Second Presbyterian Child Development Center has been serving children in the heart of Downtown Richmond for over 40 years. We are a diverse center that welcomes children from all around the Richmond area. Summer Camp including math, reading, and language enrichment available for children up to age 8.
Services
In 1971 Second Presbyterian Church appointed a task force to explore the possibility of developing a child care center in downtown Richmond. The task force said, Children need a place where they will be safe, secure and happy; they need opportunities to learn to relate to other children and to adults.
Exposing a child to a foreign language at an early age (as early as 3 years old) will result in much easier and better fluency than if they learn later in life. Ever heard of children referred to as "sponges"? That statement couldn't be more accurate when it comes to a child learning a foreign language.

A great place to send your children. The people truly care about each child. This organization also does a great job at bringing outside activities to the school for the kids to enjoy like music activities, dance classes, and stretch and grow, which is included in tuition and not extra add-ons. They encourage my daughters independence and embrace the different personalities. Best of all I never have to fight with my child about going to school each morning because she enjoys being there.

DO NOT send your children here. A close friend (who now works at a very highly regarded pre-school) worked here for a few months. Classrooms are often left understaffed, and some of the staff at the time were very inappropriate in how they treated the children. Knowing what I do, I am highly suspect of some of the reviews here.

My child has gone there for close to three years and we've loved it. his teachers have been great. he is in a kindergarten readiness class now and is reading, loves math, has learned a lot in Spanish, and loves the little field trips and activities. the 4's teacher has been there for several decades and her love of the children and for her work shows (Ms. Annie). I am happy to recommend 2PCCC to others.

We have watched our two sons blossom while enrolled at 2PCCC. Our 3 year old has turned into a precocious, curious, an indepent little creature since starting here. The people that work at 2PCCC feel more like family than employees; Eboni, the Director, is responsive and nurturing, innovative and progressive. Every single person there seems to love their job - genuinely, and love the children too. It shows in the way the kids gush about their teachers and classes while at home. Not only is the facility clean, organized, bright, and comfortable, it also fosters a great amount of imagination and

Second Presbyterian Church Child Care Center is the BEST! Our children have been loved from the first moment they walked in the door. The teachers are professional and so caring of each individual child. The Director, Eboni Brickhouse is wonderful. The playground is newly renovated and fabulous. Theytake children from 3 months through preschool. It is located downtown so you can work downtown and be close to your babies. You and your children will LOVE it!

We are extremely happy with 2PCCC. Our two children have been enrolled for 1 ½ yrs now and they absolutely love it. They adore their friends and genuinely look forward to going every day. The teachers are caring, loving and enthusiastic. They also share our same philosophies on structure and expectations. The cost is very reasonable and the location couldn’t be more convenient. I am so happy we found 2PCCC where we are very confident that our children are in a safe, loving, learning and fun environment.

My daughter spent her Pre-K year here and simply loved it! Class sizes were small and I enjoyed the weekly updates received. When I would join my daughter's class for lunch I was always welcomed with open arms. I love the time taken out and dedicated to physical activity, and I love the fact that when I had a question I could direct it to Eboni and receive an immediate response.
I also love the fact that my daughter is known by her first name at the local library!
This was well worth the investment!!!

I have been associated with this center for close to four years and have had an EXCEPTIONAL experience with both of my children. Both kids love the teachers and the environment and most importantly, my son just completed kindergarten where we were repeatedly told that he was incredibly well-prepared for elemenatry school. What both of my kids have learned include valuable life lessons that aren't taught in the AVERAGE SCHOOL BOOK and I have this center to thank for that. Kudos to them for a job well-done!!

I would not recommend this place to anyone who likes organization and their child being taught round the clock. For the price you pay you still have to provide lunch and the teachers don't teach them much.
My bad experience was when I would come to pick up my child and there was no interactions with the children. Everyone was either sitting down or walking around.
I still have not received my receipts from when I first started my child there.
Also as a single mother who just started a new job, I never got notifications of when they where going to be close and how long. So I get an email back

I looked into several centers before enrolling my son and was particularly interested in him finding a multicultural experience where diversity is valued. I think 2PCCC does a nice job of helping children from different backgrounds connect with one another. This is exemplified in the 'friend' language that they use. My son has only been attending a few months after being watched by his grandmother and has excelled. His vocabulary and interaction has improved so much and he exceeds what other children his age are doing. If you want a small, home-like, friendly atmosphere this is a good place to
