I chose Silver Hill at Great Neck in Virginia Beach for its location. At 55, I had suddenly lost my ability to drive and teach school due to progressive health conditions. My move to Silver Hill has helped me regain independence. I walk to grocery, pharmacy, post office, UPS, church, bank, restaurants/fast food, the Rec Center and public library. I have established most of my healthcare providers on First Colonial less than two miles from a top rate Sentara hospital. The surrounding residential neighborhoods are not only attractive and I have never felt unsafe. Bus 29 HRT city bus takes me

I'm so pleased that I found Silver Hill at Great Neck after arriving in Virginia Beach a couple of years ago. It's just perfect for an active retiree like myself — great location, reasonable rent, very well-maintained property, plus a super friendly and helpful staff. I can't imagine a better place to live!

First, get these 'guides' off here, they are not residents. Here's a new name suggestion: shut up and pay hill. I may be better off homeless. When your mismanaged equipment disturbs my rest, you're breaking your own quiet hours rule. I work, so this compromises my safety. Don't look for any knowledgeable, responsive customer care; there is no super, just a "leasing professional", who sent me the most offensive and condescending letter I could imagine. It's still upsetting having read it just ONCE.

Currently undergoing a paint job, but folks here are happy with the proximity to stores (many are handicapped and closeness is key) and low rent compared to other senior communities. I've been here 9 months and am a regular bingo player, bible study attendee, and do my best to help those that need it - rewarded by smiles and their kitchen donations :)
