In 1981, Doug and Darci Hill settled down on an acre of land at the northern edge of Yountville. Their children, Ryan and Carly, grew up playing in the vineyards, tending chickens, and played baseball and basketball. They also helped their neighbors grow organic fruits and vegetables for the local restaurants including Thomas Keller's world renowned French Laundry restaurant.

Today the Hill Family owns 120 acres of vineyards with a focus on Atlas Peak, Carneros and Oak Knoll.

Hill Family Estate offers two locations for tastings: our tasting room in downtown Yountville, and our estate winery located just south of town in the Yountville appellation. Virtual wine tastings are a great way to connect with family members, friends and colleagues over great conversation and delicious wine, especially if you are not able to visit wine country in the near future. We will help you plan every detail from the wine selections, suggested food pairings, attendee invitations and shipping of the wine packages.
The Hill family began to select and plant their own Napa vineyards in the 1980s, using their intimate knowledge of the multiple Napa Valley microclimates, soil variations and the many subtle growing factors which inuence the characteristics of the grape and the resulting quality of wine. They planted Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Albario, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc in the Carneros appellation.
Hill Family Estate was born out of the desire for the family to work together - sharing the experience of crafting fine wines that showcased the grapes that Doug farmed and then introducing those wines to the consumer at a tasting room in their hometown, and American foodie capital, Yountville, California.
