Kriy (in Sanskrit "Action, Deed, Effort") is a true discipline that I have adopted into my yoga practice to help motivate and keep me focused. The idea of Kriy helps me meet any pose on my mat at the place where I can find it and feel connected. Kriy has allowed me to stay true to my intentions and honor my personal self.
I have been practicing yoga for nearly twenty years and teaching for fifteen. From my first experience I truly felt an immediate connection. It was that simple discovery of how powerful our breath is that led me to further study, explore, and deepen my own practice and to share my love of yoga with others.
I am thrilled to be teaching at the Yoga Effect! I began practicing yoga 8 years ago when my late husband began his journey and found the benefits to be extremely powerful in his life. Although I was very active and fit (running was my exercise of choice), I was missing a way to calm my mind, slow myself down, engage my spirit and enjoy the present moment.
Stacy began practicing yoga in 2008 to help decompress from the stresses of everyday life. While she found it hard at first to quiet the mind, with weekly practice she came to treasure the stillness that yoga brought to her life and soon began to feel the positive effects in her daily life. Over the years, being on the mat brought back the familiarity of the mind body connection Stacy was familiar with as a dancer.

Since the advent of Covid, the studio has been offering "virtual" classes via Zoom. I can't say enough how much of a lifesaver these classes have been! They have enabled me to keep up my practice and keep in touch with people from in-person classes. The owner is very responsive to any queries or issues that you may have.

Don't be intimidated by taking a class online instead of in studio - they definitely have advantages! I've taken a variety of classes including chair yoga and restorative as well as others and they don't disappoint. I hope that the online classes

I had a great experience at The Yoga Effect. I took a basic class with Shayla and she communicated extremely well. Her class was nicely paced for beginners but challenging enough to be fun. I also took a gentle class with Maribel and it was very pleasant. The facilities are beautiful and all props are provided. The rates are reasonable also!

I'm new to Yoga so I was unsure how my experience would be. I Loved it! I took a Reiki Restorative class for beginners and felt relaxed and calm by the time the class ended. It was a perfect way to end a stressful day. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to de-stress and recharge.

Similar to another review I was burned by the class pack offering. I had a difficult pregnancy, followed by a csection, and was unable to use 16 classes. When I was cleared by my doctor, she would not honor the remaining classes - since I was a year past the purchase date. This was not stated anywhere, and the law is pretty clear.... it should be honored for 5 years. Prior to my last pregnancy I was an avid fan and attended weekly classes. As a result of the lack of compassion (which you would expect from a yoga studio) and questionable practice, I have not, and will not go back.

Wonderful one-on-one class with S. Wheeler at candlelight restorative yoga last night. The class was what my body needed before a 6am flight to LA the next morning!

I am so happy that I found The Yoga Effect. Everything about it is wonderful! There are a variety of classes and there is something for everyone. When I first started I went to just the basic classes but then started going to the level 1 and 2 classes. With encouragement and support from a few instructors, I built up the courage to try Hot Yoga which is now my favorite class. They have great workshops which I often attend but it is truly the instructors that make this studio stand out. I've had most of them and they have all been helpful, supportive, encouraging, inspiring, caring and knowledgeable

No a huge fan!!

They have no system or process to help you learn more or move up in your yoga. It's more so at your pace. After 8 lessons I felt comfortable for level 1 from basic.

Instructor wasn't OK with my pace and said, don't do this class I can't slow down for you.

I express it's 1 class I can practice and get better she wanted me to do more lessons for l
Basic and not bug here...yeah no thanks.

Hot yoga! Hot yoga! Hot yoga!

Ok, I did feel like I was cheating on my "home" studio but one of my fav yogis was subbing for a hot yoga class when I needed to sweat out some bad joojoo so sometimes you need to go where the universe is inviting you.

There are two welcoming studios with clean floors and all the props you need. The vibe? Calm, peaceful, and beautiful for yogis who know what they want.

I ended up buying a 10-class pass sonI can go back to get my hot yoga fix on. I can't wait!

Oh, and Cortni Wells is awesome.

I came the The Yoga Effect weekly back in 2012-2014 and I really loved the community. Each class I took was challenging and all of the teachers were wonderful.

I bought a class pack of 20 classes in 2013/14 and used eight of them when my schedule changed and I wasn't able to use the remaining 12 (worth $120). I had a baby and continued my practice at home due to an inflexible schedule.

I was finally able to carve some time out of my schedule to go back to yoga. And I still have the 12 class passes to use! I went this past Thursday excited to be back and finally use these passes. I was

Wonderful studio. Very good teachers, kind, knowledgable, encouraging. There are two studios now so the classes are not too packed. Every class I go to here is great. And I love being able to sign in and pay using mind, body, connect. With a busy lifestyle it just makes it that much easier.

Good studio, lots of different types of classes depending on what kind of yoga you want. As with all studios, 90% of the experience depends on the instructor, and they have several so you can find the style which fits you best. Check the website for classes and types, and it does get changed up so check often. I like warm and gentle class.

I love this studio. Convenient location in the center of downtown Grayslake makes it easily accessible, but every once in a while you might have trouble finding a parking space.

The reception area is quite small, and people are often squished together in there waiting for class to start, which creates a bit of a log jam after class ends and folks are filing in/filing out.

The actual room where practice takes place is clean and promotes a calming energy, with wooden floors and curtained windows. As far as size goes, I wish it was a little bigger; the more popular classes can sometimes find people
