El Bolillo Bakery started out as a small Mexican bakery in the Greater Heights area of Houston. Over time the bakery became popular due to its hundreds of everyday fresh pastries and great customer service. Soon, business out grew the small building the bakery started in and construction started for a bigger bakery across the street.
Following the momentum of growing popularity, another location was opened in the South side of Houston off of S. Wayside. It has become part of the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce and has remained active within the Community surrounding it. El Bolillo Bakery has one of the largest varieties of Tres Leches cakes that can be chosen from everyday.

Services
This place is amazing. The prices are on point, they have so many options, they usually always have my favorites, and the staff is so friendly! Don't be afraid to practice your Spanish here.; This place was like a bakery candy store in the sense of a bakery. Sweet aroma trekking through my nose and pretty Mexican paintings on the ceiling and walls.

Best place to buy Mexican bread. The bolillos (French bread) tastes better than what it did back in Mexico!
The Rosca de Reyes is a must try in January.
Pan de Muerto is another must try in November.
The pineapple empanadas are also on point.
We love coming here frequently. They also make fresh flour tortillas and they look really good.
Must try if you’ve never tried it or are visiting Houston.
EDIT: They don’t accept Discover credit cards

Great pastries! Super inexpensive and a fun place to bring guests and kids since you can pick out and try a bunch of different things. It gets SUPER crowded and the staff speaks limited English. It's a good thing I don't live closer because I would be here every day. Super cute holiday sugar cookies $1.75 each and the best croissants I've ever had.

Don’t know why I didn’t learn my lesson the first 5 times !!! Lol this place was awesome once upon a time !! Not only are they far but they are not cheap !!!!! It to get comfortable enough to sell old bread like this is absurd ! If I want old bread there are many places !! And they don’t advertise fresh !! This filling is so hard it fell apart when I open it in half . I was dumb founded and they do not use fresh filling they feel so confident they use paste now for the filling 🤮 worse experience ever !! They have become so mediocre sadly when they actually were so great once !!!

One of my favorite places to go when I'm on the Northside of town. Make a quick stop in, pick up a pan and a set of tongs. And pick up pan dulce (sweet bread) to your heart's desire. My favorite are the cream cheese flower cups. The line can sometimes be long but it moves quick and the prices are well worth it.

I love the pan dulce here. This is my go to place for the sweet bread. However, I ordered/purchased a cake for my daughter's 1st communion and while it was a beautifully decorated cake, it was very dry. For $72, I would have liked a better tasting moist cake. There was hardly any strawberry filling in the layers either. I won't be ordering a cake from there again.
