The Kenwood
At The Kenwood, you don't have to choose between stimulating urban living or the harmony of a close-knit community. Along with our panoramic view of the downtown Minneapolis skyline, The Kenwood offers the best of both worlds. Assisted Living is for seniors whose needs have changed. Residents enjoy living in a safe and secure community with supportive care specifically designed to meet their personal needs.

A Short Term Stay or Respite is a great way to sample life at the Kenwood. Stay in a fully furnished apartment and enjoy retirement living anywhere from a weekend to a month, or longer. Since 1987, The Kenwood Retirement Community has offered independent, assisted living and short-term senior rentals in Minneapolis' historic Lowry Hill neighborhood and the peaceful Kenwood Isles area, just minutes from downtown and the heart of the Twin Cities.
Services
The Kenwood is a senior independent living and assisted living rental retirement community that's full of life, service and spirit. The Kenwood combines independent and assisted living apartments with high-quality services, amenities, activities and personal care. Our experienced, professional staff - including homecare nurses and social workers - are licensed and certified in their fields.
The Kenwood's history begins in the early 1980s with a business partnership to create "active retirement living." That vision served as the foundation to develop The Kenwood, a new high-rise luxury senior community in an ideal urban setting. After many months of planning and construction, The Kenwood opened in 1986 as the premier retirement community in the area.
What does it mean to live "The Kenwood Life?" Whether you're looking for active living or a relaxing place to call home, The Kenwood offers enough variety to please just about everyone. The Kenwood books more activities, events and social programs than any other retirement community in the Twin Cities.
My daughter took me to visit senior communities eight years ago and when I walked into The Kenwood, I knew that I had found my home. My apartment overlooks the entire downtown skyline. We have lived at The Kenwood for five years and the quality, responsiveness and friendliness of the staff can't be beat.
Our residents say our Lowry Hill Room is one of the best reasons to live at The Kenwood. This full-service dining room offers table service and an exceptional restaurant-style menu with a wide variety of entre options at both lunch and dinner. Continental breakfast buffet is included in the rent and served daily.

I moved my mother to The Kenwood three to four months ago and we both could not be happier. Previously she had been in a "good" facility in another state. Her experience at The Kenwood has been far superior to anything we ever dreamed of. It is worth noting that my mother uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with transfers. The staff at The Kenwood quickly learned what works best with my mother on those transfers. Equally, or maybe even more importantly, they provide this assistance with dignity and courtesy. So not only is my mother getting the assistance that she needs, nobody is treating

The Kenwood is a wonderful place. Everyone is so friendly, both the staff and the residents. You couldn't ask for nicer people. Mom's seventh-floor apartment has lots of windows and light, and room for everything she wanted to bring with her when she moved in two years ago, including her piano. It's an easy walk to the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden and an even easier walk to a beautiful neighborhood park a block away. They have a very nice dining room in the building that serves good food, where I occasionally joined Mom for meals pre-Covid. During the last year and a half, the staff at the

My parents left their home of 62 years and crossed state lines—during Covid, post Floyd uprising—to live at The Kenwood. Though nothing about the timing of their arrival was ideal, they have settled in beautifully. The friendly and helpful Kenwood staff have made them feel welcome and invigorated, and they are getting to know others as social activities spring back to life. My folks are joiners; they sit in the front row during yoga and movies and are first in line to hear concerts at Lake Harriet. They like the independence of their own kitchen—and making me run around town for groceries

My mother lives here and you couldn't ask for a better senior community. The staff is wonderful. The protections they put in place and enforced during Covid resulted in zero (0) residents contracting the virus. Zero. They are constantly evaluating and looking for better processes and outcomes for the residents. A gem of a place.

The Kenwood has been providing a warm and supportive community for my brother. He has felt comfortable, safe and well-cared for through the pandemic and local unrest. He has made good friends and has especially enjoyed the activities within the building. The nursing care has been kind and thoughtful and communicated well with his family.

If you are looking for an assisted living facility for yourself or loved one you have found it. The Kenwood is really an amazing place. Staff are absolutely fabulous, all of them! The building is very nice, interesting activities and the most impressive thing is that everyone I’ve talked to that lives at The Kenwood loves it, I mean they really love it. You can feel the upbeat positive vibe throughout the facility. The Kenwood should be a blueprint on how to do Assisted Living right. Kudos to everyone there for having such a great place! So thankful!

My grandfather lives at The Kenwood. Recently he has needed more services and it was seamless to add additional nursing care. Moreover, the people who have helped and responded to my grandfather have been stellar. Before he needed extra help, Rosa-in housekeeping-was always so kind and attentive to him without ever needing to ask- she went beyond her job to genuinely care for him. Thank you!!!

I moved my parents here a year and a half ago. It is like sending your big kids to camp. It has been a very positive experience. There are lots of activities for them to do, the people are interesting and have a wealth of backgrounds. They have outings to Baseball games, the Orchestra, Museums, movies and anything else you can come up with. The staff has bent over backwards to be kind and helpful. I can't say enough about how patient everyone has been.
The facilities themselves may need an update, but giving up the cosmetics for the rest is a no-brainer. My parents really are enjoying themselves

We're delighted with our decision 14 years ago to move to The Kenwood. We love being in the city — being near major streets when we chose to use our car, and having options for public bus routes or the Kenwood van. Lively conversation and interesting people are readily at hand. This is the right place for us.

The Kenwood is a very good community for people in need of assistance. My mother has been well served by the Kenwwod staff for 5+ years. Is it perfect? No. I believe most assisted living facilities suffer from the same problems. The best things about the Kenwood are the location and the people who live there and the activities programming and the van. My mother has made lots of new and supportive friends there.
