Dr. Barone has worked in multiple settings such as community mental health centers, outpatient agencies, psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse treatment facilities, educational and correctional facilities. Dr. Barone's chief area of interest is in providing scientific, specialized, and technical knowledge of psychology to the law to assist in addressing legal and administrative matters.
Competency evaluations will answer questions regarding legal competency as requested by the court or an attorney. Competency to waive Miranda rights, competency to confess, and competency to make decisions, as well as mental status at the time of the crime are a few of the issues that may be addressed.
Dr. Barone provides expert psychological consultation to attorneys in Family Law cases. Divorce is never an easy decision or process. Many times couples can jointly agree on the terms of their marital settlement, parental responsibilities, and child visitation (time-sharing) arrangements. However, sometimes couples do not agree, and have on-going conflict between them.
Dr. Barbara Ann Barone earned a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Carlos Albizu University in Miami, Florida in 2010. A skilled child and family psychotherapist, she uses her extensive knowledge of child development to increase parents' ability to successfully manage their children's behavior issues.
