Our dining room combines a refined menu, wine, and craft cocktails. In the original architecture of our gorgeous 19th century home creating what will be a memorable dining experience! Chef LaBelle with longevity in the culinary field fetaures a classic yet contemporary perspective on dining using seasonal & local ingredients.
Each one of the Kirby's Guest Rooms is uniquely appointed with modern pops of color and design in what were the original bedrooms of the Sarah M. Kirby House. Three of our rooms have ensuite bathrooms, while other two feature charming detached, private bathrooms.

The Kirby was the best! It was one of these best small Inn experiences we've ever had. My husband and I traveled from Charleston, so we are a bit spoiled...
Chris assured our stay was top notch. We enjoyed the atmosphere, food and the BEST of Saugatuck for 3 days thanks to the lovely Kirby, and our amazing host Chris .

Sue and I stayed Thursday to Saturday Labor Day weekend. Our stay was exceptional. The Kirby experience included a nice, clean room, a cool porch and large deck in the rear with huge umbrellas. We enjoyed drinks on both. Very relaxing. Our dining was excellent. The filet minion was the best...super tender, with a nicely charred exterior. Chef Labelle and Courtney provided very attentive service. The wine and drinks were right on. Top shelf everything, steeped in the character that only a classic historic bnb offers.

Hidden gem. The back patio was perfect with a cool comfortable vibe. Everything was delicious. We had the Caesar salad with blistered tomatoes and fried mushrooms (I hate mushrooms and these were really good), the duck was so tender and we loved the flavor of the filet mignon. The cheesy grits and mashed potatoes were wonderful accompaniments. We finished with the Creme brûlée cheesecake. The staff and chef were very knowledgeable about local ingredients and using seasonal resources.

This was a gem in tourist Michigan. The food was amazing and well plated. The drink menu was the most varied we have seen in our Saguatuck/Douglas, MI vacation so far. The pork chop was just as good as the owner-s picture. The charcuterie board was shaped like Michigan which is charming.
The outside of the house looks country, but the inside is very modern 80's. The music had great remixes of 70's and 80's plus modern songs. The inside chairs were very comfortable which is important if you are staying more than 1 hour. The bar area was adorable. This is a must do if you a are in

We have been coming to Saugatuck/Douglas for a decade, with her family. We have a week vacation every summer, usually before the season starts. So we have tried every family friendly restaurant in the area. But this year, we came early, just the two of us. That meant we wanted a place more suitable for an evening out. None of the establishments we have come to know, and like, was appropriate. This is a high-end venue for a date. It's sophisticated but retains that Midwestern vibe -- all around nice.
This is one of the few choices. But

Amazing wedding weekend at The Kirby! My son and daughter-in-law had their wedding and reception at the Kirby this past weekend. The venue, food, ambiance, EVERYTHING, was amazing. Every small detail was taken care of and Mindy, Kim and the entire staff were wonderful to work with. Everyone is still talking about what a fantastic event this was. Thank you to The Kirby for making wedding/reception dreams come true!

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Period! Now I'll be specifc with the multiple ways this dining experience was lacking: Our reservation was for 7:45 (a party of 6) we didn't cash out until almost 10! There is no reason it should have taken 2 hours. We were 2 couples eating together with our 17 year old sons so it's not like we were hanging out ... drinking a bottle of wine or anything. So service was terrible, not rude, just really non-existent with our server disappearing so often that he was unaware that our appetizer had even been delivered... more on this later. We had a wonderful meal in this 130 year old mansion. The food & wine were excellent and service was professional and friendly. It is very obvious that the chef is talented and knows how to pair flavors with great skill. It's also obvious that they take joy in what they do here, something that is getting harder to find anywhere.
As they change the menu with the seasons, using local ingredients, veggies and herbs from their own culinary garden. Great signature cocktails, local beers and ciders as well as a thoughtfully curated wine list that pairs very well with the menu.

This past April my husband and I had our wedding ceremony and dinner at the Kirby Hotel. Mindy and her staff were wonderful and made sure everything was great. The inside of the Kirby was so elegant and perfect for our small wedding of 14 guest. The food was exceptional! Everything tasted great and it really made our wedding dinner feel special. We are so happy with our stay at The Kirby and with how they handled our wedding. I would definitely recommend this place to couple's!

We found this restaurant during a review of restaurants in the area. We come in to town once a year and know the regular restaurants. We like trying new places. It is set in the Kirby, a hotel. Decor is simple but pleasant. Our party was 7 people, and we did the full gamut. Appetizers, drinks, wine,salads and entrees. Jack was our server. It was apparent he was " over his skiis" from the start. He had all the right jargon but was not confident in his skills. This became apparent as the the meal progressed. So this is my second time here the first being last season where we just drinks. This time we came for a full dinner. The place is defiantly a diamond In the ruff and don't think it has much of a buzz although it probably should being they are one of the few establishments who take reservations and have a charming setting within the first floor of the Kirby. Although it did come with some flaws. I called about 2-3 weeks prior to make a reservation knowing it was a busy holiday weekend and made one without an issue although when we arrived there was no reservation to be found. Thankfully they

We have dined here several times since they opened. Mindy, Kim and crew do an outstanding job creating fantastic food in a warm, unique and inviting atmosphere. I would not hesitate to try anything on the well-thought-out menu or the fabulous wine list (crafted by Sommelier Mindy). If there is a fresh fish special, have it. They are always super fresh and beautiful preparations.

I'm really torn. I really loved all the food. The risotto and pork chops were amazing. They had a great selection of wine. But the service was absolutely horrible. Took about 30-45 minutes to take our order. Then when we paid, it took about 20-30 minutes for them to charge our cards and let us go. We had other plans and were running late as a result. I would recommend for the food but they really need to work on service.
