Taking the first step to talk to a therapist may feel intimidating or overwhelming. Often, we need to find courage to reach out. With over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, I have seen how a commitment and willingness to show up and talk can truly improve your life. I am currently practicing virtually for New York and New Jersey residents, with in-person appointments available in Montclair, NJ.
While you may feel some apprehension to divulge the intimate details of your life to a stranger, this anonymity provides the foundation of a successful patient-therapist relationship. Participating in an interpersonal process group is probably unlike anything you have ever done before. While joining a group may be anxiety provoking to consider, it is precisely for this reason that participation in a process group is so powerful and effective.

Services
My style is warm, interactive, and analytical. I focus on helping you to find compassion for yourself as you create changes in your life. Your talking helps me to understand you better so that you can understand and know yourself more deeply. This approach is at the heart of psychoanalysis and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
While you may feel some apprehension to divulge the intimate details of your life to a stranger, this anonymity provides the foundation of a successful patient-therapist relationship. You may find it liberating to speak with someone who doesn't know you or your family and friends, and who won't judge you or your actions.
To schedule an initial consultation appointment, please email me or call my confidential phone number: (917) 456-9129. If I do not answer, I will get back to you within 24-hours. My email address is: dr.jenjoseph@gmail.com. Generally, I am able to schedule a face to face consultation appointment within the first week or two of initial contact.
Most likely, if we work together, there will be a moment when I will invite you to join one of my therapy groups. I will listen very closely to your reaction. This is because my invitation is not only an invitation to actually join, but also an invitation to deepen. Many people are surprised to learn that dads and male partners can suffer from postpartum depression, too.

Dr. Joseph is caring, compassionate and intelligent. We are colleagues and often collaborate together - she is my go to when I have a referral. I know she is dedicated to her client's growth and works hard to share the appropriate feedback. In addition to being a skilled individual therapist, she provides group services and is a well-trained and excellent group leader! I highly recommend Jennifer Joseph.
