This is hands down, one of the best schools in San Diego County. Master Truscott and instructors are top notch. Whenever we have tournaments, we always invite them first. They care about their students and always go above and beyond to support them. We also highly recommend their Champions for Children Tournaments. This is a school that continually gives back to their community.

I am so thankful for our Family Karate center in Escondido. The growth my daughter has achieved both physically and mentally has been immense. Now, during this covid-19 time, they have stepped up to ensure it's members are supported in all ways! Although we miss being able to have hand to hand sparring, the Zoom lessons have maintained focus, kept improving our skills and continued building all the characteristics we need in order to thrive during these times. THANK YOU, Master Truscott and ALL of the instructors at Family Karate for making such a positive difference in our lives.

I trained with the exceptional staff and instructors at Family Karate Escondido for many years. I received my Black Belt at age 50 and my Second Degree Black Belt at 54. Although I have not trained with them for a while, I try to live the Tenants every day and the teachings and impact on my life went way beyond the physical training. I recommend them highly!

My kids love this dojo!! We came on a Groupon special! My older daughter acted like I was forcing her! She said she'd give it until the Groupon trial was up!--- But lookey here,Total turn around with my teenage daughter!!! She loved it & both my kids are still coming here. Their confidence, physical skill, & excitement to achieve more than they thought they could ever be -sold me! Master Trescott & his staff are awesome teachers & know how to motivate with positivity!

AMAZING!! No other word to describe the experience I have had starting my son here at Family Karate! Master Truscott and Master Towry are beyond AMAZING!! My son was terrified walking in as he can get anxiety with groups of people that he doesn't know. Master Truscott was so patient and kind to my shy guy on our first class. He even let my son just watch through the viewing glass and let me interact in the class so my son could see how the class did their routines. Then the next class with Master Towry, again, patience. My son has been doing Karate here for the past year or so and we absolutely loves it. The instructor is very kind and friendly and he is understanding to my sons needs. My son loves going to his training sessions and gets very excited once he gets a new belt color. He is very enthusiastic with his practices and he has tried to sign up for additional classes.

The staff at Family Karate has been amazing! The lead instructor, Steve Truscott, continues to teach ME how to better my parenting skills, simply through observing his incredible level of patience and commitment to excellence with each of his students. They have created a unique blend of down to earth, relatable instruction, with proven and accurate self defense methods. We absolutely enjoy and appreciate Family Karate! We are on our second generations of Everts. All the instructors are amazing! Students have goals at Family Karate as well as at Home to reach their next stripe/belt. One of the biggest changes I've seen my seven-year-old is that when she is corrected she does not give attitude, but instantly said yes mom or dad and chooses to keep a good attitude. This is just one of the many values outside of martial arts that our children are learning at Family Karate. Thank you Mr. Truscott and Team!

This karate school is amazing! They have taught my son so many life lessons and lots of physical skills too! The instructors treat the students (kids and adults) with so much respect. My girls have really enjoyed classes here since we started a few months ago. My older daughter is earning stripes on her belt so she is excited to learn more so she can continue to advance and my younger daughter is having a lot of fun learning in the tiny tiger class. They are both more respectful and self-disciplined since they started and have learned some real life practical things to do if they are ever in danger.
I read a ton of reviews and was set on coming here, so I was happy to find them on Groupon. The monthly rates are affordable and there are a lot of class times to fit our schedule

We've been sending our son Kaiden here for years. It is a great , motivating , and safe place. Steve does an amazing job. There is a reason why his studio has been in business for over 40 years, because the owners work their buts off providing a great product. They not only teach karate but also self discipline and respect as well.

These guys are awesome and mr. Packwood who works with the tiny tigers on Saturdays is awesome. My daughter is a typical wild 3 year old who has selective hearing. I highly recommend and hope she stays in as long as she's older so she can defend herself if she ever needs to. The parent involvement in this class teaches us a lesson too.

Master Truscott invited our 11 year old daughter to join Family Karate. Her attitude has never been better and her confidence is soaring. She lives by the tenets taught in class and strives everyday to put forth her best effort. She is more responsible and a better person all around. Master Steve and his employees are awesome. His classes not only teach Karate, but they also teach honor, respect and safety. His classes are fun. He has a lot of experience with kids.
