Gluten free heaven! Ah, to be able to enjoy a chocolate or plain croissant again with my "cafe au lait" was a little bit of heaven. The Everything Bagels are delicious but the Carrot Cake Cupcakes were a big disappointment. The cake tasted like very low quality powdered cinnamon and the icing was a big disappointment without cream cheese.

I've been to exceptional gluten free bakeries everywhere from Paris and London to suburban strip malls. Sadly, Rise is not among them. This might have been a special place back in the 1970s or 1980s, but gluten free baking has come a long way since then. All of the products at Rise have a gritty dryness to them and most come frozen. It's also super expensive. Save the time and money and just buy whatever they offer at your local supermarket--it will taste better.

We love rise bakery!!! Its absolutely one of the best spots in DC to get Gluten Free food that is tastey, and healthy. They have vegetarian options too. My boyfriend who doesn't require gf still enjoys the sandwhich too :) my favorite is the gf surf panini. The warm tuna melt is the best for a hang over or just a lunch when your missing home. As a celiac, I so appreciate this bakery. You guys rock!

Daughter and I dropped in here to check it out and walked away with two pastries and some challah.
They had a nice selection of breads and a small case of pastries both savory and sweet. It was busy even for a Monday afternoon and a number of the frozen breads were already sold out.
My DD got the chocolate Ć©clair and I got the Nutella brownie. The chocolate and custard in the Ć©clair were amazing. The shell was very good for a GF version, it was a bit heavier than a G Ć©clair but she was happy. The brownie was fabulous. It had a fudge like consistency a think layer of Nutella and walnuts on

Stopped in today and as usual, cheerful, knowledgeable, and authentic service. The employees are always so happy to share about new items, and I love that! Picked up a couple treats and some items for a new to DC celiac. Had the pistachio cream puff on the way home and OMG. Employees were not kidding on how tasty it was, with actual pistachio flavor!
I just love that Rise is continuing to survive and still innovating. Super friendly and kind staff are also so refreshing, especially in a tough climate to work in food service. Something is so right about Rise.

The pistachio cream puff was amazing! I also tried the chocolate croissant. It reminded me more of a danish with a chunk of chocolate and not as light and fluffy as a croissant but still very tasty. I would definitely recommend trying this bakery if you are challenged with living gluten free. I am going again tomorrow for something else!

Best gluten free eclair I've had on the East coast. Was as light and airy as gluten free can get. I've had eclairs from other GF bakeries that could be confused with a paper weight. They sell out pretty quickly of these on the weekends so get there early! Definitely coming back to try a breakfast sandwich.

Everything I bought (Ham & Cheese Croissant, Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie 6-pack, jalapeƱo cheddar buns, double chocolate cupcake, and mocha cupcake) was DELICIOUS!
The guy I was dating was gluten intolerant so he was super happy to have found this gem!
It is my now my favorite bakery in the DMV and will be returning whenever I'm in the Adams Morgan area!

Recently placed an order for vegan chocolate chip cookies. The cookies were dry and hard -- tasted like they had been on the shelf too long. I've had these same cookies here before and remember them being slightly more chewy and less dry. Not sure if they changed the recipe.
I also ordered the Belmont which was pretty tasty. It's a vegan and gf sandwich filled with veggies and a savory sauce. If you order the whole, it's basically two small sandwiches wrapped together. The bread was not very good though. For a bakery, you'd think their gluten free and dairy free bread would

I was so excited to try their cinnamon roll. It looked delicious on Instagram. The bakery is clean and the employee was so friendly. I got my cinnamon roll and I was off to Kalorama Park to eat my treat and people watch. Well it didn't go as planned. It tasted horrible. If this is what gluten free food is like then consider me out. The texture was odd. It was hard, I took my first bite and I knew it was gonna be gross. The cream cheese was disgusting. It went in the garbage. Thank you for the great customer service I am sad to report your cinnamon roll turned me off to all things

Ok, so the four stars for this place is based solely on their chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cake. The rest of everything I've eaten here was terrible. BUTTTTT the chocolate chip cookies are the BEST gluten free dairy free cookies I've ever eaten from anywhere ever (including all the GF DF bakeries in NYC & DC). And their chocolate cake is so dense and decadent. It's rich and creamy, and one of the best gluten free dairy free cakes I've ever had.

I have been eyeing Rise for years since it is one of the only places I know of that is strictly Gluten Free! I finally got a chance to try it out and I was not disappointed!
It's something special to make your establish completely gluten free! I love being able to choose anything on the menu without fear or second thoughts. I decided on a cinnamon roll. It was so so so good. It was sticky and sugar and fluffy. I couldn't believe it! It tasted a lot like caramel actually. I also snagged a few bites of my friends bagel and that was also amazing. Tasted just like a "normal" bagel

Still kicking out some tasty stuff here.
I think the gluten-free croissant has improved. And their blueberry muffin continues to be light and lovely.
Pricing is up there, but Rise is a specialized bakery--so that goes with the territory. Their baked goods make life a lot easier for those with food restrictions.
I find the counter staff to be competent.

Bakeries are increasingly catering to restricted diets. If you need dairy and gluten free you can get these in a bake shop. Rise Bakery is one of these. It's nice to have selection for many who don't have bakeries to choose from. The prices are mostly ok.
I like picking up a few things for breakfast. It's also good for desserts. They have a small location next to Amsterdam Falafel. It has just one table where you can eat. This is a pick up and go kind of place. I think the prices are pretty good because it's a specialty bakery. The single serving items seem to be about $3
