Services
Deeply rooted in the communities we serve, Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory believes each life deserves a celebration that shines a bright light on your loved one's life, telling their unique story, and helping place family and friends on a path toward peace and healing. Since the late 19th century, five generations of the Mattingly/Kalas family have served their communities with dignity and compassion.
When you lose someone you cherish, your heart is breaking, and you may feel lost. A way to begin healing is to celebrate your loved one, by sharing how much they mean to you, family and friends. When you gather, tell stories, share memories, say their name, and feel the love, it encourages a focus on the positive, more uplifting aspects of life.
Most people shy away from talking about death. It's unsettling to think about our mortality and the fact that we will not always be here. Yet death is inevitable for us all, and planning your funeral celebration is really no different than planning for retirement. It requires an honest conversation, and most people feel relieved once they've shared their wishes.
Grief is a journey that doesn't come with GPS to let you know where you and and where you should be heading. As for grief, we find it comes in waves. The waves never stop coming, and somehow we don't really want them to, but we learn we will survive them, and restored is the hope for peace and healing.

My wife was told on the phone that she had to get a certificate signed and had to be notarized and overnight to the funeral home before her mom could be cremated. The guy on the phone then blurts out that "there is a $78.00 charge for everyday we keep your mom in the Refrigerator" Really , no compassion at all to my wife who just lost her mom. Terrible to treat someone like that.

My family and I couldn't have asked for a better experience considering the circumstances. Lori guided us through the process and was very kind and professional.

Attended a viewing & funeral here. Building is nicely decorated, employees were friendly and courteous. Really great at making sure amenities were available and filled. Parking lots can be quickly filled and location can be difficult to get into based on traffic.
Also the room where the funeral was was too small to hold the crowd. They really need to make some kind of video system available so those not in the room can still watch.
