Gabriel J. Martinez-Diaz, M.D., FAAD is a Stanford University trained and board-certified dermatologist practicing aesthetic, medical, and surgical dermatology since 2014. He has been in the Chicagoland area since 2015, and has worked in various settings - a cosmetic dermatology practice in the Northshore of Chicago, a clinical research and surgically based practice, and a boutique medical, surgical and cosmetic practice in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Should you have any questions prior to your appointment, please feel free to contact our office at (312) 579-0700. We look forward to caring for your aesthetics and dermatologic needs! I have been very pleased with Dr Martinez-Diaz. Recently I had an emergent skin concern and he was able to fit me into his schedule on the same day and treated me.

I was seen by this doctor over several months and had a pretty bad experience. He was very dismissive and cavalier, which made my condition go untreated for a long time and get worse. He rushes through his appointments and didn’t provide an after visit summary of his recommendations. His medical “advice” was also dead wrong after consulting with other more competent doctors. Definitely do not recommend.

I read the reviews and figured I'd give him a try, but found them confirmed. This is an insurance shop. If you're looking for a general dermatologist look elsewhere. If you've got great insurance that covers elective procedures, this is the place for you.
First red flag should've been them asking to hold my credit card at the front desk....I guess they've had some runners.
Second was when I went into the room that was full of brochures for elective procedures. So no surprise when all 3 people I interacted with at the office noted my high deductible plan.
Third was when they charged me 'the maximum

I second the last review. I met my out-of-pocket max and the front desk told me that it doesn’t matter and they would still have to charge a co-pay. I’ve never had this issue with any other provider and I have excellent insurance coverage. Now I’m going to have to go through a uphill battle to get the funds returned to me when I shouldn’t have too if the team was competent. And, it’s not about the money, but about principle. Thought my experience would be different from the other reviews but it wasn’t. I did not have a good experience and left knowing that I would not be returning.

Front desk was curt at best. Wouldn’t let me use my debit card which I thought was shady. Staff was genuinely surprised when I just wanted a regular skin check up. Dr was nice but took 60 seconds with me and did not even give me the chance to ask questions. (That, by the way, would have most likely lead to procedures that would definitely have made them money in the long run). The gown they gave me was definitely meant to fit an XS, not an L/XL person like me. This clinic definitely caters to the wannabe Kardashians of Chicago, not just regular folk. Will not be coming back, will be leaving a

I know that people are upset about the 150 dollar cancellation fee, BUT let me tell you!! It is like winning the lotto getting an appointment at this place.
Why? I went to my old doctor for 30 years and he retired. I searched for someone that I could trust. My poor mom goes to a doctor that burns her face with acid. Thank goodness she quit. Dr. Gabriel is the nicest doctor. He is so honest and lets you know what the best approach us.

I have been visiting this dermatologist for almost two years and am extremely satisfied. The doctor cuts to the chase and is responsive to feedback and questions. My appointments start on time and the front desk staff is efficient when scheduling appointments.
It's interesting reading the negatives reviews. They seem to be mostly about payment policies, cancellation fees, and the high cost of certain treatments. To me, that's like giving a bad review to a Michelin-starred restaurant because it's expensive or you were turned away because you didn't make a reservation in advance. Such things are

I have been going to Dr. Martinez-Diaz's office for a few months now and let me tell you - wow! He is punctual, attentive, and makes sure that all my needs are met at every visit. I have seen him for both medical and cosmetic visits and he is skilled in both the science and art of dermatologic and aesthetic medicine. His staff is friendly and he usually has openings within a few days, which I appreciate with my hectic work schedule. I am disappointed, however, to see some negative reviews on this site based on his cancellation policy. He has a very reasonable 24 hour cancellation policy (as all

I have been seeing Dr Martinez-Diaz for a number of years. He is simply phenomenal. I have had numerous medical and aesthetics concerns and he delivers outstanding results. His west loop office is simply beautiful and his staff is extremely professional and friendly. I have referred a few friends over and they all rave about him and his practice. Definitely a top dermatologist in Chicago!

The response would be great if it were true. I did not receive a reminder 72 hours in advance. If I had read the other reviews beforehand, I never would've come here. They've treated way too many people unfairly with their unreasonable cancellation policy.

