SilkRoll was inspired by founder Janet Wu's personal journey through her life transitions from being an investment banker in London, Singapore & Hong Kong, to becoming a startup CFO, and now a new mother living with her growing family in San Francisco. For a modern-day woman on the go, life takes us places.
We go through multiple changes in our careers, our personal lives, our family situations, our body shape, and our emotional state. Through each change, one thing remains constant - the need for the appropriate wardrobe. We find ourselves constantly having to reinvest in our closets, some times from scratch.

A couple of years ago I won a free month subscription to SilkRoll and their services. It was so much fun to ship/receive items for free, turn in old clothes for points towards "new" clothes for me. Highly recommend for anyone with a closet full of clothes they don't wear and are needing a closet update!

I sent some clothes to trade at SilkRoll I no longer wore. The trade-in was a pretty easy process and they gave me a fair credit amount. However, that was over a year ago and I still haven't used my credit. I'm mid-sized and the sizing between XL, XXL, 1X and 16W vs 16 gets a little murky. They do provide measurements, but I wish they also included a photo of the tag with size info. I wouldn't mind taking a gamble on the shipping and buying a brand I am familiar with the fit if I could distinguish between straight size and plus. If I weren't mid-size, this would be a great place to shop!

I used to sell to ThredUp, but SilkRoll is way better! They give you a lot of bang for your buck, and they have a good selection of clothing in all sizes to choose from that you can swap for the stuff you don't need. I'm tiny, so shopping is a pain for me, but SilkRoll doesn't fail to accommodate. I think this is a brilliant idea, and I look forward to continuing to use SilkRoll!

I used to sell to ThredUp, but I never felt like I was getting much back. SilkRoll's method of offering points you can exchange for clothing seems much better, and they are pretty generous with how many points they offer for nice trade-in items. I'm excited to stock up on some fall essentials soon with the points I've accrued!

I am not a monthly subscriber for their service because I do only 3-4 exchanges in a year, but I love . Their mission and business is exactly what I was looking for: 1) They accept my barely used clothing, which otherwise would be just taking space in my closet, 2) I am usually able to find a few pieces on their site that are awesome and… make me feel like I am renewing my wardrobe each season, and 3) They are transparent about their costs. Yes, the charge a service fee AND somewhat expensive shipping, but it is a business. I am happy to pay $50-80 3-4 times a year for 4-5 items each time

I just love Silkroll! You don't have to have a membership to use the service, but it does have it's perks. I chose not to because I don't trade a lot. I've sent in my designer items and got points for them that I used to get some really great things! Everything is in great shape, they're very conscientious about condition. I've been using them for over a year now and never had any problems. Once an item got damaged in shipping which wasn't their fault. They still sent me a return label and gave me my points back no questions asked! It was "smooth as silk" dealing with their customer service. I

I just got my 2nd SilkRoll order and I’m ecstatic. Trading the things hanging unloved in my closet for these beauties was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. It took me a bit to understand the business model but now that I’ve caught on, I’m thrilled! The site is easy to use and the items are well modeled and pictured. Customer service is excellent. Very happy customer.

I saw this on shark tank and even though the companies evaluation was way over the top I figured my wife would love the service and I was signing up for her account and she was very excited and then we saw the monthly pricing and the refusal list and lost all interest, the user "points" or "Q's"are evaluated from the value of garments but if you accidentally trade in a "bad brand" they punish or remove "Q's" from your total, and then the company makes donations of your clothing and gets to write that off on taxes at the end of the year so double $$ for them and then you lose perfectly expensive

I love the concept behind this company and love using it. You are given real value for the clothes you trade in and I love that at any point I can trade in the clothes I previously ordered and still redeem value, even months later! It really does feel like you have a huge closet to rotate through. I was also really impressed by the customer service I received, especially from Agi, who was genuinely invested in making my experience as a customer the best it can be!

Since my last review wouldn’t let me edit from “doesn’t recommend” to “recommends” I’m just going to start fresh. First of all, this is SUCH an amazing concept! I’ve been pondering this idea for a while and finally someone has taken the initiative to get going and as a customer I’m excited! Like any start up they are figuring out what works and… what doesn’t and after speaking to the co-owner I’m certain that she is willing to do the leg work to make sure customers get what they expect for a fair price. If you have already

I wanted to like Silkroll and my first couple of trade experiences were positive. However, my most recent transaction has been quite frustrating. They advertise free shipping if you spend a certain amount of 'Q's'. I certainly met that criteria but I was never credited the shipping amount. I emailed them 5 times and put a call into them to which… they never responded. Very poor customer service... esp for someone who has been a repeat customer for this new biz. In addition, my account is unattainable due to bugs in their system. This is certainly not a professional business. One more thing

Initially, I thought it was a great deal: $29 per month for a clothing trade-in service. You trade in brand name clothes for points and you redeem points to swap clothes. Brilliant, right? It was, up until the company abruptly changed their membership structure on December 21st without any advanced notice or warning to members. When I contacted customer service to discuss my disappointment, I was dismissed. Now, I am left stuck with thousands of points (referred to as Q’s) from my traded clothes. These are brand name clothes which retails for thousands of dollars, which I will now have to be
