Repairs are handled on a first come-first served basis. Our mission is to make riding your bike more accessible. Being able to ride your bike to work or to events makes your life better. In 2013 Kiel Johnson bought a camper trailer and spent the summer turning it into a repair shop.
After 3 months of repairing bikes under the tram, and after traveling around the Netherlands where bike valets are commonplace, Go By Bike started valeting bikes as well.Every year since the number of people parking their bike at the tram has increased by around 25%. When the tram was first designed it only included 12 bike parking spaces.

Services
With over 9 years of experience parking bicycles we offer bicycle valet and parking consultation for residential and commercial projects. We work all over North America to help maxamize space and provide the best user experience. Bicycle valet requires half the amount of space that self parking takes up and creates a more secure and better experience for people parking their bike.
Go By Bike offers our experience and expertise to make your event stand out as a place people want to ride their bikes to. Having thoughtful efficient bicycle parking reduces the need for car parking. At Go By Bike we offer self parking racks for rent (up to 100 bikes). Or can provide weekend bike valet to over 400 bikes.
Becoming a bike valet sub is a fun way to be around lots of bikes and cool people. When someone is sick or going on vacation we will make an announcement on the sub list either through text message or email. Respond with your interest and we will try to schedule you in. The base wage for subs is $17/hour.

After my last experience I was not very satisfied but it seems as though there is a better system and a more organized approach to orders for work now. I was contacted by a manager about my last review and decided to post an update. The techs and valet staff are always very friendly and helpful. I have been back a few times and have not had a problem.

My experience here was extremely rude and unprofessional. I went in for an adjustment of my brakes on my Specialized and was told my bike was, "too cheap to fix." I was then asked how much I paid for it and the employee there recommended, "older bikes that are better designed." He told me to, "consider it a lesson in finances." As a new resident of SW waterfront I'm extremely shocked by this unprofessional and elitist bike shop.

I use Go By Bike daily during my commute to work. You cannot beat the convenience of having a bike valet right by the tram. Their system is great if you are an OHSU employee/student/volunteer (not sure how it works if you are a visitor) but you scan your badge, get a number, and you get a confirmation email. They are quick to retrieve your bike at the end of the day. It's nice knowing your bike will be safe, they carry lots of liability insurance. With Portland's bike theft problem, this puts me at ease.
They can always do repairs, put fenders on, or give your bike a look over. They

Go By Bike is sometimes good as an emergency repair resource, if you work at OHSU and are in a time crunch... there's a 50% chance they can help you out. If you are anything but immobilized, getting yourself to literally any other bike shop is your best shot. Perhaps it is because my 1985-ish Schwinn bamboozles them [despite its many updated, perfectly modern parts], but 50% of the time I end up worse off than I came in.... a wheel that needed to be trued somehow more wobbly, brake systems completely jacked up, a new tube that has a valve malfunction within days... More than once, more than

We love Go By Bike. I wish they operated bike valets/shops at other locations. Lloyd Center would have my business if they did! The staff is very friendly, and thanks to my unique bike, they always have it ready to go before I even get my ticket out. It makes taking my son to his OHSU appointments a pleasure instead of something he dreads.

Having your bike parked after a long ride is sweet (just remember to bring your student ID) and the guys here are so mellow and sweet...Sometimes you want to quick check your bike in so that you can hop on the next aerial tram and they accomodate.
I asked them to tune up my classic Schwinn and they decided that it was too 'classic' so I've been riding it and its done fine. As a newer bike commuter (and OHSU makes you become one almost because of the parking issues) it is nice to feel supported. As was mentioned before, out of towner's can rent bikes and some bikes are free

Gratis bike valet at the base of the tram, with rain-proof seat covers, for anyone, I believe, OHSU-affiliated or not. Bike rentals by the hour (who doesn't own a bike in this city?). They do all the bike repairs that you can ask for, and helped me out a lot in getting my deconstructed bike into riding shape. The prices are fine, especially considering you're in godforsaken South Waterfront. There is a bit of a too-cool-for-school attitude permeating the shack, but I'm realizing that is very typical for Portland. I think it has something to do with fluoride, or lack thereof

The staff of Go By Bike are always friendly and helpful. I have rented a bike many times from Go By Bike and consistently receive well maintained equipment and excellent suggestions on where to ride as I am not familiar with the bike paths/routes of Portland. Kiel, the owner, is often on site helping and chatting with customers--great local shop!

Not just a wonderful service, but a wonderful staff. these guys care about you and your bike. parked my bike one day, and it had a frayed brake cable. asked them to repair it, came back at the end of the work day, and my bike was fixed and i rode home! no extra stop or additional appointments necessary.
if you are thinking of commuting by bike, these guys help make it easy!
