Services
Originally opened in 1889 on what was part of a Spanish land grant, the Bernardo Winery has become, over the years, not only a fully productive San Diego winery, but a destination for wine lovers and tourism visitors alike. Bernardo Winery produces wines from locally sourced grapes that suit the San Diego Terroir, such as Syrah, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sangiovese.
A slight difference in attention to detail in the vineyard can go a long way in the final bottle and this viognier is a shining example of that. With slightly more foliage cover and picking a little later, the fruit has given us some delicious flavors of guava, green banana, white peach, and almond.
All professional photographers must have permission to use the winery grounds and check in at the office upon entering the winery grounds, as the winery is privately owned. School group (ie Prom) photography is not permitted. Contact info@bernardowinery.com for our photography contract. We love our furry friends, but pets are not permitted on the winery grounds.
Thank you for shopping local in our Village Shops, our shop owners truly appreciate your business. All locally owned and operated, the winery village shops are located throughout our courtyard and have something for everyone. Icarus features local artists, mosaics, oil paintings, hand painted furniture unique, one-of-a-kind home decor items, and custom framing in our gallery.

The 3 salad choices areβ¦β¦eh. Purchased one overpriced $18 iceberg lettuce that had maybe 1tsp of the βvinaigretteβ and who knows where the addl toppings were? Walked back to hostess area because no one checked on us and received 2Tbs of oil and a splash of balsamic? Now I have a tasteless oil salad!!! Horrible food. Everyone else at the table got pizza and weβre all unimpressive

What a joyful and wonderful place to visit! It's like a vineyard wonderland village. You can taste wines, you can eat foods and you can shop around. The wine here is very tasty, we tried their only sparkling wine here which I enjoyed it very much. It's very crisp, light, and dry. The foods here are decent too, I loved their pizza. The decorations and atmosphere here are so good, I'll bring my family and friends back here to taste wines and wander around.

We had dinner at the kitchen.
It was cold at this time of the year. They definitely should have more heaters or less tables in the outdoor dining area at this time of the year.
There was a large table sitting next to us that was rude and loud. They tried to move the heater away from our table to their direction. After my husband raised objection, one of the guys actually threw a cork at me. Here we are having our date night with polite guests, great! Our server did apologize, but what else can they do to this large party and potentially great amount of tip?
Food is ok. We ended up taking our

Came here with my boyfriend on my birthday and it was too cute! Everything was made fresh such as the pizza & spaghetti and the place was beautiful! They kept it how it is suppose to look back in the days which was cool (especially the sinks which I found amazing too!) Best time to go is sunset so you can see both daylight and the night lights in the winery. Love walking around this winery with my novio. :)

Absolutely loved this winery! The lady that helped us was very knowledgeable and friendly. The seating outside was perfectly shaded, the wine was refreshing. Did not try any food but already can't wait to come back and try all the other diff types of wines. I saw they provide beer as well. They give chocolate that pairs with your wine. If you've never been here make sure you give this place a try! Super impressed!

Great wine! Great ambience! Great service! Decent food. I mean I get the wineries are for wine and not food but they do have a restaurant so you'd think there would be some amazing items on the menu but all in all it's pretty basic and boring, which is disappointing. It won't stop me from going again and again though lol! I must also mention that they don't allow dogs! I think that's a big shame! If they allowed dogs, I would be there daily!

