On the Move Physical Therapy and Pilates is a collection of some of the most dedicated, informed, compassionate, and inspirational Physical Therapists and Movement Instructors you'll ever meet. We are doctors of physical therapy - but we are also moms, athletes, and dancers. We understand that, no matter what injury, pain, or setback you have - your life, work, and training still has to go on.
We design your programs to fit the demands of your life while still giving you a moment to rehabilitate, rejuvenate and re-energize. In addition to being clinicians, we are teachers at heart and lifelong learners. Outside of the clinic-studio, we guest lecture at nearby universities, teach community classes, and teach free classes on line.

Services
One of the biggest disappointments of an athlete or dancer is pouring their heart and soul into training for a performance only to injure themselves mid-season. We prefer to see you before you get injured. We can help you find your weak spots and provide sensible solutions to address them. Some athletes choose to do physical therapy on a weekly or monthly basis to address the little aches before they become big injuries.
In addition to your physician's recommendations, seek recommendations from your family, friends, coach, and teammates. Consider your deductible. How many visits will you pay for, and at what rate, before you reach your deductible? Sometimes it costs less time and money to go straight to a physical therapy clinic that provides a level of care that helps you get better faster.
We here for the WHOLE journey - injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. So, our clients/patients/students see us when they are injured and when they're not. We see people of all ages, genders, and activity levels. If you're asking because we mostly feature women, gymnasts, and dancers on our website - that's because we our pretty proud of our expertise in gymnastics medicine, dance medicine, and women's health.
A non-profit organization with a mission to decrease gymnastics injuries via movement screens and education programs. San Francisco based sports psychologist, Dr Diana Lattimore takes on the emotional side of injury recovery. Check out her blog for inspiring stories and strategies for dealing with the part of the injury that you can't see but you can definitely feel.
Physical Therapy (aka PT or physiotherapy) helps you increase your strength, flexibility, control, power, balance, and coordination. We do this through manual therapy (hands-on) techniques, exercises specifically selected for you, and movement analysis. A thoughtful discussion about the movements you find challenging and the history of your aches, injuries, weakness, and pain.

I've spoken to many of her former clients who all had outstanding experiences and suffered from a diverse set of lower body injuries. During our first visit yesterday for my daughter's long standing ankle dysfunction (she's a dancer) it was clear that she is the person we should've been working with this entire time. She knows how the body is supposed to move and is very good at observing faulty patterns that can contribute to injury. Her initial suggestions were well thought out and helpful. We look forward to working with her.

I continued PT sessions with Jamie Wong at On the Move after she moved from her previous practice and have had nothing but good experiences. She is hands-down the best PT I have worked with, very knowledgeable and with a strong person-centered approach. Treatment was carefully tailored and adjusted over time, and she recommended a number of helpful additional resources to look into. Cannot recommend her strongly enough!

I've been there a couple of times and I love it! I've taken a few different classes to see what I like. I tried a mat class, a reformer class and an equipment class. I wasn't a fan of the mat class because it was a little too slow for me. But I really enjoyed the equipment and reformer class. The instructors are great and really care about their students. The classes are pretty small so the instructors are able to really correct you and make sure you are not hurting yourself!
I would definitely recommend that you try all the classes to see what you like the best!

I've known Alyssa for many years since she's delivered a Groove Fit dance class at the local school/community center for 9 years and Sandpiper School PTA also engages her to deliver dance to their students during the school day. She's invested in her local community, devoted to making a difference and she'll go the extra mile for clients, above and beyond what you might expect! Alyssa cares. You see it in everything she does. She is highly regarded in her community, a real listener, highly principled, steadfast and loyal. You'd be hard pressed to find a more trustworthy

Both of my kids-who are athletes- and I have been going to On The Move the past couple of years. I have been treated for bursitis of the hip and a hamstring strain. My daughter, a figure skater, started seeing Alyssa to gain flexibility and strength for her sport. Alyssa started a stretching and pilates class for the creative athlete. My son, a competitive hockey player, has seen Jamie Wong for a hamstring injury. Both Alyssa and Jamie are intuitive therapists, and the facilities are top notch. I highly recommend On The Move for both physical therapy and a variety of classes they offer to adults

Most of my fitness regimen is largely focused on weight training, but I decided to give Alyssa's Pilates class a try. I was pleasantly surprised. I learned a lot of great techniques to help strengthen my core, which I now plan to incorporate into my regular training sessions at the gym. Alyssa has a great energy and does an excellent job of describing the movements with vivid imagery that makes the exercises fun and memorable. The facility was clean and bright. There was plenty of parking in front of the studio as well. It's a great class and I highly recommend it, especially to all the guys like

I know On the move Physical Therapy because of Jamie Wong at her previous job at Palo Alto.I follow Jamie since she left that job evne though that is a LOT further from where I live but still worth it! The reason I like to work with Jamie because she is IPA ( Insistute of Physical Art) trained Functional Manual Therapist. In order to hold the title CFMT requires serious series of continue education courses and the therapist has to pass very difficult certification exam.Jamie is very knowledge able and uses Holistic approach to find the causes of the pain and also uses advance manual techniques

We have been coming here for Pilates for about 6 months now with Dr Keiko and cannot recommend it enough! The instructors here are all physical therapists and unlike many other Pilates studios in the area, the focus here is on form, stretching, and strengthening safely as opposed to just working out as hard as possible for an hour.
As total exercise beginners with previous injuries, this has been the most incredible way to start getting in shape.

