O Brien Estate
We would like to invite you to experience our home in Napa Valley. We have lived at O'Brien Estate for the last 20 years, moving our family here with a passion for wine and an appreciation for the Napa Valley lifestyle. Our home sits next to our winery, nestled within the 33 acres of estate vineyards that exclusively supply the grapes we use in our wines.

We knew this site had potential for exceptional white wines with its heritage going back to the historic 1976 "Judgement of Paris" Tasting, when an adjacent vineyard supplied grapes used in the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, which won first place in the tasting for white wines. But it was unclear what O'Brien Estate was capable of producing with red wines.
Services
Visit O'Brien Estate to experience our exclusive, small production wines in an outdoor, relaxed and private environment, away from crowds and other guests. Our open air tastings emphasize the spectacular views of the Mayacamas and Stag's Leap mountains. Relax and take it all in. As you taste through our elegant wines while seated in barrel stave Adirondack chairs next to the vineyard, you will feel authentically at home.
We look forward to reconnecting and sharing time with you once again at our beautiful estate. As always, reservations are required to ensure that your tasting experience is private, personalized and made-to-order. You may book your reservation and see our current availability by using our convenient online reservation system, TOCK.
Do you allow walk-in guests? We are unable to offer walk-in appointments but are open seven days a week to accommodate your schedule. During our peak season, our popular tastings sell out and many reservations are taken by our members. We encourage you to book your appointment 2-3 weeks in advance to receive your desired day and time.
For the select few, wine is a foundational element of life. Their palates are sensitive to the nuances that separate fine wine from the ordinary: the nose, the sensation on the palate, the finish. Wine speaks directly to their hearts, their minds, and their souls. O'Brien Estate wines are created for those with a discerning palate in search of wines that enrich life itself.
Join us as we travel from Venice to Athens, experiencing Croatia's big hitters - Dubrovnik & Split - as well as historical sites Ephesus in Kusadasi and the Acropolis in Rhodes. Join us as we follow the Douro River through Portugal and into Spain, experiencing the views of steeply terraced hillsides, quaint villages, and acres of ripe vineyards.

15 vineyards in 4 days and this was our most memorable. Jake was awesome. Just a perfect small family low energy spot to kick it and learn wine. Can't wait to come back every time in Napa.

If you have time to visit one winery in Napa Valley, this should be the one. It included everything I could possibly hope for from a tour/tasting. From our host, Marilyn, who was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and funny. To the family dog, Molly, lazing around and greeting guests. To the casual setting in Adirondack chairs overlooking the vineyard and twenty year old rose bushes. To the heart warming stories about the winery's history and the romantic poems (written by Bart O'Brien for his wife Barb and read to us by Marilyn) on the backs of the bottles.

So many of the tastings

Great wine, learned a ton about how Napa grows wine differently from others, and what makes each wine different. Small, boutique winery, but absolutely worth visiting if you can get a reservation.

I had a wonderful time at the O'Brien estate. My wine educator was very knowledgeable and very kind, and of course the wines themselves were excellent. It was a special experience sampling wines in their vineyard while taking in the scenery around us. I bought several of the bottles of their merlot and their special merlot/cabernet blend to take home to enjoy with my friends and family. If you are in the area, make sure to stop by this estate.

Highly recommend O'Brien Winery! My first winery experience in Napa Valley was excellent because Max was so hospitable and knowledgable! My group of five were all perfectly accommodated. He made our visit unforgettable and we all hope to return soon. Our experience was truly one of a kind thanks to Max! (and Marilyn too!)

We started our day at O'Brien and it set the bar VERY high. We were greeted upon arrival by Marilyn, who was the best host with her knowledge of the Estate, the beautiful love stories behind the wines and not to forget her photography skills! The wines were exceptional (I am not a huge merlot fan, and their Merlot is one of the best wines I have ever tasted) and the vineyard beyond gorgeous. We visited three other wineries during our weekend and this one was by far the best. We will be back!

Wow. What a quaint winery. The walk through the vineyard and the adorable and comfortable seating areas outside are so fun. Marilyn is so educated and such a delight to guide you through your tasting. She was so fun and knowledgeable and quickly became part of our group/friends. These wines are some of the best we've had and the family vineyard type feel made this a MUST SEE stop while in Napa. Trust me - taste these wines on your next trip - hand crafted wines by the best of the best.

We have been members here for nearly 6 years. It's by far the best wine we've ever had and the only wine club we've been a part of for this long. It's also one of the only places in which we love the reds and whites equally.
They also put great effort in making their members feel like family. Where else can you get invited to the owner's house for Valentine's dinner and then that same year get invited to go on a cruise with them! Yes, that's what it's like being a member here!

O'Brien Estate Winery is one of my top favorites! I didn't have time for a tasting, this visit (also because it was just me and I can't drive after the O'Brien experience!!), but I stopped in to buy a couple bottles of wine for our family visit. The staff is always top-notch - they teach/talk about the wines, teaching important bits of information, and answer any questions you might have. You don't need an appointment to just go in & buy wine. However, if they're pouring the next taste for a scheduled group, you may have a bit of a wait. Trust me - it's

We finally visited O'Brien Estate! I've had their reserve cab stuck in my head for 2 years after a phenomenal dinner tasting, so expectations were amongst the highest I've had going to any winery. Thankfully, we got Jorge as our host. This guy is gold!