WARNING TO COUPLES CONSIDERING BERNARDO FOR THEIR WEDDING!!! I generally avoid blasting negativity but this is to FOREWARN other couples not to have their wedding here. We had our 170 guest wedding here in June and it was stressful, to say the least. It's September and I'm still holding resentment so figure it's best to post our negative experience.
There were a dozen of preventable issues that went wrong during our wedding because of sloppy management and poor service. This venue might seem like a good value but that's because they ran our ceremony and reception like

The Kitchen is *everything* and so much more. My tastebuds were completely tantalized upon arrival and then satiated after a taste of what it felt like everything on the menu. Everything is fresh, robust in flavor, and just filling enough (meaning you can sip wine in between). My family and I shared pizzas, pasta, salad, and a memorable spread of appetizers. We had a great experience because our server Parker did a great job accommodating our family.
There's not one thing I don't recommend. My daughter deemed the cheese pizza "The Best Pizza"-- coming from the worlds pickiest

Came here for the 1st time for my birthday and the experience was amazing 𧑠I love the venue and the outdoor seating area. Everything was spaced for my party of 5 and the food and wine was spectacular. Only thing that was a little confusing is that you have to choose if you are going to the restaurant or the tasting room but you can eat and drink at both π€·ββοΈ we ordered bottles to share and got the Malbec and the Burgundy π both were delicious and full bodied but my favorite of the both was the Burgundy π·π·π· I liked the story behind it and it was very delicious!! I cannot believe all the yard I lived in San Diego and I've never been here. A bit hidden in Rancho Bernardo and parking isn't the best but a hidden gem. Came here with a few friends and ordered dinner and wine tasting. The lady was very knowledgeable and nice. It's was a tad chilly outside but she brought blankets for us.

TLDR: Decent wine. Decent food. Decent service.
We came on a Saturday with a group of 6 and made a reservation as it stated was required on the website. When we got there, they confirmed we had a reservation but then we had to find our own table to sit at. We did find one, but what was the point of the reservation then?? The ordering was weird too because you order at the wine counter but then they bring it out to you. No servers here. It just all felt a little disjointed.
We got a couple wine flights, wood fired bread and pizzas. The best wine was definitely their 2018 malbec. The right amount

I haven't gone to the winery since pre covid; I used to go a few times a month for lunch or dinner and it was always delicious and a great environment. I went this past weekend, a reservation is required now, no walk ins. All time slots were full.
My mom and I decided to take a chance and show up, just curious how things changed due to covid, and the lady working at the tasting room was extremely nice and was able to get us a seat. Besides the super sweet lady, I was extremely impressed with their health and safety measures. They limit seating for the restaurant and the tables are spread

Very excited to visit this winery. It's located in the middle of a track of homes in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego. Frankly, not sure if the winery or the track of homes were there first.
I really liked the the layout and the design of the entire campus. It's a great mix of shops, food and wine. At night, the lighting is romantic and you and your significant other will truly enjoy.
The wire is good. Not great, but good. The food is good and above average. The setting is the real winner in this place though.
We had a lot of fun here and I hope you will too.
Enjoy!

The cutest winery! It is located in a small plaza alongside some cute shops. A flight of three wines was at the amazing price of $20 and you can take it outside to drink with a cute wine holder.
I recommend the Sparkling and the Chardonnay. I also tried the 2018 Viognier but I felt that my pour was a bit too warm for me. The chocolate shop in the plaza will give you sample chocolates that pair with your wines!
I also recommend getting the food here. The charcuterie board was beautiful and delicious. The pasta is fresh and homemade.

This place is wonderful and there are so many things to do here. My wife and I did the wine tasting and although the wine was great the cheese plate was the best thing there. The berries were very fresh and full of flavor. It was the perfect pairing with the wine. There are tons of shops and a really good chocolate store on the grounds. They also have an amazing place for weddings, it is an outdoor barn area. I highly recommend coming out to the grounds and spending an afternoon.

Super cute wine village with a tasting room, restaurant, and shops (sweets, beauty products, coffee, and more). Beautifully designed and decorated with strong lights, succulents, and accessories. Was looking for vineyards close to downtown San Diego and this area was perfect can easily Lyft there approx 30 min without traffic.
Tasting room has a large covered patio with lots of seating and restaurant has a matching one, thereβs also benches and more seating throughout. A bit hidden as you drive through the canyon and a residential area with lucky owners to be steps away from this space.
