Native to Oregon vineyards and farmland, owners Cody and Marque Wright are most intrigued by wines that reveal the history of their native landscape. Cody, our winemaker, has been in the cellar his whole life, with stints at home and abroad-following in his family's footsteps. Growing up with some of Oregon's finest winemaking and grape-growing mentors gave Cody a passion for quality and a deep understanding of the work it takes to strive for excellence.
The name Purple Hands is meant to depict this work: the work of harvest when your hands are purple and black and rugged from long days and nights of pushing yourself to create and sustain quality; the work that comes from the heart; the work fundamentals that Cody and Marque's families demonstrate and that they hope their children will embrace.

We work diligently every year to ensure that our wines convey millions of years of geographical history to those who drink them. From Jory (Volcanic) to Marine Sedimentary, soil type affects the fruit characteristics of the wine (red, blue, or black) as well as its spice, earth, and sweet or savory attributes.
Located 28 miles southwest of Portland, the Dundee Hills AVA encompasses 6,490 acres with geology dating back 15 million years when lava flowed from northeast Oregon and pushed into the Willamette Valley, covering all but the highest hills with up to 1,000 feet of basalt.
The catastrophic Missoula floods 10-15,000 years ago deposited a blanket of sediment on land below the 200 ft elevation, sparing the original red volcanic hills above the small town of Dundee.Today, the 200 ft contour line defines the Dundee Hills AVA. North of McMinnville, Oregon, in the Northern Willamette Valley, the land slowly rises to the hamlets of Carlton and Yamhill.

Whoa, this place is a gem! We really appreciate Purple Hands Winery and Urban Tasting Room. In addition to their lovely wine tasting room, their wines are delicious and something I'm not afraid to give to my friends who appreciate great wines. I would highly recommend Purple Hands Winery to my friends and family.

What can I say other than great wine consistently every year. Cody and his wife / team do a fantastic job making us welcome. Jordan is always great to spend time with and is very knowledgeable of all the wines. Lynne and I have been members for a little over a year now and just attended our first members only event at the winery. Red Hills Market supplied the food, and there was plenty of room for everyone. I highly recommend Purple Hands!!

My friend and I just chanced upon this place after a tasty lunch at Babica Hen Cafe, and we were really happy with our tasting flight experience. The wines were all smooth and fruity, but with noticeable complexity and individuality. We were guided by a very friendly and knowledgeable woman behind the counter, and she explained the geography of the vineyards each wine came from. Inside it is cozy but the high ceilings make it not feel crowded. Thanks!

Came here over Memorial Day weekend 2018. Was curious to try it after one of their wines was listed in the Wine Spectator Top 100 list for 2017. There's not many OR pinots listed for the year, so it certainly seems like a distinctive honor. That particular wine is, of course, sold out. Tasting was $20 for a flight of mediocre wines. The tasting room is conveniently located off 99, but it doesn't make for the most appealing tasting room. Not worth stopping by.

This review is largely based on our service. We walked in on a Tuesday, right at opening so we were the only people in the place. We shared a flight, and while the wines themselves seemed to be of a great quality, our service didn't match the quality. We were given no information about the wines we were tasting, no background information about the winery which we were accustomed to at all of the other wineries we visited. It felt a bit awkward to just sit in silence to be honest.

During a day of wine tasting, this tasting room stood out as one of the best and most conveniently located to our hotel. The wine was delicious, but what really made it was the staff. The staff had us laughing the whole time, friendly, and knowledgeable. The wine dog was friendly and also kept us entertained. The wine was so good, I had to join the club!

We were the first tasters in on a Sunday morning, and Jordan was very friendly and helpful. He was knowledgeable about wine and provided recommendations to a few other delicious and scenic wineries as well. We really enjoyed the wine that we sampled at Purple Hands, and if we lived in the area, we'd definitely be regulars.

One of my favorite wines! Came here for the first time with my family and had an incredible experience. We arrived around 11:15am and had the while tasting room to ourselves. Jordan was an excellent host and provided an in-depth tasting experience for us all. Their wines were unique and full of flavor...plus they were all very nicely priced! Needless to say we left as club members and consider this winery to be among our favorites in the valley!

After visiting Stoller vineyards we were told by the lady who helped us there Adele, to go to this location. We had already planned on going to Evening Land Vineyard, don't waste your time rude, and are so happy we made our final stop here. The young lady who assisted us was so knowlegeable and we felt very welcomed. I can't say enough about this location and highly recommend it.

This is a mitzvah, we heard about this up and coming vineyard on our way to pick up our member shipment nearby.
The tasting room is cozy but spartan nevertheless the gal behind the counter Mary made everyone feel beyond welcomed. I admired how she catered to the nonstop flow of visitors from fielding questions to keeping the tasting rotation and ringing up sales. The tasting experience is always accented by the hospitality of the pourer. Thank you Mary we shall return.

Very friendly people at this winery. Came here on the weekend to try some wines and had a small picnic. The tasting room is very cute. Enjoyed all their wines. We did the tasting and then bought a bottle to drink outside with our lunch. There is a cute picnic area just outside the tasting room. Will definitely be back. Only thing that was weird were the prices of the wine were more than listed on the website. Not sure why. Still really enjoyed our time here. Also bought a bottle to take home.

A lovely experience. The tasting room is a little off the beaten path, but the wines are well worth the trip. Mary, the tasting room manager was warm and friendly. Being a bit of a novice in tasting but knowing what I like, I soaked in all the knowledge she willingly shared. My favorite was a 2011 Stoller Vineyard pinot noir. This winery is marked for return.
