Zeppole Baking Company opened its doors in 1993 with the goal of providing superior hand-crafted breads to the Boise Area. The company's founder, Gary Ebert, a local attorney who was tired of the legal rat race, traveled extensively throughout Europe studying Old World techniques and gathering the best rustic bread recipes for the fledgling company.
He named the company "Zeppole, " after a fried dough treat he discovered in Italy, although that item isn't on the menu because the bakery sells only baked, not fried, items. Charles has more than 30 years experience in five-star restaurant, hotel and private member club operations, while Alison, who was born and raised in Scotland, has an accounting background and experience in the hospitality industry.

Services
Take the work and worry out of your next business or community meeting, party, shower or other event, and let us cater for you. Zeppole can provide a la carte selections, sandwich platters, pastry trays, or individualized Box Lunches, which include a Sandwich, Chips, Giant Cookie and Beverage and are perfect for sporting events, picnics, the Shakespeare Theatre and lunches on the go.
I live here because I can eat a $5 lunch at Zeppole, as I did for about 400 afternoons straight while I was writing my first novel. You think your buns are the best? We think Zeppole's challah rolls make the best buns. See for yourself. Invite your friends over for a burger party. Then get your buns down to Zeppole's.

We were really excited to try this place because we constantly buy their bread at our local market (their sourdough bread is fantastic by itself). However, the actual location is nothing special. The customer service was pretty bad. In fact, the people working seemed irritated with us because we were taking a little bit of time to look over the menu before we ordered a few items to go. Keep in mind, we were the only customers in line.
Now to the food. The sandwich we had (roasted red pepper with feta cheese, olives, and spinach) was okay in terms of flavor, but overall, dry. We also bought a

The to-go goods are always great .... But I remember Zeppole being so much better than the last couple times I went there. I know they are trying to keep a lean staff, and hiring cannot be easy right now, but the sandwiches simply aren't like they used to be and the service is a little spotty. Hopefully things right themselves once we begin to get back to normal.
Also, what is wrong with the exhaust fan? I really don't like getting food at 9am and still smelling like a greasy kitchen at lunchtime.
That said.. Once again, the bread and baked items are as good as any place in the valley.

So apparently you're not allowed to leave a negative review regarding crappy customer service "because of Covid". My previous review was taken down because apparently Yelp thinks businesses should be able to be jerks to customers right now and not be reviewed for it due to "circumstances beyond their control". It's well within the control of every human being right now to TREAT CUSTOMERS DECENTLY!! Yes, it's possible to enforce a mask policy politely! Yes, it's possible to verbalize local restrictions politely! Yes, it's possible for an employee to KEEP

Worst grub hub experience we have had. Less than half our order arrived. What did arrive (see pictures) was a stale breaded sandwich of rotten meat and rubbery bread. This place bakes bread for many places and it is the only reason they are in business still. They did not even bother to put mayo on my sandwiches. One was ordered with regular mayo and one with chipotle.

Love this place! Both Boise locations are excellent, we just go her now since it is closer. Wonderful bread as well as great sandwiches and soups and pastries in the cafe. My favorite bread is the Village Loaf, but the Kalamata Olive Ciabatta is something amazing and the Hot Cross Buns are a holiday treat!

Here's the deal - they have okay to almost Good sandwiches but definitely not what they used to be . The bread is way too firm and chewy instead of the soft village loaf they used before. Also the lettuce is gross . It's old it's wilted and Fresh . The counter people are usually friendly except for this one lady who works there - shes very hurried even if there isn't a line and overcharged me. She's off . Probably has been working there too long. I would say anywhere else . Subway is even better .

I am super impressed by the quality and the price at this bakery. Staff is very friendly, it smells wonderful, and I was pleasantly surprised at my final bill. I got a gorgeous sourdough loaf, 3 hoagie type (ohhh they call them something else britti? Fritti? Lol) rolls and a yummy pastry and it was $10.
They also serve beer and wine here, looks like they have sandwiches and etc. she pointed out the "day old " rack and informed me the bagels and scones are 25% off after 3. I'm having spaghetti tonight and am most excited about my bread...I'll be back for sure!

