I'm Richard Jucker - the creator and owner of The Village Bakery. As a native Houstonian, I have spent almost my entire adult life either in the bakery business, or in food services. And although my father was one of the original owners of Three Brothers Bakery, and I had worked there from 1981 to 1999, it wasn't until May of 2013 that I had the opportunity to open my own bakery.

Services
The Village Bakery Houston's breads are handmade according to the time-tested standards that have been used for generations. You will taste the quality and heritage in all our loaves. We prepare whole wheat, sourdoughs, baguettes and other traditional breads daily, as well as a different artisan bread each day of the week.
Each of the treats prepared by our staff starts with the freshest infredients and the highest quality flours. Our delectable daily selections are sure to satisfy your craving. We carry a wide range of breakfast items such as muffins, Danishes, scones and croissants, as well as tasty treats that go great with coffee or tea, such as biscotti, eclairs and tartlets.
Pie - Just the word can bring up fond memories of eatng a slice of your favorite from when you were a kid, or just a few days ago. At The Village Bakery, we take pie making, like all of our other products, very seriously. Our Apple pies are made only with fresh Granny Smith apples - never canned or frozen.

Professional cakes, have used them in the past for several occasions. Unfortunately today’s incident was very disappointing. Cake was ordered 2 weeks ago for my niece’s elementary national honor society ceremony for this evening at 5 pm. Upon arrival at pickup at 3 pm, I was informed artwork could not have been done. Asked if my sister had been contacted with the issue, response from Richard was, “he wasn’t the one who took down the order.” Assured me the cake would be delivered via courier a little bit after 5 during Houston traffic. I received a voicemail 10 minutes before ceremony

First time using this bakery and definitely the last. For a $100+ cake, the exterior quality was mediocre. I think the picture speaks for itself. Picked up the cake a few hours before a birthday, not much changes we can do WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF AN EVENT.
After bringing up concerns to Richard, the owner, no consideration was given to mediating the issue. As a business owner myself, I am honestly disgusted with that level of service as I have personally gone out of my way to refund customers or provide a discount if the product I offered was not as expected. Period, no questions asked. But hey,

AMAZING service, talent and flavors! I ordered a wedding cake and Mr. Richard was so kind and understanding with what I wanted. The cake come out beautifuly and the flavors were soooo good! The cake definitely a highlight of the night. All my guest were so impressed and at awe. Thank you Mr. Richard and your team for doing such an amazing job.

They get 5 stars from me because they gave me exactly what i asked for. A custom poker style chocolate cake for my friends birthday. Well i want you all to know that my friend has been fighting cancer. I didnt think he was going to be here to even celebrate a birthday. It has been a long hard battle for him. He was sooo happy when he saw the cake. He loved it!!! It was also yummy good! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I was not happy with my two experiences. The first cake was $350 - it collapsed and I had to fix it myself with Oreos before the party. The second cake was just a simple 7 inch cake. The order wasn't ready when I was advised. I called and asked when they they told me 1 more hour. So I show up and no cake. They said oh we will deliver it and they did ...about 7 hours later at 10:00 pm. At the time I get my cake, it was nothing like the one I ordered. I was showed a fondant cake with specific cake tops for the theme. It showed up buttercream with no tops. I could have made it myself. The delivery

Richard and the team made my son's groom's cake come alive by recreating his homemade ice cream brand into a whole cake. My son was floored and the wedding guests were amazed and impressed. Shout out to Sam for making sure our transport with the cake was a breeze. I will definitely recommend The Village Bakery!

I researched this bakery for my daughter's Baby Shower and their reviews was all good. I quickly found out those reviews my have left something out. My venue was out of there zone so I had to pay for a delivery service to bring my items. A service that they use for delivery's. I called to confirm my delivery time and to make sure my order would be there. I should have know that something would go wrong. When I was there to pay for my order and another customer was waiting for their order to be completed. They order were late because of the bakery was being shorthanded and that customer was extremely

5 stars for their always impressive talent and skill! They are able to take a picture and duplicate it impeccably!!
5 stars for the texture and flavor too! My very first cake from them was a 30th bday cake for my fiancé's surprise party.
The cake was beautifully made, but their were some issues in the transit that it got smudged and the delivery time.
The owner was very kind and professional about remediating it for me right away, which I really appreciated, so I decided to let them do my engagement party cake as well.
They delivered it promptly and in perfect condition, and it was as delicious

Friendly people, and my order was on time, but i was disappointed by both the taste, and the appearance of the cookies that i ordered. they did not taste like any shortbread i've ever had. the colors were mostly ok, but the difference in shape between what i requested and what i received is almost laughable. for the one where i wanted balloon, gift box, circle, and cake shapes, i received only circle shapes. the other set was missing the candle shape entirely. i was actually taken aback since there were photos of some wonderful cookie projects, that presumably he'd done, displayed in the shop.
