I cannot brag enough about this Hair Studio. It’s got a great vibe, filled with professional who are friendly together and with customers, and in particular, my hairstylist is just the best. Shauna worked with me to get a great cut that will last a few months. Details below
1. I called one day, as I am new in the area, and another hair stylist answered the phone. I told her about my hair and what I was looking for (type of cut) and she paired me with Shauna. She had no doubt in her mind.

Monroe Hair Studio has temporarily moved to their sister spa, Olivia Presley, on old Ranch Road 12, while the downtown location on the square gets a facelift. I had an appointment with Brittany and once again, it was five stars worth of great. Everyone who works in these two groups seems to sincerely love what they do, and the energy in the studio is magical. Of course Brittany is a rock star when it comes to hair color and cut, and I felt like a million dollars when I walked out. We moved to San Marcos about six months ago and I needed to find a new place to get my haircut. I've been to Monroe's three times and it's fantastic! Brittany and Julia have both cut my hair and they are wonderful- I'm getting pixie cuts now (of varying lengths) and both stylists are actually better than "safe" bets- I've never had better pixie cuts in my life, way better than the place I used to go to in Houston. Complete nightmare. 1st appointment with Paloma. Showed her inspiration pic as shown below. Left BLONDE with barely any no root showing. Roots were orange and there was a dark brown ring around the bottom of my hair. No blending. Paloma no longer works there.

2nd appointment with Brittany. Super grateful she volunteered to fix me up. Left happy until I got home to find that my right side was so much lighter than left. Texted Brittany photos and told me to come in this week to fix it (again)

Straightened my hair for the first time to find patches that made me look like a cheetah. Called and explained

I've been getting my hair done by Lanna before she opened Monroe - and still continue to do so many years later. I drive there from Austin every quarter and always leave satisfied. She's knows just how I like my hair and I enjoy spending time in her chair.

This salon was referred by a friend.......I went in and met the owner, Lanna, who my appointment was with. I have to say the staff was friendly, professional and busy! I have never had such a great experience at a hair salon. I asked for prices for services and she told me exactly what it would cost, and was very reasonable! I wanted more se than I originally booked and luckily she had time! I had my hair colored to conceal highlights that were growing out, a cut, shampoo and style. The color was perfect!! And it completely conditioned my hair! I was amazed! If you have not tried this salon

Lanna and Bambi are great! We moved here from Dallas to the Hill Country and I must say I was used to superb service in Dallas! They have never to disappoint me and I've been going here for two years!!! Great Gals!!! Color and cuts are superb... they LISTEN to their customers!!!

Julie just gave me the BEST haircut ever! Really--the best ever! She also gave advice on maintaining the style and products to use. I cannot imagine going to anyone else.

I've been coming here for years. Even after I moved from San Marcos is still drive up here just because this place is so awesome. So many talented and friendly stylists with very fair pricing. Abby has done my hair for years and I always leave so happy with the result. I always recommend Monroe to everyone!

I don't understand how no one is criticizing how badly it is to get one's hair washed and rinsed. I am a short woman. However, I have never been to a salon where I had to get into a birthing position; force my body upwards to reach the sink to have my hair washed and rinsed. Note: chair was attached to the sink and did not allow for adjustments.

Dirty brushes are a problem as well.

I went to Texas State for 4 years and for the last 2 of those years, Lindsey cut my hair beautifully. I live in Dallas now, and every time I'm in need of a chop I seriously consider a roadtrip to San Marcos so she can cut my hair again! Really might have to make the trip next time - it would be worth it.

After having my hair screwed up at another salon, I came in desperate for it to be fixed. Jess did an amazing job at fixing my hair!! She listened to what I wanted and took her time trying to save as much length as possible. She checked with me before each cut. This place was awesome and I am so grateful they salvaged my hair!!

I've been going to Julie at Monroe's for 6 years now and she is the absolute best! She always listens to what I want and works to make it happen! Whenever I'm not sure if something would be damaging or practical for my hair she always gives me realistic advice and wants to make sure my hair stays healthy since she knows that's important to me! Also, her and Abby are so fun and keep it entertaining!!

I recently moved back to Texas from Atlanta, Georgia, and finding someone new to do my hair is something I dread and fear. Lanna totally put me at ease, she booked extra time since this was my first visit. From the moment I walked in and until the moment I walked out, I felt comfortable. My color, highlights and cut were spot on, and her prices are very reasonable. I am so relieved to find my new go to place!

If zero stars was an acceptable review that is what I would leave. Not only was my service a ORANGE disaster but the service of the salon is unacceptable as well. I have called 4 times with no answer, once when I left my name and number with no call back, and another when they hung up on me and called back saying they didn't mean to. The first time I went in prior to my appointment Lana was very sweet and got me in with Jessica on short notice. Booking that appointment was a huge mistake. My natural hair color is light brunette but I have always been blonde. I asked for a more natural look

Oh how I love and miss this place. Jessica is my go-to hair girl. I get so many compliments when she does my blonde it's unreal. I moved from San Marcos to Austin, and I still drove the extra miles to come to Jess. Now I live in Houston, and I'm figuring out how I can drive the extra miles to see her for my hair again. She even comes in when she isn't feeling well and that says something about her work ethic. Plus the price can't be beat. My absolute favorite hair salon hands down.

I brought in reference photos, and Jessica cut my hair WAY too short. I wanted stylish and low maintenance- which I've gotten before from other stylists... and now I look like a boy. I can't do anything with it, and she never really asked me if she was going too short or made any kind of conversation. She just said she was "in the zone" or "focusing" but a good stylist should always ask questions, and check in periodically to see if they should stay where they are or cut higher. She did not do this. Not to mention I gave her instructions about my bangs which she flat

I needed a quick fix for my hair and they scheduled me the next day, very convenient. I showed Jessica the photo of what I wanted multiple times before we got started and explained many times that I needed more of a blend of color, so there wouldn't be so much contrast between the top and bottom of the back color.
