Services
The City of Port Washington (formerly Washington City of Washington County) has a long history of fine hotels. The Port Hotel finds its roots dating back to the very beginning of our city when Martin F. Thomas and his wife Nancy purchased the land tract for $40.00. As soon as the City of Port Washington was founded, in 1835, a hotel and tavern were built and were named the "American House".
The Port Hotel Inn, presenting luxurious guest accommodations, has opened its doors. The Inn's first overnight guests arrived for a New Year's Eve celebration, and woke to 2006 in splendid fashion! Each of the 10 rooms showcase an array of elegant furnishings touching on several period surroundings such as Williamsburg Colonial, French Provincial, Mediterranean, Rustic Italian, allowing each room its individual personality.
Inspired by authentic antiques and family heirlooms, Wainwright knows its heritage - 18th century furniture with an English lineage that has grown up in America. Crafted of solid cherry and cherry veneers with African crotch mahogany, Wainwright boasts a lovely aged patina with authentic physical distressing such as worn edges, worm holes and rasping.
Inspired by furnishings of stately Georgian manors from the eighteenth century, we proudly present classic furnishings reflecting the rich traditions of our country's past. Crafted from cherry veneers and select hardwoods these combine to create authentic eighteenth century details with elegant Queen Anne and European traditional styling.
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, or John Adams (along with their wives!) would be right at home in this fete of Olde World Colonial Williamsburg. Graceful damask draperies frame the fireplace, while the highest bed provides comfort and relaxation. A luxurious Kohler Water Haven shower completes this room as a restful and therapeutic experience.

The hotel is not really operating as a hotel, more like a b&b. The office hours are short. The building was an old hotel that has been updated, and yet reflects its history and time period. The halls were nicely decorated and the rooms were appointed with tasteful, comfortable furnishings, bed and bedding. Nice views of the small, hilly town and the lake. Windows open wide for the fresh breezes.
Things I noticed that could be improved;
the outside entrance area was unkempt and had really ugly fake flowers at the entrance as well as the main lobby. The main halls smelled musty (the rooms smelled

We recently stayed several days at the historic Port Hotel located in the heart of charming downtown Port Washington, Wisconsin. It was an amazing experience! On the day we arrived, we were greeted by the hotel owner who gave us a warm welcome and a detailed orientation of the hotel. He escorted us to our room and showed us the amenities in our elegant suite which included a fireplace, a wet bar and luxury bedding and bath. Our stay also included guest-selected breakfast offerings which were delivered by the delightfully warn and welcoming hospitality staff members each morning. The food we were

Great place to stay in Port Washington; only one block from downtown. Attractive, updated rooms, yet still reflect "the old days!" Service is top notch with a night,y turn-down service which includes a couple of tasty chocolates-who doesn't love chocolate??? Comfortable bed, fireplace, bath robes, a little bit of luxury on the lake in Wisconsin. Just be aware that the rooms are on the second and third floors and there is no elevator.

This hotel is fantastic, very accommodating, and absolutely beautiful!

I stayed the weekend over Port Washington's annual Pirate Festival, with my friend. The location was quite ideal, in a historic part of town that overlooks the lake. The interior was breathtaking and our room was perfect. Our first evening there, we went down to the hotel bar and chatted with some of the staff, who were very helpful in suggesting places to check out around town. Every employee we encountered was delightful and they really did go that extra mile to make sure we felt welcome. I will absolutely be

Drove up from the Chicago area, my wife and I have never stayed in the Port Washington area. I must say we love the Port Inn Hotel, large spacious room, beautifully appointed with dark oak furniture and trim. We stayed in room 306, highly recommend!
Large jacuzzi tub, Huge gas fireplace, separate walk in shower and vanity room. The king four post bed, with super high quality sheets was super comfy.
I made my reservations with Joe the owner, he could not have been nicer or more professional, and to top it off, free breakfast in bed!
The price we paid was a fantastic value and we can't

Came up here to get away from the city and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's nice to not stay in a box hotel. The owner was extremely nice and very accommodating. The room was charming and had nice touches that separated it from those big hotels. Things like breakfast brought to your door in the morning when you specify it and being brought to your room during check in and showed around.

Side note, it's a very short walk to a really nice paved trail and just steps from a pretty down town with shops and restaurants. It's also really close to the lake and a small pier which is pretty.

Stayed here on Sunday night as a getaway. Charming, elegant room, very clean, wonderful linens, and a very gracious staff. While it lacks the amenities of a large hotel, is was incredibly charming for a romantic getaway, with special touches like wine glasses and upscale chocolates on the pillows. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend brought me here for a surprise getaway. I was a little skeptical based on the outside appearance. But after walking into our room I was very pleased. The staff was amazing, full breakfast (seasoned to prefection) and a lake side view. Everything needed for a romantic getaway. Definitely a place to visit again!!

Just came back from a lovely weekend at the Port Hotel and can't say enough good things about our visit. Our room - 202 was lovely and made you feel as though you were a guest in someone well-appointed home. Such a cozy room. The bed was amazingly comfortable.

