According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 33.9% of adults are now prediabetic.

With 30.3 million (9.4% of the US population) people already diagnosed with diabetes, this means 115 million Americans now have some stage of the chronic disease. These numbers are increased from 81 million in 2008. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the US. The CDC predicts that if this trend continues, 1 in 3 Americans will have diabetes by the year 2050.

The Heartland Healthcare Coalition (HHC) was officially formed in 1990 by a group of employers from the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area. The initial focus of the group was on controlling rising health care costs in Central Illinois. In our 20 year history membership has grown substantially. More than 365,000 covered lives are now represented by our forty-four (44) employer members.
Our conference theme in 2018 was built around the Making sense out of the seemingly unconnected healthcare model, The moral obligation of leaders, and the using of facts and statistice for a survey of qualtiy outcomes in the Central IL community. Pictures are: (L-R) SPEAKERS: Tom Parry, President IBI; Shane Wolverton, Sr. VP Corporate Development for Quantros;Rod Brace, Chief Learning Officer, Memorial Herman Health System.
The Heartland Healthcare Coalition utilizes the leverage of its large block of lives represented by our members to purchase health care products and services at a very competitive price while insuring a high level of quality and service. CIGNA Dental offers a variety of dental plan options for Employers to choose from, including PPO's and Traditional Indemnity plans.
Through leveraging the thousands of lives that we represent through our membership, HHC is able to provide very competitive rates and discounts for key health care related services. These include pharmacy benefit management (PBM services), vison care services, and dental services. HHC offers two national Rx network options for our members.
One of the benefits of membership in HHC is to be able to network with other members. With our diversity of organizations (manufacturing, service industries, city and county governments, school systems and colleges, health care providers, and pharmaceuticals) we had a wealth of health care benefit expertise within our group.
