We teach dance classes to children and teens and offer a variety of dance and fitness classes for adults. We also rent studio space for workshops and special events. I remember when I started to dance. I was probably around 5 or so. My father's friend's daughter Sanae-who would became my teacher for 17 years-was looking for ballet students.
Services
In 2004 DancEsteem started an exchange program with Sanae Hara Dance Academy in Shizuoka Japan. Students from America and Japan perform at each other's annual performance. This year 8 students of the program and their family went to Japan to participate. This program's goal is to provide an opportunity for students to experience other cultures through dance.
DancEsteem dance attire will be available to order from MoBu Dance Studio, levels 4th grade and up. We will take orders before classes begin. Pre-K Students thru 2nd Grade: Simple leotard in any color with pink ballet slippers and tights. No tutu. Dance skirt must attach to the leotard. Pre-k thru 3rd (including 2nd/3rd combo): Pink ballet shoes (also used for the annual performance).
The DancEsteem Spring 2022 Annual Dance Performance dates have been set! This is MoBu Dance Studio DancEsteem Program's 25th Anniversary and the first time in a few years we will be able to have an indoor theater/stage performance at Fort Mason Cowell Theater, It will be over 2 weekends so save the dates!

MoBu is a magic place. Takami is the magician. My daughter loves dance because of her and her studio. If you would like to introduce your child to ballet &/or modern dance, this is a welcoming place to do so. I wish Yelp allowed 6 stars for special circumstances because it is warranted. Driving around SF has become a nightmare, and yet I look forward to going across town to Noe Valley on Saturday mornings.

I've been taking zumba classes here with my friend on sunday for awhile now! It's always a great workout and lots of fun. The Zumba classes are usually pretty packed so it's hard to find enough space to do all the move. I just bought another 10 class pass so will be back for more zumba on the weekends :)

Takami Craddock is an amazing dance instructor. She is very dedicated to her students, serious about her work, but at the same time very positive with the kids. As other reviewers mentioned, she really cares about each of them. My daughter has been taking the teen dance class on Thursdays for two years now and she loves the class. The world needs more positive role models like Takami! Her classes are reasonably priced and the studio is in an excellent location.

I actually have an aversion (well...deep down it's a strong affinity) to mirrors.
Seriously.
Since I was a kid I've been making an uber bizarre mirror face- whenever my reflection is presented before me. It's a weird mix of Blue Steel meets Top Model. I can't help but give face to any and every mirror that I come in contact with.
It got so bad during middle school and high school that I never got any work done when I was in my room. I would sit vainly in front of my bedroom mirror and just stare at myself. Stare at myself doing work. Stare at myself no longer doing work.

My first Zumba class was here - I saw the infomercial and was interested. I took the Sunday morning at 9am class and it was really awesome. I was sweating within the first 10 minutes and by the end of the class, my muscles were worked from head to toe. It was super fun, the music kept us going, and the instructors were energetic and really sweet. The space is great (well ventilated, nice hardwood floor, and floor-to-ceiling mirror). Suzi the instructor was fantastic! I will definitely be back!!!

This review is mainly for the facilities manager / studio owner: There seems to be a serious shortage of paper in the restroom or in the facility for any needs that may arise (such as water on the floor, drying hands, using the restroom, etc.).
When people who attend dance classes here start offering to help the dance intructors in buying products for the facility restroom out of their own pocket on their next visit to Costco, something is being overlooked by the owner / manager.

The sweetest dance studio ever.
My daughters just started there and there are many great things about this place.
1) The children's dance classes are by age, not by skill level, so things are developmentally appropriate. It is about dance, not being better than your friend so you can get a different colored leotard.
2) One of my kids is in the prek and the other in the 1st grade dance classes and they both have a ton of fun activities as well as specific dance instruction built in so they are having fun and working hard.
3) Takami really cares about these kids and the kids care

I'be geen going to Virginia O'Malley's Afro-Caribbean Dance Class for Older Dancers for almost 3 years now - it's terrific! Virginia is a great teacher, always keeping us moving and keeping things fresh. She doesn't just each us how to do the dances, she shares the cultural context and history. The music is fabulous!

The Afro-Caribbean Dance classes held here every Tuesday and Friday at 9:30 are so much fun. I hate exercise, but after I retired, I forced myself to go to the gym three days a week; I dreaded it every time. Then I discovered this dance class, and I wake up on Tuesdays and think, "Yeah, I have dance class!" The music is great, and it's an hour of moving that really makes me feel terrific. There is also a wonderful group of participants which creates a friendly and fun environment. Come join us!

Afro Caribbean Dance is a fabulous way to start your day. Virginia O'Hanlon offers an authentic experience with Caribbean and Latin American dances. Her knowledge of the rhythms and dance styles is extensive. If you are looking for a chance to move and experiment with the latin beat, this is your class. The atmosphere is supportive with a friendly core group that shows up every Tuesday and Friday morning at 9:30. Bring a friend and join us. Mobu is a neighborhood studio with a nice vibe and a variety of classes.

Takami Craddock is a fantastic dance instructor (as well as a fantastic dancer herself.) She is an inspiration to young dancers of all ages and a wonderful introduction to all forms of dance. My daughter is starting her 8th year with Takami (having started when she was just 3) and plans to continue dancing with her as long as she can. Highly recommended!

I recently went to the Sunday yoga class and I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable studio space and the high quality of instruction. The class made me feel awesome. The teacher seemed experienced and gave a lot of variations and adjustments. Despite the humble store front, there is actually a changing area, lounge, and garden area in back. The atmosphere was casual ( perfect for a Sunday morning!) . I would recommend the yoga class to anyone. Plus, there are lots of great places to get brunch afterwards!

Such a great neighborhood studio. I have dance rehearsals here. They offer many different body movement classes.
The set-up is warm, welcoming and a bit confusing at first. You enter through a door to the left of the studio which leads to a quaint backyard then up a flight of stairs. The foyer is complete with two dressing rooms and cubbys. There's also a comfortable separate room where kiddies or people waiting can hang. There's bottled water and green tea for sale by honor system too.

I am Curious (Dance)...
A new facility for MobuDance studio.
http://www.mobudancestudio.com/dancesteem/about.htm
It's a good size space with hard wood floors and completely empty inside. It looks like classes start in Fall 2008.
The window decals advertise, "Events-Excersize (their spelling, not mine!)-Yoga-Pilates"
Per the calendar posted in front they have dance classes for kids, adults, and seniors. Ballet, Caribbean Dance, Afro-Cuban, and Hip-Hop - looks like classes start soon (Sept 2008)
I'm a fighter, not a dancer, but I'm intrigued.
Plus I'm greedy
