Services
Our average program population is around 100 residents. We are licensed by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADAD) of the - State of Hawaii Health Department. Habilitat's proven success rate is among the highest in the world. Habilitat is an alternative to the 12 step programs. We have understood for many years that a long-term drug treatment program alone is not enough to ensure long-term success.
Habilitat Long Term Addiction Treatment Facility is located on a 1.5-acre oceanfront estate at the base of the Ko'olau Mountains, on the island of O'ahu. Our facility sits at the waters edge of Kane'ohe Bay. The tranquil views and cool trade winds from Kane'ohe Bay create an ideal atmosphere for recovery.
An integral component of Habilitat's residential addiction treatment is our diverse vocational training programs. This component of Habilitat's curriculum offers residents the opportunity to cultivate and refine the principles that Habilitat emphasizes: self-respect, accountability, concern for others, constructive criticism, self-discipline, lifelong learning, and a strong work ethic.
Habilitat's Aftercare program helps with the gradual transition from the post re-entry phase through program graduation, along with structured monitoring and follow-up for the first 6 months after program completion. All residents are graduated with a clinical discharge pending a probationary period.

It was very difficult when I was there but if I wasn't so young I should of let my cousin leave and I would of had a good life, My cousin was there first and he convenced me to leave with him and he was there for 2 and a half years, I miss him very much, I always called him uncle Peter because he was 13 years older than me, he got married and still abused his body and basically died at a young age from I believe an overdose of methidone and god only knows what else was in his system, so what I really wanted to say was if I only new that my whole big family was going to die I would of stayed there

Just got a full scholarship here. Flying out in several days to begin the journey. I actually started writing about a long term rehabilitation program that I wanted to create myself after coming to the conclusion that 30, 60, & 90 day programs do not work. I kept experiencing relapses my whole life, even after squeezing out decent periods of stability and sobriety. I wrote a mini thesis/treatise on the 95%+ failure rate of short term treatment. Like a lot of other people my first encounter with Habilitat was the Christmas Tree sales. Decades ago. Then somehow I discovered the Luau and that has been a yearly tradition for my family for a long time. Good food and excellent entertainment. It is such a fun day ! I have a lovely hand painted picture in my living room that I won one year at the Luau auction for a super good price. Then I found their monthly car washes. Best value in town ! I needed a landscaping project done. Mostly clearing, digging and leveling an area for new pavers. I couldn't find anyone to do the job. I saw a recommendation on "Next Door" for Habilitat and called. They gave me an estimate within an hour and had a crew out within several days. Included in the price was stopping to pick up the pavers and another place to pick up sand, and dumping old pavers, dirt and green debris. They completed the job in 4+ hours with a crew of 3. They were polite, industrious and accommodating. I highly recommend Habilitat Construction.

Habilitat does NOT bill people's insurance. The program offers long term treatment with vocational training on a sliding scale payment system. In fact, they claim that they do not turn people away just because they can't pay. They are a behavioral health program which doesn't accept severely mentally ill people. They are actually not licensed for that population. They have a license through the Hawaii State Health Department Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division. I rate Habilitat 5 stars why? Because the place is unique and challenging. It's not like most places that will only place a band aid over the the person's problem or situations, instead Habilitat has a way to draw the phuss out and get to the bottom of the issues that an individual may be having. My networking group utilized Habilitat's catering services for one of our big events. The staff was incredibly friendly and courteous to our guests. They worked within our budget and provided everything at a very modest cost. They brought everything - tables, tablecloths, warmers, serving utensils, plates, eating utensils, condiments for the food, creamer and sugar for the coffee (our venue provided coffee!), and they served the food! They even provided take out containers for leftovers. At no extra charge they included food for an extra 25 people just to ensure that we didn't run out

I could not recommend Habilitat more highly. I do not work there, I am not a resident or past resident and I am not an addict but I have had the opportunity and the privilege of volunteering my time and expertise at the facility. I have been associated with Habilitat for five years now and witness the fantastic work they do and I am a great supporter of the facility and program.

First off, I am not a graduate of Habilitat, nor do I work for the program. I'm not an addict, and have never been an addict.
I'm just a regular Windward resident that has seen too many people's lives thrown into chaos by addiction. Parents, children, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, neighbors-- you name it: I think everyone's life has been touched, in some way, by addiction.

I am not a drug addict, have never been one, and have never been in a Habilitat program. Because of the work I do, I have visited their facilities, been to their annual luau, and run into their catering team at various events. We are always treated with respect and aloha. The residents are some of the most genuine, real people I've ever met. And whether or not they relapse, for whatever time they are sober, they have hope for a better life. To have hope when the alternative was jail or maybe death? That is priceless. I hear about "statistics." Who cares about statistics?

Habilitat is an amazing place that shows people (who have succumb to using mind altering substances to numb themselves from the life that they have created) how to gain confidence, create positive feelings, and be proud of who they are. Anyone would become a better person by investing two and a half years and gaining what is taught.

I can't disagree more with the previous negative post. First, let me say, I am not a graduate of Habilitat. Nor am I friends with Jeff. However, I did go there for a couple months and eventually left. Not because of the program!! It was a well structured and respectable one. But I personally couldn't handle being away from my children for the extended period of time.
When I left I went to another program and graduated it. But I wouldn't have made it the last 8 years had I not applied what I did learn while at Habilitat. My brief time there instilled in me great values, morals, respect

I am a product of habilitats teaching methods and rehabilitation center, I can say that hands down there program was extremely difficult and by far the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Habilitat the "Place of change". Hardest thing I have ever done! BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE! I walked into Habilitat broken, co-dependant and a door mat with no self esteem or pride.
