John has been in the construction industry since 2005, when he founded Gordon James. His background in the field: his father was a contractor, and he managed the construction of a Maple Plain coffee shop that he and his wife, Kim, own. Joe has been with Gordon James for eight years and in the construction industry for 20 years.
Brett joined the Team in the fall of 2018 as our CFO after serving as Finance Director at US Bank Home Mortgage for 24 years. Will has over 30 years of experience in construction, manufacturing and development businesses including custom home construction, land development, multi-family housing, property management and planning, design and management of industrial/manufacturing facilities.

We had the pleasure to work with John Quinlivan, Will Haack and Jeremy Thompson of Gordon James Construction on the build of our new construction project in Wayzata, MN and the fact of the matter is we would do it all over again the same exact way with the same exact team. I honestly cannot say enough about Gordon James! It’s difficult to know where to start. We started the process with them YEARS before we were ready to move forward with building our dream home. We never once felt pressure from them, unlike other builders. They feel like family to us. As a woman, I have felt a paternalistic attitude with a few of the builders that we interviewed, which was never the case with Gordon James. After interviewing several builders, we selected Gordon James for our new build in Minnesota. For us, they were just right - not to big and not too small. We worked primarily with Grant and Jeremy on the project; who both showed a strong work ethic, a high level of integrity, and great attention to detail throughout the process. Even though we lived out of state during the construction phase of the project, the communication with the team was always responsive and timely. We were especially pleased with the effective and professional partnership that Grant forged with the designer that we selected

Gordon James Builders worked with us from the very beginning, envisioning our new custom home build, and were with us until the end when they handed over the keys. Found them to be extremely relatable and responsive, walking us through each step in the process and following up as we moved closer to completion. We love our home and are extremely happy with the end result! Great people, great company!
