MassBJJ is an amazing gym. The instructors (especially Kelly and Mike) are incredible, with high standards but willing to answer any questions and make you feel welcome. I like that training here has an organized schedule — every week there is a set of topics, and you can show up anytime that week to repeatedly practice and perfect the moves. There’s very little ego from training partners, and upper belts are kind about giving tips. Finally, the women at this gym are incredible — there are usually at least 5-10 women in every fundamentals class, a dedicated women’s class every week, a clean

Mike Pellegrino and the whole team of instructors at Mass BJJ Arlington have been great. I am new to Ju Jitsu, a bit older, and not in the best shape of my life, but they have made sure that I can get the most out of the program. They have challenged me while simultaneously understanding where I am starting from. Can't recommend it highly enough.

MassBJJ is an amazing gym! Not only is the staff supportive but so is everyone on the mat. The team here feels like a family. BJJ classes are a fun but also well thought out and safe environment for learning BJJ/self defense and overall fitness with the weights room.

I have been training at Mass BJJ for 2.5 years. Right from the start, everyone I met from teachers to teammates were open, welcoming, and friendly. As someone new to training Jiu-jitsu, I had not point of comparison for how Mass BJJ fared in terms of instruction, but I felt certain I was getting first-class learning in an amazing atmosphere. It was only later when a friend who has been doing Jiu-Jitsu for much longer, and travels all over the country to different gyms told me Mass BJJ was one of the best gyms he had been ever been to; I realized I was lucky to be learning from such great instructors

Mike and his instructors are amazing! My 13 year old son has been attending for about a year and we couldn’t be happier. He has learned so much about the art of jujitsu . He has had so much fun, greatly Increased both his fitness and confidence. Through out the pandemic , they have maintained safety and followed all protocols . I recommend BJJ Arlington highly . Additionally, Mike is also a physical therapist which is helpful as challenges may come up .

Mass BJJ has an excellent training environment with highly experienced instructors and great training partners. The workouts are safe but high-intensity with participants learning technical skills while increasing fitness. The facilities are clean, spacious, well equipped and have good ventilation. I highly recommend Mass BJJ.

This is an amazing gym. I have been training BJJ for eight years, and have trained in gyms all over the world, and Mass BJJ tops them all. Whether is the size and cleanliness of the facility, the range of equipment, the quality of the people in the gym community and the way they take care of each other, or the energy, attention and care that Mike, the owner and lead instructor, brings to every class and everything he does, there's no better facility or instruction to be found anywhere around. Before I started jiu jitsu, I was an elite international athlete in another sport. I have been coached

Mass BJJ is the ideal training environment. I lived closer to several gyms but the trek to Mass BJJ was worth it for the following reasons.
- Clean and spacious facility
- Clear, technical, and wide variety of instruction
- Training partners who share the same goal of improving themselves and others
- Class offerings for beginners and competitors. Competitors will appreciate the hard training and positional rounds.
Overall, a great place to train. I'll surely miss it!

I've been training at Mass BJJ in Arlington for a little over a year and I could not recommend it enough to anyone thinking of joining. Whether you are an experienced grappler looking to compete or its your first time stepping on the mat you will be welcomed. Class instruction is at a very high level and they even off an online platform for you to supplement your training with (also highly recommended). The only thing better than the instruction that Mike, Christie and all instructors is the community that they have built.

I've been training here for a few months, and have fallen in love with BJJ partly thanks to the environment at Mass BJJ. (Seriously, I started moving other commitments around so I can train more.)
The lessons are very technique-focused, the instructors are helpful and attentive, and there's plenty of opportunity to get in training time with folks of all levels, but the real core of what makes this school great is that everyone is so friendly and helpful. It's obvious that a lot of effort has gone into creating that kind of environment, and it's what got me to stay. I'm

DISCLAIMER: I've never set foot in this place, let alone gotten any closer than walking or riding past. I don't know anyone who's employed there or even anyone who's been or still is a member.
So why am I posting this? It all has to do with the way I was treated despite being merely some random dude asking questions & making no promises to join. Last night I e-mailed the "arl.info" address, anticipating at best an auto-reply form letter that would take until sometime today for an employee to click "send" on.
That's not what ended up occurring

I've known Mike (one of the co-owners and instructors) close to four years now. I was attending his classes and rolling with him at Boston BJJ. Mike is extremely technical practitioner and attentive instructor.
That's why I was bombed when Mike left BBJJ to open his own school.
I was occasionally stopping by Mass BJJ - Arlington to attend his classes. What I noticed right away was the energy on the mat. Combination of great instruction and determination from students was creating great atmosphere for training. I was always welcomed and left the mat with new detail or technique.

I am writing this review even though I have never trained at this location. I have been training at this academy's sister school in Newton for the past 6 years. Today we got a visit from Mass BJJ Arlington Head Instructor Mike Pellegrino. He was in to train with fellow Black Belt John Frankl and our Head Instructor and 4th Degree Black Belt Roberto Maia.
I watched as these three trained together, trained with them a little bit myself and listened as they took the time to demystify some of the finer details and key strategies of BJJ.
In my opinion, an academy and its culture are nothing
