When you look at Mt. Hood you'll notice a striking feature, a knife-edge ridge running off the summit to the Northwest. This is Cathedral Ridge. Awe-inspiring in its ruggedness, it is known by the local climbers as some of the most amazing climbing in the Pacific Northwest. Owner and Cellarmaster, Robb Bell, purchased Cathedral Ridge Winery (formerly Flerchinger Vineyards) and thought it was a fitting moniker for his winery.
We never forget that making, selling and enjoying wine requires a team effort. Our most important activity is finding, hiring, training and keeping top-flight employees. We pride ourselves in the versatile family of hard-workers we've grown here. All are passionate about wine, all are foodies, and all bring a diversity of experience to Cathedral Ridge Winery.
Any visitor to our Hood River winery and tasting room will be able to sample our award-winning wines and notice a multitude of local, national, and international awards. To some, these awards are quite impressive. But others have some degree of skepticism. Only about 1/3 of wineries send their wines to the competition.
One of the most beautiful and historic geographic regions in the United States is the Columbia River Gorge. The stunning scenery features a dramatic climate shift from the temperate rainforest of Cascade Locks to the high desert at The Dalles, all occurring in about 50 miles. Fir and spruce give way to pines and scrub oak, and eventually to nothing but tall grass as one continues to move eastward.
If you happen to find yourself in the Willamette Valley with a thirst for our award-winning big, bold reds, signature blends and delicious white wines, our newly remodeled Dundee location can accommodate you with all the care and skill of our Columbia Gorge location. Located off Hwy 99, the Dundee tasting room is easy to locate and the friendly staff will make you feel right at home.

A friend and I were visiting the area and saw great reviews for Cathedral Ridge! We made a reservation for a tasting to make sure we would get a spot, but luckily, going in the middle of the week in the morning meant we had the entire winery to ourselves The lovely woman who took care of us let us choose anywhere we wanted to sit, so we sat right by the windows looking over the vines towards the river. It was a magical spot because partway through our tasting a rainbow spread across the entire sky and stayed there! It was breathtaking!
The wines themselves were very tasty. I'm a white wine

We visited in September. They say they are dog friendly and when I made reservations I said we have a small dog. They called me right before our tasting and said we couldn't come to the main area with her but could leave her in the pen out front or sit in the pen. Sorry but she would have been stolen from the pen by the road. We chose to sit out away from the patio with her but then had to go to the patio for our tastings since they couldn't serve us there. Overpriced. Wine wasn't great and even though we bought we still had to pay a tasting fee. If you aren't dog friendly

We had the best time drinking wine at cathedral ridge! We walked in without a reservation (2 of us) and were seated in the lovely tasting area w good music and incredible wine. What made the experience 5+++ stars was Karey! She was incredible, walked us through each wine and explained what we should be looking for as we indulged in some of the best wine we have tasted. I personally loved the reserve Syrah and my wife loved the reserve Barbera but in our opinion, you can't go wrong here! 10 of 10 would visit again

We always stop in to taste at this winery when in the vicinity. We were there last Friday and it was a completely new experience. Their facility has changed, they have enlarged and now offer indoor and out door tastings. The thing that got our attention was the pricing of the tastings. $20 a person. We continually travel to Santa Rosa, Cal and the wineries there haven't charged us that much. Even if there's a charge it's usually refunded when you buy wine. We bought 2 bottles of reserve wine so my tasting fee dropped to $10.00 and my husband's fee remained at the $20 level.

Our visit to Cathedral Ridge Winery was a pleasant surprise. Booking for a tasting was super easy. When I changed the date of our appointment, I was helped and the booking changed in no time.
We arrived at the winery a little early, but was welcomed like old friends (there is a difference in hospitality when you're a paying guest or a friend!).
We were served by Joelle, who was friendly and knowledgable about the wine. No request was too difficult.
The wines are ... well, book a tasting a go experience award-winning wines!

We had a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed all the wine we tasted. It’s especially nice they allow you to choose which wines you would like to taste as all of us have different preferences. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff made us feel right at home. After, we enjoyed a glass and the house charcuterie board while soaking up the sun and views! Only an hour out of Portland, we will be back. :)

Lively place. Lots of visitors this Labor Day weekend. The sommelier gals managing tastings very well as a team and all the wine we selected tasted great. Our very favorite was their Barbara reserve and our very least favorite (not because it was bad just bland) was the Bordeaux. They have many beautiful areas outside where you can picnic if you like. Clean restrooms, some oyster crackers and water to replenish your palate and decent prices. Be sure to stop in if you are in the area.

A huge selection of good wine to choose from. It's hard just to have one round of tastings here with the selection. Some unique wines like the Halbtrocken blush are perfect, refreshing summer wines, in addition to a wide variety of classic styles. Extremely knowledgeable staff and good service. Well worth a stop.

A nice little side trip on our day in Hood River. It was towards closing time the day we were there so it was a little on the quiet side which was great.
Gravitating towards reds like do this was a good place to come. $15 for the standard tasting of six wines and we weren't disappointed in anything that we had. Big fan of the Cabernet Sauvignon. I like bold in your face reds.
We were here during the summer and the person giving the tasting was a college kid (she had never heard of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc). She was quite nice though. Beautiful grounds with fantastic views.

Nice location, and they do have nice wine. I will absolutely drink there wine in the future, however this review is focused on the tasting room experience
I'm giving 2 stars because the staff were not exactly welcoming to all the people who came in. I love wine tasting, and I love going to wineries, however I have little patients for when the employees overtly treat people differently...
They were not that busy, so the staff did not have a reason to be rude or curt, but sadly that was the case for the people who were next to us and obviously not wine drinkers. They were essentially asking

We come to Hood River at least once a year, for the sun and for the wine. Cathedral Ridge has been one of our two main favorites for the years (10+) that we've been coming here.
Nicely made reds (we don't drink whites or roses). There is a large tasting list and you are not limited only to what is open that particular day. The staff pouring the tastings are friendly and fairly knowledgeable. They are pretty low key, as is the winery which is interesting to me as the wines are more sophisticated.
Wineries these days are becoming "destinations". Do you get the wine or the

One of my favorite wineries in Hood. The grounds are exceptionally beautiful and the staff are extremely knowledgeable about the grapes as well as the wines Tell them what you like and they can pair you up with wines that match you. They also suggested some reds for me (i usually only drink Rieslings)that they believed I'd enjoy based on my likes. At $15 for 6 samples, I thought it was decent to try wines outside my comfort and explore new territory. If you buy a bottle, they only charge $10 for the tastings.

Didn't really care for the wines. Tasting was expensive; 6 tastes for $15, and they waive only $5 if you buy 2 bottles. Price point was $26-$58, which I thought was high for the quality of the wines. They had lots of outdoor seating, but were not dog friendly. Found other wineries in the area with lower tasting fees, waived with a one bottle purchase, and nice quality wines with dog-friendly patios.
