I wanted to love this place - but was treated like I was a nuisance it overshadowed the food. I ordered a single dish for lunch- heads up there’s a $20 minimum if paying w/ card- me a first time customer did not know this, maybe if on the phone I was told, I could’ve stopped at an atm- the dish I ordered in detail had curry and was supposed to be spicy, it had neither, on top of the cold service I’m hesitant to give it another try.

This place is bomb! Really excited to have found a good Taiwanese place in New England. I grew up in LA and am Taiwanese, so my standards for Taiwanese food is pretty high. A lot of Chinese food places in New England have been disappointing since I moved here.
Formosa Taipei did not disappoint though! I got the xiao long bao, pan fried pork buns, shumai, fried pork chop over rice, and fried chicken breasts over rice. The XLBs and fried pork buns were on point! Shumai was a little salty but overall flavor still good. The pork chop and chicken cutlets were delicious! Bento size was pretty big too

Not bad for some quick take out.
Crab Rangoon - Tasty and fresh.
Chicken Fingers and Spring Rolls - Tasty too but I wish they were crispier.
Hot and Sour Soup - My first time having it with vegetable stock, as it was a veggie version - pretty good. It's lighter, and obviously doesn't have the meat flavor but still works.
The General Taos Chicken was a disappointment. It was alright at best. Pretty soggy, no crisp. The chicken was a little funky and the sauce was too sugary and not much flavor. I was looking forward to it too.
Also the fried rice was very old, cold and bland. Maybe

I got take out, the flounder with black bean sauce lunch special. For an extra buck and a half I added extra veggies. The food was waiting for me though I was three minutes early for pickup, and after a five minute drive to a park the food was still piping hot. The flavors were outstanding: hot and sour soup; flounder; black bean sauce. I didn't care for the veggie fried rice but it was great when mixed into the sauce. The portion (given the extra veggies?) was more than filling, and I am a known trencherman - look that word up if you need to. I can't compare it to the size without extra

After calling our order in for delivery this past weekend our food arrived 15 minutes early, nice & hot.
All dishes v v tasty. We tried some different items along with some of our favorites. Appetizers--scallion pancakes, a little greasy but you could place in a paper napkin if not to your liking, crystal shrimp YUM! which come with lettuce, wonton soup, hot n sour soup, both soups boiling hot, delicious
Main dishes We tried a shredded pork with Peking sauce. Very nice. It comes with pancakes so you eat it like moo shi, spreading sauce, filling with pork mix & rolling up. We will order

This place has Taiwanese breakfast! TAIWANESE BREAKFAST!! That alone makes it a must-visit in my book.
Fancy Beef Wrap 牛肉卷饼: Delicious! My favorite dish so far. Hot and crispy on the outside, luscious savory beef on the inside, aromatic onions add to the flavor.
Mini Juicy Pork Bun 小笼包: $7 for 8, one of the best deals I've found in Boston! These were good but not the best. They weren't as juicy as the ones from Taipei Gourmet, but they are definitely worth the price. I would definitely still recommend them.
Salt Pepper Chicken 咸酥鸡: We got the bone-in version for

We did takeout from here a couple of days ago and have had the worst case of food poisoning in my life. It was probably a bad day the restaurant was having because I do see some great reviews in here but I would urge the restaurant to look into their food preparation standards to avoid what my family and I had to go through.

Tasty Chinese takeout restaurant that serves both good Chinese-American takeout and spicy Sichuan dishes. I had a random craving for sesame chicken from my old days of eating Panda Express at work, so it was time to find a good Chinese takeout place. It also had been a long time since I had spicy boiled fish, so it excited me that the menu of this restaurant had both.
The sesame chicken was served in bigger, juicier chunks that the orange chicken I ate at the Panda Express I frequented. I added extra vegetables for a small surcharge. When I opened my tray, I did notice that there were more

Small mostly-takeout joint that has three small tables for eating in. That description sounds like the typical crank-it-out Chinese American where you order over a counter, but this place is the complete opposite: roomy despite the lack of tables, and pretty low key. Similarly, dishes arrive in plastic containers with clear lids, but don't let that put you off: the food here is of much higher caliber.
Hot & Spicy Minced Chicken: An extremely generous portion, at first glance almost entirely meat. This looked like a dish for beginners, but there were some interesting additions, like plentiful

A coworker where I was working at temporarily suggested for me to check out this spot. As a yelper I definitely marked it down and made an effort to go there to check it out. When we got there I do have to mention, along with all the other reviews that this place has a very limited amount of seating.
This restaurant is more along the lines of a take out spot. But to me I didn't really mind because what I was there for we're two things: the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and the soup dumplings. Because other than my mother's beef noodle soup (which is pretty much impossible to beat

A little hole-in-the-wall restaurant providing friendly service and mostly delicious food.
I love this place and it's one of my favorite restaurants.
The not-so-great characteristics:
Dishes are served on plastic and styrofoam take out containers even when you dine in.
The ambience is nothing great. It's spartan.
The pad thai was not good.
What I love about this place:
When I've dined there or gotten take out I've usually been served by an exceptionally friendly, pleasant lady. Absolutely adorable.
Most of the dishes we've had have been delicious and prepared well.
All of the beef soups
