I bought 2 king cakes from Sam's. One filled the other plain. The pecan filling was thin and actually had a fruity taste. The deal breaker though is, there is no cinamon in these king cakes! Just plain yellow dough. When I returned them to Sam's the girl at the customer service desk was even shocked and said she has never heard of a king cake without cinamon.

Brought the Plain home and boy did it ever live up to the description PLAIN! Dry, white, bread with icing. No flavor whatsoever!!
I'm a fifty-plus year native New Orlean'n and it ranks right with McKenzie giant iced dry donut. When you take the shrink wrap off there is no way to keep it fresh but I don't think you'd notice the difference.

Though they might not get all the press, I write with confidence knowing that La Louisiane is an outstanding bakery in the New Orleans area. Located in a semi-sleepy warehouse'y area of Elmswood, they manage to crank out delicious baked goods daily and have made a name for themselves through local catering.
While they bake a number of things, I think it's safe to say cakes are their most popular item. They make really awesome wedding cakes, sheet cakes, cupcakes, and a really stellar king cake. The latter is available year round, which is really convenient. The doberge cake is perfect

A long time employee and proud La Lou family member. I may be biased, but facts are facts, and I would vouch for anything made here. Wholesale team makes fresh items daily to be delivered to the New Orleans metro area. King cakes year round- shipping available. Pastry and dessert team is one of a kind, skilled and creative. Your event is not complete without a La Lou cake! Wedding, birthday, shower, party of any kind - La Louisiane will make it memorably delicious!

I used la Louisiane as a recommendation from a coworker and they exceeded every expectation! Our cakes looked even better than I'd envisioned and the taste was unparalleled! I don't usually like chocolate cake, but theirs was so good we ordered it for our groom's cake. Now, my husband tries to make up special occasions so we can order another cake from them!

Living in New Orleans, we are blessed with many delicious bakeries throughout the area. Some are known for king cake, some are famous for doberge, etc. If you are looking for the most amazing wedding cake of your life, look no further. My experience with La Louisiane was a dream. I didn't look anywhere else. Dealing with Amanda is always a delight!! My cake was exactly what I wanted....gorgeous and enormous. The venue needed a ladder to cut and serve the cake!! And the flavors and freshness can not be beat....do not get a cake without the fresh strawberries inside. It is all anyone could talk about

I did not expect to get a cake because I don't like fondant and didn't even realize there was such a thing as a "naked" cake until I saw it at other people's weddings. I also thought I would just get dessert, but as it turns out, getting a cake was more affordable than getting dessert at my venue. I saw a La Louisiane cake at my venue's instagram and after reading the reviews, expect it to be super expensive. I was surprised by how affordable our naked red velvet cake was! It was also DELICIOUS! Moister than I expected and the frosting was not too sweet. LaLou

My step mom ordered my baby shower cake from La Louisiane and every guest loved it! We went with a funfetti cake with the white chocolate strawberry filling and ameriswiss buttercream frosting. It was amazing! They nailed the twinkle twinkle little star theme as well. I am so pleased with how it turned out and can't wait for them to create my wedding cake next year!

I recently stumbled upon a top king cake list and I saw a picture of the king cake that was from La Louisiane bakery. Right away, I loved how fluffy the king cake looked compared to this flat one that someone had bought me from Randazzo's. I cut it open and I fell in love with how soft, moist, and fluffy it was. The box said that it used a traditional brioche dough. My favorite part is how this king cake is not smothered in cinnamon where it is so overpowering it dries your mouth out. Yum!

Guess what day it is. That's right! It's King Cake Day 2019 at our apartment! My mom (a true Louisiana lady) has been sending us king cakes for years since we live so far away. I grew up looking forward to king cake each year, and unless it's made in Louisiana it just ain't that good.
We have been receiving La Louisiane king cakes for years now, and we look forward to every single bite. As soon as we finish our king cake each year we start counting down the days until we get our refill the following year! This particular Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday for the uninitiated) the cake

ABSOLUTE WORST
Having been “born and raised” in N’awlins, and having eaten King Cakes from all the best bakeries NOLA has to offer for over six decades. Like so many treasured families, friends, traditions, and institutions, of a once magnificent city, many of the best life has to offer are longer with us.
Yet, there still exist a few bakeries/stores that proudly carry on the delicious tradition of providing scrumptious King Cakes to the satisfy crowds, crowds who are hopelessly inflicted with an annual inspired craving for these Purple, Green, and Gold delights.
HOWEVER, the “king cakes”

La Louisiane supplies the pastries for my regular coffee shop Uptown. My coffee shop opens at 8am daily, and I visit at least 4 times a week right around when they open. On days that La Louisiane feels like making their delivery on time, I absolutely love to order their cinnamon rolls and muffins. Only problem, they are grossly unreliable. I waited from 8:30 to 10:15 this morning for them to show up with their delivery, and they never came! How hard is it to stick to a delivery schedule of 8AM EVERY SINGLE DAY??? Something HAS to change. Inconsistency and arrogance kill small businesses. I hope

I ordered a cake for my friends 30th birthday. I kind of waited until the last minute, but they were able to accommodate. Not only did the cake look phenomenal, but it was delicious. I also I thought the cake would be covered in fondant but it wasn't. The cake was so perfectly smooth and beautiful that the fondant was not missed at all.

There aren't enough stars to describe how amazing this bakery is. We ordered our wedding cake for last november & if there was a word better than perfect to describe it, that would be. We ordered the white chocolate mousse & it was so fresh. There was not a negative word about our cake & our guests literally took multiple pieces home. To this day, people compliment our cake. A lot of our guests even thought the cake was fake that's how beautiful it was. Amanda & her staff did an amazing job & were so great to work with to help make our day perfect. The price is worth

So this bakery was highly recommended to me by my mom. She ordered my brother a few cakes from La Louisiane in the past and ranted and raved about them so when we decided to have a destination wedding in New Orleans we decided to give them a shot. My daughter, mother, and I went to a cake testing in January. The selection was very limited but very good. I ordered a 3-tier wedding cake. Top and bottom layer was to be their white wedding cake with almond mousseline and raspberry filling and the middle layer was to be chocolate cake with their pecan praline mousseline. I, myself, being a pastry

I did not know why people on The Knot said their guests did not like eating wedding cakes. Then i had to go wedding cake tasting for my own wedding, and i understood why! I tried all the well-rated bakeries and was about to give up and just get the cheapest since they were all so bad. La Louisiane was the last on my list. It was such a surprise and a relief! The cake + frosting had the right texture and taste. They also were the only ones to allow ombre in the cake batter, whereas all the other bakeries will mass-produce their cake sheets, making any customization of the batter impossible. That

Another solid King Cake bakery. I haven't been to the actual store. Their cakes are at various locations around the city. A coworker brought this one today.
We had the pecan praline version which was more of a topping then a filling. The pecan praline was tasty without being too sweet (emphasis on pecan rather than praline which I appreciated). I did have to dump off some of the icing. That was a little too sweet for me first thing in the morning.
Tasty.
