Services
Your home inspector, John Mease of John Mease Home Inspections is an independent building property inspection service in the metro Atlanta area. My background includes earning my Engineering degree from The Citadel in 1980. I performed commercial engineering, construction and inspection projects for a Fortune 100 company for fifteen years throughout the Eastern US.
Re-sale: Re-sale home inspection services are "snap shots" of the home on the day of the inspection. It is a complete visual inspection of the property from the exterior drainage to the attic framing. Around Atlanta, expansion and contraction plus moisture, mold and termites are the classic attacks on the re-sale home.
New Construction: New construction home inspection services are phased inspections generally including two or three visits, depending on your comfort level. The three visits are foundation, pre-drywall and final. Many buyers choose the last two inspections as many foundation concerns can be found during the pre-drywall inspection (although few concerns can be changed at this time - remedial alterations are generally available).
One of the largest concerns home sellers have is the buyer's home inspection. What will the home inspector find? Will the buyer ask for a price reduction or excessive repairs? Or worse will the buyer cancel the contract? Home sellers can alleviate this concern buy having their home inspected before placing it on the market.
Commercial and Investor inspections are performed with the same basic techniques and goals as a regular home inspection with your liability as a landlord taken into account. The property is always checked for plumbing, roofing, mechanical, electrical and assorted maintenance concerns plus fire safety and egress.

John was fantastic to work with. I have never bought a home before and he was very thorough with explaining any thing I had questions about. I also called him on a Wed needing a home inspection ASAP and he was able to get to it the very next day. His inspection was very good and I would highly recommend him. He’s very professional and a joy to work with.

I had him inspect my new construction and soon after signing my loan docs, started to see issues that another inspector found that he said should have been found by Mr Mease. Talked to me the the time and wasn't here 30 mins. Very disappointed. Run if you want to use his services. Spent so much money fixing the issues because of his recklessness.

John Mease is one of the best in the business. With many many years of experience in the field, he is a walking encyclopedia of information and an absolute pleasure to work with. I have used him for 3 houses now and have referred him to friends and family. The first house I wanted to buy in 2013 was a great house and well taken care of. Unfortunately, it had some major structural issues that John discovered and prevented me from purchasing a huge mess. He inspected the home that I bought in 2014 and just sold in 2020. Everything that he reported about that house was 100% accurate and he made great

I hired John Mease to inspect the 114-year old house I grew up in before I undertake major repairs and renovation. He was punctual, professional, extremely knowledgeable, and let me tag along (questions and all.) He knows current and former building code off the top of his head, and has an understanding of common building practices through the decades. He took his time and did a very thorough job, and was also able to recommend first steps for this overwhelming task. He also had a detailed 17-page report with photographs and recommendations in my email inbox the same day. I feel like I have a much

John Mease inspected a condo built in 1983 that we were considering for purchase. He went through the property thoroughly and provided a comprehensive report outlining the issues he found. He inspected everything imaginable. He is a true professional with the education, on the job knowledge, and passion needed to support customer confidence in a major property purchase. I highly recommend John for your inspection.

As a home buyer in 2005, our realtor referred John Mease to us for our home inspection. Buying a home is a scary proposition so needless to say receiving the inspector’s report often times exacerbates the anxiousness one is already feeling. Mr. Mease’s report uncovered a number of items but prominent among those items was disclosure of a brick chimney leaning into the roofline of the home. Thankfully the seller was able to significantly shore up the structure and provide us an architect/engineer’s safety report. Fast forward 15 years (now 2020), we will soon be the seller of this same house

John is very punctual and thorough in his inspection. He takes time to check out everything and place it in his report. We have been through purchase of a number of homes and condos but not seen anyone do a job as thorough as what John does. He welcomes questions during the inspection and also afterwards. We had seen something from the outside at the property we were purchasing and John went out a second time without charging extra to look at what we were worried about. If I had to get another property inspected, I would use none other than John. We recommend him without any hesitation.

After reading reviews I went with John instead of a coworker's recommendation and I couldn't be happier that I did! He knows building and fire code by heart. He is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about all things home. He looked at a tree branch leaning on the house and told me that probably meant woodland creatures were in the attic and sure enough he was right. He estimated the age of the roof correctly. He noticed tiny chips in the sink exposing cast iron which makes the sink unsanitary. His report included pictures and recommendations for how to proceed.
