The mission of Bruce Wood Dance is to present high-caliber, contemporary choreography that harnesses the power of dance to entertain, enrich, and heal. Bruce Wood Dance, hailed as Dallas' "shining star" by Arts and Culture Texas, is an award--winning contemporary dance company founded in 2010 by nationally acclaimed Texas artistic director and choreographer Bruce Wood (1960-2014).
Bruce Wood Dance is built on Wood's vision and prolific artistry. Artistic director Joy Bollinger successfully carries on Wood's legacy and leads an outstanding company of 12 exceptional dancers. BRUCE WOOD DANCE opens its 12th season with ReNEW, celebrating the history and legacy of Bruce Wood.
The show opens with Liturgy, considered one of Bruce Wood's masterworks; begin again by acclaimed contemporary dancemaker Yin Yue-know for her physically fierce style; and the Dallas premiere of Elemental Brubeck by the great 20th-century choreographer, Lar Lubovitch, ReNEW is dedicated to Rosalee Kimple, our 2019 Bruce Award Honoree, for her passionate patronage of Bruce Wood Dance.ReNEW covers new territory for the company.

Bruce Wood Dance's education program is named in honor of Annabelle "Tina" Brown, who was a passionate, thoughtful, and generous patron. The Tina Brown Education Outreach serves approximately 3,600 people per year. Education outreach coordinator Olivia Davis directs the complimentary weekly classes at Nexus Recovery Center for Women, Mosaic Family Services, and Heart House Dallas.
