The Kwan Dermatology team provides both cosmetic and medical dermatology treatments. When we first meet someone seeking a cosmetic dermatology treatment, they often share how they have either been living with a troublesome condition or concern, or have been thinking about a making a physical change for some time.
Dr. Kwan received a B.S. in biology from UCLA, graduated magna cum laude, and completed his medical training at USC. He executed an internship at the University of Rochester Medical Center and returned to Los Angeles for a residency at UCLA. He became the Chief Resident of dermatology at King/Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles and then opened his current practice in San Francisco, California.

The most common acne trigger is hormonal changes that teenagers experience during puberty and adults usually experience during stressful periods. Hormonal acne appears in the form of deep, cystic blemishes around the chin, neck, and back. The Kwan Dermatology team offers several solutions to treat stubborn acne and to prevent it from reoccurring.
Birthmarks, port wine stains, and freckles and other forms of pigmentation occur naturally. The most common birthmarks fall into two categories - vascular marks and pigmented marks. Vascular marks include port wine stains, salmon patches, and hemangiomas. These are made of blood vessels that have been damaged or didn't form correctly in the womb, causing a red discoloration of the skin.

1. Did not retrieve my records from Florida when I took the steps to sign record release and provide all information with enough time before my first appointment.
2. Skin photo treatment missed the entire lower 3rd of my face.
3. SAW & NOTED LESION ON LEFT UPPER ARM ON FIRST VISIT AND DISMISSED IT. TURNED OUT TO BE MELANOMA INSITU LESS THAN 1 YEAR LATER WHEN A DOCTOR IN COLORADO BIOPSIED IT. REQUIRED DEEP SURGICAL REMOVAL.

This is a long overdue review of the fabulous Dr. Kwan! I’ve been seeing Dr. Kwan on a regular basis for nearly 15 years – ever since I moved from LA to SF. I was seeing a celebrity derm in BH, and was skeptical I'd find the same quality of Derm in SF. I originally chose him for his excellent educational background, but he is so much more…I can say with confidence that Dr. Kwan is not only the best Derm, but overall, simply the best doctor. I used to go to Dr. Kwan all the time when I lived in the City. I had to switch doctors when I moved to the South Bay. I went through a period where my skin was red and inflamed. My doctor in Los Gatos couldn’t figure it out and had me try a bunch of differnt things. Nothing was working and the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Frustrated, I reached out to Dr. Kwan and he was able to diagnose me within a few seconds of walking into the room. He prescribed me some items that started working within 36hrs! This is why I still make the one hour commute up to the City when I have any

Nice place and the office has magnificent view of union sq! I found this place from
zocDoc indicates as seeing Dr Kwan. But on the day of visit morning the text message reminder says I would be seeing the physician assistance. This made me felt mislead. It is ok to see the assistants not id appreciate being informed up front. For that reason I have 4 stars instead of 5.

I have been seeking medical help from Dr Kwans office for 5+ years and I’ve had nothing but successful experiences. Each staffing member is so wonderful to be around and the treatments provided has always been magically beneficial.
It’s never an issue scheduling appointments and they are so accommodating when needing to reschedule. I appreciate and I’m very thankful how much they care and their desire to make skin issues go away.

Dr. Kwan is incredible!! I was referred by a friend, and although it took about 3 months before I could get in for a consultation, I am so thankful I waited and went to the best! I started seeing Dr. Kwan 9 months before my wedding to get my (often) problematic skin under control. Now after 2 years since my 1st visit, my skin is better than ever! I don't know what I would have done without Dr. Kwan and his team's expert advice and care.

I first visited Dr. Kwan today and was very happy with my experience. Although they will be moving to a new office within the same building during the next few weeks, their current office is clean and modern. He is very professional and very knowledgable. He suggested a new treatment option that my previous dermatologist hadn't and advised against taking so many long term medications with antibiotics.
That's the kind of insight you want in a dermatologist! Definitely recommended.