I went to them after my first ACL surgery didn't go well and knee would straighten up. I was impressed by the care they take for each patient in making sure they are recovering soon and gaining strength. I started off with Keiko where she did a lot of hands on therapy that would make my knee feel better for sometime after the session. Unfortunately since my ACL wasn't put in properly the first time and my knee would go back to being bent, she recommended me to see a doctor to ensure ACL is good. Turns out my ACL was bad and had to get the surgery done again. I came back here after my

I’ve been working with Claire for several months on Pilates sessions and it’s awesome. I was a beginner, and I am not into sport. Th first sessions were about learning the basics and how to use the equipment like reformer, chair, trapeze table, and core Align. Claire is supportive, dedicated and a great observer/listener. She focuses on my posture and tailors exercices to my individual needs. Now, I am going there twice a week and I love it. I can see the benefits of Pilates exercices on my body. Jamie Wong is a wonderful PT. She was great with me during my 1st session/evaluation. I've been dealing with a shoulder tendinitis injury and she was able to give me a lot of tips on how to strengthen, stretch and self massage the area for relief and healing. I appreciate how attentive, knowledgeable and kind she was. Would definitely recommend her to others. The studio is very nice and welcoming as well. Can't wait to come back

This place is great. And you can take it from me because I am a physical therapist myself! Long story but I recently had surgery to remove a herniated disc that was compressing my spinal cord. Since then I have been experiencing weakness and abnormal muscle tone throughout my entire body. I've been working with Jamie since leaving acute rehab and she really knows her stuff! Her skill set and experience has been truly effective in helping my recovery. I am now walking with better mechanics and moving all limbs more smoothly thanks to Jamie.

Alyssa Is just such a terrific physical therapist. She is patient, attentive, knowledgeable, competent, and effective.
She has a kind and professional feel to her that made me feel like I was in secure hands.
I have already learned so much about a chronic shoulder problem that has been plaguing me for years and worsened in the last six months. I really wish I had sought help for this sooner based on how much I've already learned in a 60 minute appointment with her.

I can't recommend her enough! After I tore my ACL & had surgery to repair it, Alyssa was my physical therapist. I can not say enough wonderful things about her approach, her knowledge of what was happening in my body (even when I couldn't even describe it), how kind she is & how she got me back up & running quickly & safely. Alyssa has also been an amazing dance teacher for both my kids (especially the one who absolutely REFUSED to go the first day & now can not wait to get to her class!). They adore her & love dance because of her class.

As a professional dancer, I highly recommend Alyssa to any dancer or athlete. Her knowledge about dance and gymnastics is impeccable. She has treated all my injuries in the last two years and has done an amazing job with healing the areas as well as strengthening them. Alyssa works well with children and is also a great pilates teacher. What I like most about her is that she is very personable. Alyssa makes sure she takes care of you in the best way possible.
The clinic itself is very clean, welcoming, and filled with top-notch equipment for the patients. Lots of parking and just off the 101 freeway

I've been seeing Alyssa for several years now, for private and semi private Pilates, as well as physical therapy for my knee and back. My 11 yo son has also seen her for rehab following a broken leg.
If Yelp went to 10 stars, I would give her 10. Alyssa is the consummate professional, yet warm, friendly, and flexible. She is extremely good with kids as well as adults, and our overall health has improved as a result. The studio is immaculate, and parking is never a problem.

I don't normally post reviews, but I'm a firm believer in giving back to my community as well as praising people for hard work and talent. When it comes to Alyssa, I can't praise her enough. I am a competitive NCAA division 1 gymnast. I've had many injuries over the years from pulled hamstrings to sprained ankles to broken bones. With that said, I always listened to the doctor, except when it came to PT. As a fit person, even when I was injured, I never saw the benefits of PT. It wasn't until November of my senior year of HS when I was diagnosed with bilateral spondylolysis (2 stress fractures

I have been going to Alyssa for 9 years now and she has successfully conquered every injury I've thrown at her. Not only is she a fantastic physical therapist, she has been like a mother to me who I trust with every aspect of my life. She has great values that have led her to start several special needs programs, and I would not be focusing my life on working in this field if it hadn't been for her. My favorite part of going to her has been the way she incorporates my skills as a ballerina to help me grow stronger, and she makes each exercise challenging in a way that I feel that she truly cares

I highly recommend Alyssa as a PT for anyone, and their child. My daughter is a competitive gymnast who has had multiple different injuries. We tried many different physical therapists and Alyssa is the best exponentially. (We have tried other PTs who are closer to us, but we always end up going back to Alyssa). She is very knowledgeable about the sport but thinks through each gymnast's problem based on their body mechanics. She figured out that the way my daughter's body habits was incompatible with certain gymnastics moves. Because she knows gymnastics; she was able to help my daughter figure

Then I hurt my knee, so Alyssa worked on that. And then she worked on my neck... At this point, I see her regularly and I think of her as a wellness partner. I have worked with Alyssa to prep for two half marathons. The first time my shin was so sore I had almost given up on being able to complete the race. Alyssa was able to diagnose the problem, get me up and running in a few weeks and I completed the race injury free.
The second time was a similar situation. Except this time I could not figure out where the pain was coming from. I just knew that it hurt to put weight on my leg... Definitely not a good place to be a few weeks before a race. Again she worked her magic and got me up and running.
I highly recommend Alyssa and her practice

Both my daughter and I have seen Alyssa at On the Move Physical Therapy for different reasons but we have both seen the same amazing results. Alyssa is not just caring and a good listener, she is extremely knowledgable about the human body and physical movement. As a former athlete, she truly understands movement and the different ways that the body may become strained.