The staff was extremely professional, helpful and hardworking. The Sunday Brunch was out of this world and loved the cole slaw and all the homemade desserts. We will be back for our visit next year and plan on having dinner in the restaurant.

If you are going to Port Washington for a visit you must stay at the Port Hotel.

Great road trip getaway from Chicago. Room was extremely comfortable, well appointed and tastefully decorated with fireplace. We stayed in a room with the Waterhaven shower which was a great luxury. Inn keepers were kind, informative, and attentive. Breakfast was hot, tasty and delivered to the room which felt a little like we were living at Downton Abbey. A gem.

This review is for the hotel only.

My husband and I are in our late 20's and spent last weekend here. We had such a lovely time. Our room was quaint and very cozy. We loved getting breakfast in bed. In the past we have stayed at the Washington House Inn in Cedarburg. This trip reminded me a lot of past stays there, except that it was more affordable and we really enjoyed the town of Port Washington more. The restaurant choices in the area were wonderful and because of the central location of the Port Hotel, it was so nice to be able to walk to everything. We interacted with Lena on staff

I have been to the Port Hotel numerous times now and I felt that I would give my honest opinion about this restaurant. The food is always on point, I've had the prime rib and it's wonderfully seasoned and cooked to perfection. The friday fish fry competes with all the great friday fish fry legends. The best part of the Port Hotel is the chefs dinner, the last Wednesday of each month at 6pm is when it starts. The chef prepares a 5 course meal with a wine pairing for each meal. I would highly recommend anyone stopping by for either the prime rib or the fish fry or the chefs dinner.

The Port Hotel is a wonderful place to go if you want a consistently good meal. I have yet to had a steak that hasn't been cooked and seasoned to perfection. The addition of the new chef's meals on the last Wednesday of every month has been delightful too! Working your way through 5 courses, you can see the talent of the chef's with the variety of food they bring out and the wines they chose to pair with them. For a mere $35, it is well worth it in my opinion.
I would suggest posting the menu prior to the meal. I can understand where it can be intimidating to agree to a meal when

I seldom write reviews but this experience leaves me no choice.

Visiting Port Washington from out of town we looked for a decent meal and had read decent reviews of the Port Hotel so we decided to try it.

Arriving to the building you will notice it's not much of anything. An older brick building that looks to be nothing special. We walked in and were promptly greeted by a very bubbly and happy waitress. She said the host would be right with us. An older lady greeted us and showed us to a table and gave us menus.

The dining room is quiet somewhat romantic and filled with well dressed

This is a review for the hotel:

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding. We usually stay at the nearby corporate named hotel but it was all booked up. This turned out to be a good thing as we absolutely loved our stay at the Port Hotel so much more! We stayed in room 307 and it was fabulous. Very clean, satellite TV, down comforter, plush white robes, remodeled bathroom, and the best part: free breakfast in bed in the mornings! (The apple stuffed French toast was delish). When staying here, keep in mind that this is an old fashioned style hotel: there isn't a 24hour desk. But this was

Went to brunch on Mother's Day with my family today. We read about the weekly brunch on the restaurant's website, which was advertised at $12.99/person. There was no mention of Mother's Day, or a special arrangement for the holiday. So, we made reservations, and went to brunch. When we got the bill, it was $25/person. We were floored. No where on their website did they specify that the brunch price on this particular Sunday was going to be nearly double the normal price. We felt very deceived and disappointed.

Not only did we feel completely deceived about the price of the brunch

Stayed at The Port Hotel and headed downstairs for dinner. A bottle of wine was included with our stay, but apparently the bottle was not one they were proud of. It wasn't listed on the wine menu and the waitress didn't even bother to present it. She dumped it in the glass and screwed the cap back on.

We ordered the steak aupoive, cooked medium rare, with the spinach salad and baked potato. The rye bread was delivered, without butter and it appeared to be a loaf of sliced bread straight off the shelves of a grocery store. The potato was barely warm, a little crusty, and probably had

The minute you open the door, it feels like you walked into the past. The hotel's ambiance and decor reminded me of the movie "Four Seasons."

The waitressing staff was helpful and knowledgable. The food was simple and good. We ordered steak and sautéed walleye pike dinners. The fish was sautéed in butter with a dash of salt and pepper. I personally love simple flavors, so I loved the dish. In my opinion, it is easy to overwhelm/spoil pike's sweetness using strong spices. That was not the case with their sautéed walleye pike dish. It was served with steamed vegetables that

Very romantic! We always come here for the Alaskan King Crab Legs, which are always served pre-split (what service). We love the included side salad -- hot bacon dressing, caesar, but our favorite dressing... parmesan! They always serve great cold liver pate and veggies with good crackers - even rye crisps. The appetizer Prime Bites is to die for, it's just crisp, salty and once you get to the prime rib meat inside... tender and juicy. WOW.

The Port Hotel (Restaurant) is one of our special places we go with either our family or just the two of us for a special night out. Linen table
