CityWide SuperSlow
The science-based SuperSlow method involves lifting and lowering a challenging weight over a 20-second timeframe. This slow approach eliminates acceleration and momentum, working the muscles more effectively and safely. Experience the benefits of high-intensity strength training-a full-body workout in only 20 minutes, once or twice a week.

We talk with Allan Kaplan, who has been with us since the beginning, and Rowen Glusman, who was just learning to walk when we opened, about health, strength, and why we keep coming back for more. Science-based proven technique of strength training that is so effective, it takes care of all your exercise needs in a 20 minute workout, once or twice a week.
Services
Certified SuperSlow instructors provide one-on-one strength training using this highly effective and original protocol. Exercises are performed on specialized MED-X equipment that allows for slow, frictionless movement and a full range of motion under controlled speed. We strive to provide our clients with the quality of training and support they need in attaining their goals.
The SuperSlow technique is different than the traditional style of weight training. Rather than going the typical 2-4 seconds to lift and lower the weight with multiple sets, the SuperSlow method uses a 10/10 rep speed with only one set. The goal is to safely bring the muscles to complete fatigue in a brief amount of time, about 2 minutes per exercise.
I love the process, the speed of the workout and most of all the outstanding results. Jim Lavan takes training very seriously and I have been the beneficiary of his relentless adherence to strive for perfect form. I have found that the owners of CWSS go out of their way to provide a 5 Star experience for all of their clients.
Effective strength training can prevent and even reverse the downward spiral of aging due to muscle loss. Research shows you can regain lost muscle even if you start to train as late as your 90's. Muscle loss accelerates in our 50s and again after age 60. By age 70, the wasting away of muscle, a disease known as sarcopenia, will destroy 1/3 of overall muscle mass.
It's more than looking good, muscle strength is about feeling good and enhancing your quality of life. When you add strength, almost every health outcome improves. Building and maintaining muscle turns your body into a more efficient calorie-burning machine, increasing your resting metabolic rate. You can better manage your weight, lose fat and get fit as you gain muscle.