I have been going to Zeppole for about 20 years(Apple and downtown). Their lunch soup and sandwich used to be my go to quick lunch. The last 3 visits, their to-go pre-wrapped sandwiches are probably 2/3 the size, and 1/2 the content than the one shown in the case or how they used to be. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first 2 times, but after the 3rd time I think it is just the new norm. It feels dirty to display a sandwich, and get something far less. At $9.50, there are many better lunch options downtown. I will no longer be going here for lunch, but only to get bread or other speciality

Can I say NEW YORK RYE bread? Love the stuff. And they make it fresh at Zeppole's Cafe available on Monday and Wednesday. They have lots of other good bakery items at this cafe, but what caught my taste-buds was the New York Rye...so delicious! The best part was seeing Fido in the Window waiting to drive Mommy home. Look closely at the photo of the Denali suv. Fido is precious.

People come here for the excellent foccacia, but my money is on the dense yet slightly crisp peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I am going to say that these are the best PB cookies in Boise. Single cookies or a bag of 4 to share with friends out on the patio. Also, the service is great. Since my peanut butter cookie addiction has started, the same 2 employees have been nothing but friendly to me.

The Zeppole Village Loaf has been one of our favorites for sandwiches for years. But during a recent visit I noticed the scones looked like something that needed to be investigated. They had several types of scones (Raspberry White Chocolate, Lemon Blueberry, Cranberry Orange Walnut, Maple Walnut, Butterscotch Coconut) and a sign indicating they had made too many for the day and the price was about half off the regular $2.75 price due to making too many breakfast pastries for the day. Score! We ended up with three scones...Raspberry White Chocolate, Cranberry Orange Walnut, & Butterscotch Coconut

I am a huge fan of scones. In particular ones that are more like a biscuit. Fortunately for me, those are exactly the style that Zeppole makes. From the options available (Raspberry White Chocolate, Lemon Blueberry, Cranberry Orange Walnut, Maple Walnut, Butterscotch Coconut) we selected three. We opted for the Raspberry White Chocolate, Cranberry Orange Walnut and the Butterscotch Coconut. We ate half of them at room temp that afternoon. Based upon staff recommendation, we warmed up the leftovers. I definitely preferred the scones heated. For me, the Cranberry Orange Walnut was

Crunchy salty savory - worth a small dip in my vegan powers. Keeps me mortal/humble.
Anything sweet but especially the lemon bars.
Veg sandwich pretty good - they're all pre-made so probably earlier in the day is best.
Tomato soup just ok. If you like a lot of cream, you will love it.
(They are vegetarian friendly for lunch but not for vegans - though I did spot some vegan cookies)
Quiet atmosphere good for work/study as long as my loud self doesn't show up
Ps: they have moved across the street from their original location so pay close attention to your map.

I absolutely love this place- the little paninis that you can get as well as their yummy muffins. Their cookies are also great as well as the happy hour options for wine. The other day, I was there with a friend and one of the workers overheard me talking about making an Italian dinner that evening for my husband. The worker then approached me a little while later with a free loaf of bread for my dinner. It was a very thoughtful, kind, and unexpected gesture. I will always continue to come back to this little shop!

We want to like it, we really do. Each time we have stopped by we have been underwhelmed by their service.
As residents of the area, we want a place to stop for a soup or sandwich and enjoy a place to have a casual lunch.
Instead we have found a menu that is limited by what is already prepared and the staff hasn't been willing to make a specific sandwich or meal.
We want to like you! Please consider more hours and a service minded attitude.

Zeppole is a fantastic place to get some fresh, local baked goods. The Village Round is simply the best bread they offer and I can never seem to find anything like it. They have other fantastic breads and such and I would consider them one of the best bakeries in Boise. My only suggestion for improvement would be personable customer service. I go in there almost every week and am hardly met with a smiling face or acknowledgement that they’ve ever met me before that transaction.

Loathe to write one star reviews, I usually just don't take the time to do it. I'm a 'glass half full' type but there are times when a counterpoint review is a little like a public service announcement for taking pause before visiting. Maybe if I'd noted one before coming here with out of town friends given positive Yelp reviews, we would have avoided the really poor experience. Here goes my bottom line humble Yelp opinion: you can do so much better for bakery items than Zeppole and as a dine in experience it is woeful.

First of all let me just say that the only reason I'm giving a 3 and not a 4 star rating is based on the overall experience. I truly believe that Zeppole makes the BEST bread in the Valley. In fact, I wish they would open a second location in Meridian!
I happened to be in that part of town today so I stopped in and grabbed lunch for me and my husband. I love the fact that you can choose between 1/2 and whole sandwiches. They have a great variety... Desserts, bagels, loaves of bread, sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.
My order consisted of 1/2 turkey & provolone sandwich, pasta salad