Jorge is a newer addition to the O'Brien team from some of the recent COVID related Napa closures, and was an absolute steal for the O'Brien family to pick up. Tons of knowledge, obvious passion, and already insightful into the story and atmosphere that make O'Brien special. Had a blast picking Jorge's brain on

Love, love this vineyard from the land it sits on to the people who work there and of course the wine. Husband and I were one of two small groups there enjoying what was essentially a private tasting with a wine educator. I appreciated the info we received about the history of the winery, the founding lovebirds, each wine we tasted, the effects of recent fires on the area, the valley history, etc. We tasted 2018 chardonnay, Romance, Merlot, seduction, Cabernet and a limited 2016 merlot. My favorite was Seduction. Husband's favorite was a Cabernet. But you can't go wrong with any of their

It was a smoky air sort of day in Napa this past weekend and the winery alerted me they were closing for the day to be extra safe and will refund my money for tasting. Of course I was disappointed but absolutely THRILLED to see how they handled this last minute decision for staff and their guests by offering a complimentary tasting of 4 of their wines for our home. We picked it up the next day and couldn't believe our eyes- 2 beautiful wine glasses, some educational materials, 4 small glass bottles of their whites and reds, a box of artisan chocolates, all tucked away in a nice O'Brien

This winery was our first stop on our Napa trip, and it was the best by far. Wonderful one on one tasting experience on the owner's porch. Not rushed, exceptional service, and great wine. Sure we visited some other wineries with "lower" tasting fees, but O'Brien was the best value by far.

What a great find. O'Brien is small but lovely. Our tasting was personal, with Jorge sitting with us one on one the whole time, explaining the winemakers decisions, the different aspects of the wine, and the history of the winery/area. We loved it! Great wine as well.

This place was amazing. It's a small family run winery which means that they take they time to talk to you and make it a more meaningful experience. We went on a tasting with Rob the first weekend the winery opened after COVID and oh my gosh, he was phenomenal. He was so knowledgeable and really helped my mom with a tasting who is new to the wine scene. He was really patient with us and created a really enjoyable wine experience. I would definitely visit this place again and highly recommend if you're in the fence. Their seduction wine is to die for!!!!

I've always wanted to visit O'brien estate and it did not disappoint. Such a gorgeous estate with great views of the valley. All estate grown with around 6k cases direct to consumer do very hard to find anywhere else post 2008 vintages. Excellent Merlots, red blends and cabernets. The cabs were not big and bold as I thought but great nonetheless. The wine club prices are the same as non-club members the difference is the free shipping and complementary tasting. It's off the beaten path of popular areas in Napa but definitely worth a visit.

One of THE best wineries in Napa! Beautiful location that you can enjoy wine tasting among the beautiful landscape. Our guide, Marilyn, was lovely making us feel like we've been friends for a long time whilst telling us about the wine. There were many favorites that we tasted and purchased a few bottles! We definitely will come again we more friends to enjoy!

I can't believe I haven't written a review of O'Brien. We heard about this winery from a sommelier in Texas. We are so glad we tried it. We have gone twice, once alone and the second time with friends. Both times we sat outside, which is the best part. I love sitting outside in Napa versus sitting in a room or cave. They have a winery dog and sometimes the winemaker brings his, which I love. Julio helped us both times and he was cool. I wish I had his job. You get to just sit back, relax and enjoy. The wines are beautiful, and I love that there is a bold Merlot. This winery is on

This was the last winery stop of a few for the day and it was my birthday. Jason was our host and had to deal with our dozens of comments and questions, but he was up to the task.

We sat outside with Mr. Hobbes the cat lounging on the table and Heidi the dog lounging near the vines. Jason gave us the history of the winery and how each wine relates to the story of the owners.

He sent us on a walk through the vineyard with Heidi as our guide, while he put together a cheese plate for us.

All of the wines were great and as we were putting together an order it just made sense to join the

I happened to travel to Napa at the right time and with the perfect group of gals (one of which was a certified wine/Napa connoisseur). Thankfully she knew what she was doing and had the wherewithal to book a tasting at this place.

We had an initial appointment but due to timing (and by timing, I mean my lateness) we had to reschedule. Thankfully it was low season and we were able to change it for later in the day. We were greeted by a very nice guy, and taken to his "office" (I know, sounds suspicious, but his office is actually a nice place out back to enjoy the wine with a view)

Total 5 star experience all the way! If you are looking to do a relaxed and informative wine tasting without lots of people around, O'Brien is your place! They are appointment only so make sure you call or e-mail ahead.

We arrived at 11am for our tasting. Sioban was our guide and she was fabulous. After introducing herself, she walked us outside to a gorgeous area to sit and drink the wine, right next to the grapes. We were the only people there for a tasting minus one group of 4 that was on the other side of the vineyard. Sioban brought us one wine at a time and told us about each, in addition

We travel to the Napa Valley at least six times per year, so I'm always looking for new wineries to explore. I asked around about O'Brien and not many folks in the Valley seemed to know a lot about the place, only that they have a "gimmick" of printing love poems on their bottles. This made me a little nervous until I came to Yelp and read all of these glowing reviews. I am so very happy that I decided to visit last month!

O'Brien is as laid back as it gets. This is what Napa used to be like years and years ago, before all of the big, splashy and showy wineries opened

I honestly can't say enough about how amazing this place is. Just 10 minutes from downtown napa. The 43 acre vineyard is charming inside and out from the moment you pull up. Jason our sommelier was wonderful by being knowledgeable funny and interesting while walking us through all the wines. Sitting outside in the comfy chairs sipping delicious wine looking out over the vines is the perfect way to spend the day. Book way in advance cause this place fills up fast.

We were here in February and had a great experience. There is no shortage of great wine in Napa so experience is the next measure to determine where you want to become a member. We visited over 12 wineries during February and O'Brien was our pick for membership. Unfortunately that changed this morning.

We flew in from Seattle for a wedding and did not think we would have time for a visit. But we made some time and dropped by with out an appointment. Ok. That was our error. But my complaint is more about how we were spoken to - member or not. The same person that sold us the wine