Don't count on their reminders. They try to be very technologically advanced but didn't text or email me a reminder (I don't think the one 11 days before counts) and then charged me $150 when I overslept and couldn't make my appointment. Never any kind of oral warning of this exorbitant charge. I've never

Unfortunately I have to add on to other reviews about Dr. Martinez-Diaz handling of cancelled appointments.

My experience prior to this was perfectly fine. I received the medications I needed quickly and efficiently without any issues.

Extenuating circumstances arose, and I needed to cancel my upcoming appointment. I was charged a $154 cancellation fee, per their policy.

This is a terrible shock to a person's finances, therefore I reached out via email to see if there was a possibility for an exception (doesn't hurt to ask, as they say) and was met with a cold and very unreasonable

Genuinely one of the worst experiences I've had with a medical professional. He acted like all my questions were stupid, rushed me impatiently through the process (literally 5 min and left at one point during that time after giving me a pamphlet to read), and said that if I don't go on a certain medication it would be "wasting his time". I felt incredibly uncomfortable throughout the process.

Had been going here 2x a month for a few months, and ultimately decided to terminate my ties to this office. Agree with most the reviews (which I so wish I saw beforehand): Dr. Martinez-Diaz not once examined my face for any improvements with the powerful medications he was prescribing me, was in & out within a couple minutes, and was completely affectless in charging a $150 cancellation fee as a result of a misstep in process on their part.

Really sloppy and shady business, and worst patient 'care' I've ever received. Regret not listening to others who were already suspicious

I was pretty happy with my appointment here. Dr. Martinez-Diaz was friendly and most importantly, he addressed my concerns regarding the regimen another derm had given me.

He understood that my skin concerns were frustrating and gave me a regimen with more potency than what the other derm had given me.

One strange thing was they held my insurance card, ID, and credit card until the end of my consultation. Not a big deal, just a little strange.

I'm hopeful that I'll see some results.

Dr. Martinez Diaz has been terrific in all of my treatments. I have been a patient of his for the past three years and it's exciting that he has opened his own, innovative practice. I now travel from out of state to visit his practice because of his proactive approach at treating my skin cancer as well as other skin concerns. He even helps me younger too. I definitely recommend his practice.

Had a procedure done here and was happy with the outcome. Weirdly, they charge you before any procedure is done which should have been a red flag. Booked a second appointment for another procedure and was aware of the steep $150 cancellation policy. Unfortunately, had a family emergency come up two states away that made me miss it. They charged me the fee as well as the 3% credit card fee on top of it. When I expressed my disappointment in charging a returning client (I would have eventually rebooked the appointment, so the office would still have received my business), they simply shrugged their

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Martinez-Diaz. After many attempts through the intercom and phone, I was unable to gain access to the building for my visit. I arrived 10 minutes early for the appointment and waited for at least the equivalent outside.

* It was in the 20's temperature wise and very windy, so I decided to leave after waiting outside and not hearing from the office staff
* I received a phone call several minutes later to return or I would receive a $150 cancellation fee
* I was no longer in the area and parking there is difficult so rescheduling was the only option

Where do I begin,

My husband and I both decided we wanted to see a local dermatologist in our neighborhood and booked appointments a half an hour apart. As we walked in and were greeted by the front desk, I knew we were in trouble when they had no record of his appointment, but he had a confirmation email to prove he had scheduled one. Luckily they were still able to see us both, which is the only good thing I have to say. After walking in the door from work and being a new customer, I knew it would be a minute before being seen. I began by asking where the bathroom was, which was then given

Dr. Martinez Diaz is a fantastic doctor and runs a great practice. He is attentive, kind, and thoughtful, and he does a great job of listening close and showing that he genuinely cares!

His office is modern and clean, and booking appointments with him via ZocDoc makes it very easy to schedule time with him. I regularly refer my friends to him when they're looking for a dermatologist in the area.

Like my original review, my follow-up here is for other Yelpers.

After posting my review, Dr. Martinez Diaz called me twice on two consecutive evenings. I was working and didn't answer, and no VM was left. He then sent a threatening email about my "negative and harmful" review: "If I don't hear from you tonight, I am going to proceed with the assumption that you don't wish to resolve things directly. Thus, I will proceed with my plan of action, which may involve legal action."

This is an incredibly aggressive response to a factual Yelp review; truth and opinion
