an industrial park, so it's not exactly what we expected when we got there. HOWEVER, great experience from the time we parked until the time we left.

When we arrived, they were finishing grape processing and we had a nice conversation with the owner about the process. We then proceeded to the tasting room, where we tasted a white, a rose, several reds, and 2 ports.

The server was friendly, informative, and flexible. We found their wines to be tasty and fruit forward - we each bought a bottle of different wines we liked, and hope that we will find more

If you like good wine and friendly people this is the spot. Nathan (I hope I got that right) was very friendly and knowledgeable! He explained each wine and even told us a little back story on the labels. Not to mention he is one of the wine makers! I will definitely be back to revisit all of their wines! Oh yeah tasting was complimentary!

We've been coming here since about 1997 on the advice of wine educator Kathe Barnett. She was working for Michael David (which was still called Phillips back then) and she said we just had to try them. Tim Spencer was doing it right, and out of a tiny, out of the way warehouse.

They are still in that same warehouse. Sadly, Tim died but he taught his son, Stuart well. Stuart now crafts the wines and is following in his father's footsteps. Barbara, Tom's wife, has always been the face and the voice of the winery and is one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Come here. Make

Highly recommended for wine geeks. Nice depth to the wines. Wineries like St. Amant will dispel the notion that Lodi produces only bulk wine. I loved the barbera, the zins and the touriga nactional. These tend to be food friendly wines. I was also fortunate enough to taste both the 2012 and 2013 Lodi Native wines. This is a project by six wineries where they use ancient zinfandel vines, neutral oak and native yeasts. Both were excellent and worthy of at last short term cellaring. More savory than fruity.

This is the 2nd time that I've been here in the last 2 years. The first time, I didn't buy anything. The second time, I bought the Tawny Port. Their ports are delicious! They are located in an industrial looking area, which can be somewhat hard to find. There was only 1 lady working behind the counter and she was very sweet and genuine. I would recommend this place for their delicious ports.

Summary: Some very interesting varietals of the Spanish/Portuguese variety (a couple we had never heard of before), good for people that like bigger flavors and that earthy manuery smell, and very friendly pourers. Tasting was free as well.

This place is a bit difficult to find. You have to go into the commercial complex and cut right, then in the building H or I on the left there should be a sign for the winery. Park and walk toward the back where the tasting room is.

I went here for the first time with my wife and her parents on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We were greeted as soon
